There are moments in life when you look back at where you came from, and all you can do is thank God for the journey. From Garram village in Kanke, from a humble beginning, from a young boy who had dreams but did not know what the future held, I could never have imagined that one day I would stand at this defining moment with a burden in my heart for the people of our beloved Plateau State.

Plateau has given me so much. It has shaped my values, strengthened my resolve, and given me the privilege to build, to serve, and to see firsthand the incredible potential that lies within our people. I have listened to the hopes of our youths, witnessed the resilience of our women, and felt the daily struggles of families who work hard yet long for greater opportunities. Those experiences have stayed with me.

After deep reflection, prayers, and sincere conversations, I have made the bold but humble decision to offer myself to serve as Governor of Plateau State. Not because of position. Not because of ambition. But because I truly believe our state can become much more, and our people deserve much more.

I believe Plateau must move beyond dependence and step boldly into an era of enterprise, innovation, productivity, and opportunity. I see a Plateau where our youths become creators, where our women are empowered, where agriculture, business, tourism, technology, and industry become the pillars of lasting prosperity.

My name is Kefas—the rock—and I believe God has prepared me to help lay a stronger foundation for generations to come.

I come to you not as one who has all the answers, but as one of you… with faith, with sincerity, and with a genuine heart to serve. I humbly ask for your prayers, your trust, and your support as together we build a greater Plateau State.

I am Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, and I am ready to serve.

84th Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (BoT)

Happening now, members of the Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party are convened for their 84th meeting to deliberate on critical issues affecting the party, particularly ahead of the forthcoming 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The meeting comes at a pivotal moment following the recent ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which has significantly reshaped the current leadership structure and direction of the party.

The Board of Trustees, as the conscience and moral guide of the party, is expected to provide direction, encourage reconciliation among stakeholders, and advise the appropriate organs on lawful and constitutional steps toward stabilizing the party.

Key among the expectations is the role of the NEC in taking decisive actions, including coordinating the upcoming 103rd NEC meeting and considering necessary arrangements to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The People’s Democratic Party remains committed to unity, internal democracy, and the rule of law as it navigates this critical phase.

Further updates will follow as deliberations continue.
