LETTER TO THE CATHOLIC WOMEN ORGANIZATION (CWO) ON THE OCCASION OF 2026 MOTHERING SUNDAY
Dear Esteemed Mothers, Leaders, and Members of the Catholic Women Organization, Nike and Emene Deaneries, and indeed all women across the parishes in our Local Government,
Grace and peace be with you.
It is with great joy and deep reverence that I felicitate with you on this special occasion of Mothering Sunday 2026—a day set aside to honour the beauty, strength, and divine calling of motherhood.
Mothering Sunday is more than a celebration; it is a recognition of the sacred role women play as nurturers, builders, and preservers of life and destiny. Across generations, mothers have remained the quiet force behind the stability and progress of our society.
In the social sphere, you raise families, instill values, and build communities rooted in love and discipline. In the spiritual realm, you are pillars of prayer, guardians of faith, and vessels through whom godly virtues are passed on. In the economic space, you demonstrate resilience and enterprise—supporting households, raising entrepreneurs, and contributing significantly to community development.
As a Local Government, we fully recognize that the strength of our society is anchored on the strength of our mothers and women. This understanding drives our commitment to policies and programmes that empower women and strengthen family systems.
Accordingly, we have designed and are implementing a Family Economic Empowerment Strategy, which places women at the center of our development agenda. This includes:
1. The Women Cooperative Revolving Scheme, providing structured financial access and support for women-led businesses.
2. A long-term investment in Girl Child Education, with a projected commitment of ₦3 billion over the next 10 years, aimed at securing a brighter and more inclusive future.
Our recent interventions—such as the distribution of 10,000 wrappers to 10,000 women and 10,000 bags of rice to 10,000 households during the last Yuletide—were only a knock on the door. They symbolize the beginning of a broader, more intentional journey toward sustainable empowerment and shared prosperity.
Going forward, we reaffirm our commitment to intentional partnerships with women, especially through community-based and faith-based platforms like the Catholic Women Organization. Together, we will:
- Build thriving women-led enterprises
- Create jobs and expand economic opportunities
- Strengthen family incomes and resilience
- Contribute meaningfully to the economic growth trajectory of our state
- Improve livelihoods across our communities
As a mark of our appreciation and support for your invaluable contributions, we are ready to launch and flag off the fund on 16th June 2026.
Dear mothers, your sacrifices are seen, your prayers are heard, and your impact is immeasurable. You are the heartbeat of our homes and the foundation of our future.
On this Mothering Sunday, we celebrate you, we honour you, and we stand with you.
Happy Mothering Sunday!
Yours faithfully,
Hon. Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike
