ELEMURE OF EMURE-ILE KINGDOM PARTICIPATES IN APPON 6TH NATIONAL CONFERENCE/AGM IN ENUGU
His Royal Majesty, the Elemure of Emure-Ile Kingdom, a distinguished member of the Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON), on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026, participated in the opening day of the Association’s 6th National Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the International Conference Centre, Enugu State.
The conference, which is scheduled to run from 2nd - 6th June, 2026, is being held under the leadership of Dr. Emem James Kanico, FCCP, CFIAR, IION, and is themed:
“Procurement Reforms in Nigeria: Evaluating Progress and Strengthening SMEs Through Affirmative Procurement Policies.”
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Adedokun Adebowale, FCIPD, ACFE, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), while the first paper presentation, titled “Procurement Reforms in Nigeria: Prospects and Challenges,” was delivered by Barr. Ehinmoni Jagun Ibiyomi, Director-General of the Kogi State Bureau of Public Procurement and Chairman of the Forum of State Directors-General.
As part of the activities marking the opening day of the conference, His Royal Majesty joined other distinguished dignitaries and members of APPON in presenting an Award of Honour to the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to procurement reforms and national development.
In his remarks, Kabiyesi commended the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adedokun Adebowale, and the leadership of APPON, led by Dr. Emem James Kanico, for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to advancing public procurement practices in Nigeria. He praised their efforts in promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence within the procurement sector.
The revered monarch further encouraged them to remain steadfast in their service to the nation, noting that their contributions continue to strengthen governance and economic development. He offered prayers for God’s continued wisdom, strength, good health, and divine guidance upon the Director-General, the leadership of APPON, and all procurement professionals across the country as they discharge their responsibilities with integrity and diligence.
The conference has attracted procurement professionals, policymakers, government officials, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from across Nigeria to exchange ideas, share experiences, and strengthen efforts toward improving public procurement practices and promoting sustainable economic growth.
