CONDOLENCE

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the Emir of Gombe, Alh. (Dr) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, and the entire family, relatives friends and associates of Late Mal. Muazu Ahmed (Joni-Joni) over the demise of this devoted Muslim and a distinguished gentleman. The death of Mal. Muazu Joni-Joni as he is popularly called is no doubt a monumental loss not only to his immediate family, associates, and community members, but to the entire people of Gombe particularly and the country at large.

May almighty Allah reward the deceased's good deeds with Aljannatul firdausi and grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear this great loss. Amin.

TA'AZIYYA

Ina mi'ka sa'kon ta'aziyya ga Mai Martaba Sarkin Gombe, Alh. (Dr) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, 'Iyalai, 'yan uwa, da dumbin abokan arziki ga marigayi Mal. Muazu Ahmed (Joni-Joni) bisa rashin wannan hazi'kin bawan Allah. Rasuwar wannan bawan Allah, Mal. Muazu Joni-Joni k**ar yadda akafi saninshi, tabbas babban rashi ne baga iyalansa ba kadai, bal ga 'daukacin al-umar Gombe dama Najeriya baki daya.

Allah yajikanshi, ya gafartamasa kuma ya tasheshi tare damu gaba'daya a cikin rahamarsa ranar gobe al-'kiyama ya sa aljannatul firdausi ce makomarmu gabadaya.

LET'S SET THE RECORDS STRAIGHT

One of the advantages of democracy is the freedom of speech. Everyone has a right to air his opinion or view regarding governance at every level in the country. However, some elements abuse the opportunity to promote falsehood and lies against government in the name of opposition. Most at times, there is often no need to provide counter statements against such claims especially when the issues raised are petty.

But for the benefit of the uninformed and in order to avoid continuous spread of falsehood, we are setting the records straight regarding some facilities that were recently renovated by Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) through a USAID funding in the State Specialist Hospital in Gombe.

It is no longer news that the government of Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has invested over 1bn Naira in the upgrading and renovation of the State Specialist Hospital in Gombe.

CIHP in their quest to also support the administration approached the management of the hospital and offered to provide funds (about 8m) to renovate the dry store where they keep their Anti Retroviral Drugs for HIV patients and the records department which is a block of building with about 6 average sized rooms. They did their procurement process by themselves and sent in their contractors to do the work. It is also common knowledge that since this governement came in to power, it has been actively engaging national and international development partners to canvass for support to the state. This intervention no matter how small therefore was seen as a dividend from the hard work of His Excellency to woo development to the state from whoever is willing to support the government.

Numerically, the records department and the store renovated by this support constitute less than 1% (precisely 0.8%) of the entire works done in the hospital by the Inuwa Yahaya administration.

Therefore, the insinuations by some people that the upgrading of the hospital was done through this USAID support is false and baseless. Need i say even if it were to be the case, the administration of Gov. Inuwa actively sought for this support and therefore has every right to take ownership and enjoy the credit. Moreover, its because if its magnanimity that the government graciously permitted the funder of this intervention to place that plague on those 2 structures to give honour to whom honour is due. The government obviously has more than enough to showcase as its achievements using its direct funds. 99.2% is no way near 0.8% except if 1 is greater than 10 alike when they said stealing is not corruption.
