TEARS, TRIUMPH, AND HOPE: BATCH A STREAM II BOWS OUT IN AN EMOTIONAL PASSING-OUT
Emotions ran high as the 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members gathered for their Passing-Out Parade, marking the completion of the final cardinal programme of the National Youth Service Corps and the successful end of their service year. The atmosphere reflected a blend of joy, gratitude, nostalgia, and hope as corps members prepared to transition into another phase of life after months of service to the nation.
Addressing the outgoing corps members, the NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mr. Okochi Okpara, reflected on their journey through the Scheme—from the Orientation Course to the Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), Community Development Service (CDS), and finally the Passing-Out Parade. He commended them for their resilience, sacrifices, and contributions to nation-building, describing the batch as unique since no corps member was penalized with extension of service, a feat he attributed to their discipline, punctuality, and commitment. According to him, this distinguished them as one of the best sets of corps members to have served in the state.
In a deeply reflective and fatherly tone, the State Coordinator emphasized the importance of self-reliance and practical skills, urging corps members to embrace entrepreneurship and vocational training. According to him, “Learn skills to survive and sustain your life, or struggle to see tomorrow.” He advised them to remain disciplined, hardworking, and purposeful while also being security conscious, specifically cautioning them against travelling through the Biu–Maiduguri and Biu–Yola roads due to safety concerns.
On behalf of the Director General and the entire management of the NYSC, Mr. Okpara prayed for journey mercies, success, and fulfilment in life, wishing them safe travels and rewarding futures. The ceremony ended on an emotional note as corps members exchanged farewells, reflected on friendships built, challenges overcome, and memories created throughout their service year.
