Traditional leader assures Gombe AGILE Project of fullest support in the implementation of the project.
.....direct his subjects to embrace the project.

The Emir of Dukku, HRH, Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir Rashid II, says the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE Project has come to stay in Gombe State and the emirate will support the project for the benefit of the communities in the area.

The Emir stated this while receiving the Project Coordinator Dr Amina Haruna Abdul and her team who paid him a visit in continuation of their sensitization visits to the traditional leaders in the state.

The Royal father commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for approving the participation of the state in the project which he said will address the educational challenges of some communities as well improve the enrollment level of pupils and students in public schools.

The Emir also described the project coordinator as a strong woman with passion for Girl Child Education and congratulates all the Project team whom he described as professionals in their various fields.

While assuring his emirate's unflinching support to the project, he directed all the District and Village heads in the emirate to take the message back to their subjects and called on parents to enroll their wards in to schools.

Earlier, the Project Coordinator Dr Amina Haruna Abdul said the purpose of the visit is to reach out to the Royal fathers on the key objectives of the project and to seek for their support in that regard.

Dr Amina Haruna then described traditional institutions as key stakeholders in the implementation of the project and affirms the AGILE commitment towards the fulfillment of the project's mandate in line with it's mission for the benefit of the state.

AGILE branded sensitization kits and mission fliers were presented to the Emir during the visit by the project coordinator.

Stakeholders of the Education sector in Gombe State have been charged to support the implementation of AGILE Project in the state.

The charge was given by the Gombe State chairperson of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Project who doubles as the Commissioner of Education Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari during the maiden engagement meeting with stakeholders.
Prof Aishatu Maigari said Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is determined to address the out of school children across the eleven Local Government Areas of the state.

The Commissioner said AGILE Project will indeed complement the on going holistic and phased approach of the state government in the construction and renovations of schools since inception in 2019.

She then called on the project Implementation team to work in line with the set standards of the project to enable communities derive the benefits of the project.

Earlier, in his Goodwill message, the Special Adviser to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on International donors coordination Dr. Ishiyaku Ibrahim Babayo said AGILE Project is one of the projects that is given priority by the Gombe State Government in view of it's relevance to the policies and programs of the present administration.

Dr. Ishiyaku therefore called on the project team to extend their hands of fellowship to the Principals of public schools in the state whom he described as custodians and end users of the project even beyond it's period of implementation.

In her presentation, the AGILE Project Coordinator Dr Amina Haruna Abdul took the participants through the background of the project from it's inception in Nigeria with seven states, to the level of additional states which Gombe State falls within.

Dr. Amina also highlighted on the three basic components of the project and called on the stakeholders to rally round the project to derive maximum benefits.

In their separate Goodwill messages, the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development Asmau Mohammed Iganus, that of environment represented by a Director of the ministry and the Secretary of State Universal Basic Education Board Hajiya Yawoji Ahmed Bala appreciated the AGILE Project for the engagement and assured to contribute immensely towards the implementation of the project in the state.

Alhaji Yaya Hammari, the state chairman of the Parents Teachers Association commended the state government for expressing interest on the adolescent girls education and called for synergy between by the project and community leaders towards the smooth implementation of the project in the state.

In a closing remark at the event, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Alhaji Abubakar Adamu appreciated the state government for keying in to the project that is geared towards enrollment, retention and completion of girls education in the state.

Represented by the Director Science Technical and Vocational Education Ahmadu Usman Ali he thanked the participants of the project for their contributions during the program assuring that the project will be beneficial to the communities in the state.
