The Executive Chairman, Board Members, Management and Staff of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, GIRS, extend their warmest congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, Dan Majen Gombe, on his 7th anniversary as the Executive Governor of Gombe State. Seven years of visionary leadership have brought unprecedented transformation across every sector of the state.

In the past seven years, His Excellency has demonstrated exceptional commitment to good governance, fiscal responsibility, and inclusive development. Through his “Network” agenda, Gombe State has become a benchmark for infrastructural renewal, human capital development, and economic prosperity in the North East. His administration’s bold reforms have restored public confidence in government and attracted investments that are creating jobs for our teeming youths.

Under Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s stewardship, GIRS has undergone sweeping reforms that have modernized tax administration in the state. His “Gombe Goes Digital” policy and sustained support for automation, staff training, and taxpayer education have enabled the Service to block leakages, expand the tax net, and improve voluntary compliance. These reforms have been instrumental in boosting Internally Generated Revenue without imposing additional tax burdens on the people.

The Governor’s prudent management of resources has ensured that increased IGR translates directly into tangible dividends for Gombawas. From the construction of ultra-modern schools and hospitals, to road networks, rural electrification, water supply, and social intervention programmes, the impact of his leadership is visible in every local government. His focus on agriculture, MSMEs, and industrialization through projects like the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park is positioning Gombe as an investment destination.

As the revenue-generating arm of government, GIRS is proud to be a key partner in the success story of this administration. Gombe IRS Delegation Participates in 28th Annual Tax Conference in Abuja

The management team of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, under the auspicices of the Executive Chairman Aisha Adamu FCNA comprising directors and heads of departments, actively participated in the 28th Annual Tax Conference of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria held in Abuja.

The conference, which began on May 11 and continued throughout the week, took place at the prestigious Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre and attracted participants from across the nation and beyond.

The annual gathering served as a strategic platform for tax professionals, policymakers, revenue administrators, financial experts, development partners, and captains of industry to engage in robust discussions on contemporary tax administration, fiscal reforms, and sustainable economic growth.

Speaking on the significance of the conference, members of the GIRS delegation noted that the engagement provided valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, strengthen institutional collaboration, and explore innovative approaches aimed at improving revenue generation and tax compliance in line with international best practices.

This year’s conference, themed “Tax Reforms and Global Relevance: Positioning Nigeria’s Tax System for a Sustainable Future,” focused on key national and global tax issues, including digital taxation, tax policy harmonization, revenue optimization, investment-friendly tax systems, and strategies for enhancing transparency and accountability in tax administration.

Participants also examined the role of taxation in driving economic resilience, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening public sector financing amid evolving global economic realities.

The attendance of the GIRS delegation underscores the agency’s commitment to continuous professional development, institutional excellence, and the implementation of modern tax administration strategies that will enhance internally generated revenue for the sustainable development of Gombe State.

A ci gaba da gudanar da ayyukanta na yau da kullum, Hukumar Tattara Kuɗaɗen Shiga ta Jihar Gombe ta karɓi bakuncin shugabannin Ƙungiyar Masu Sayar da Motoci reshen jihar.

Da take gabatar da jawabin buɗe taron, shugabar hukumar, Hajiya Aisha Adamu FCNA, ta bayyana farin cikinta bisa haɗin kai da goyon bayan da shugabannin ƙungiyar ke bayarwa domin ganin Jihar Gombe ta ci gaba.

Taron ya mayar da hankali ne kan muhimmancin tabbatar da cewa duk wanda ya mallaki abin hawa ya sayi lambar mota ta hukuma wadda doka ta amince da ita. Shugabar ta bayyana cewa yin hakan ba wai kawai yana taimakawa wajen inganta tsaron ababen hawa ba ne, har ila yau yana ƙara wa gwamnati hanyoyin samun kuɗaɗen shiga.

Haka kuma, an tattauna kan sabunta rijistar ababen hawa, gujewa sayen lambobin bogi, tare da tabbatar da sanya lambar da ta dace da irin motar. Ta ce idan motar kasuwanci ce, ya kamata a sanya mata jan lamba, yayin da motocin hawa na kashin kai kuma suke amfani da shudin lamba.

GIRS Conducts Two-Day Training to Enhance Revenue Growth

The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) has organized a two-day capacity-building training aimed at enhancing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The training brought together staff from various departments of the Service to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective taxpayer engagement and improved service delivery as tax officials.
The programme was facilitated by Jamu Consultancy Limited, with tax experts serving as resource persons.

They included Prof. Bala Sulaiman Dalhat of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), who served as the lead consultant, and Dr. Lawan Yahaya, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, ATBU.

Prof. Bala Sulaiman Dalhat presented a paper titled, “Building Trust and Compliance: Winning Taxpayer Confidence for Revenue Growth in Gombe State.” while;

Dr. Lawan Yahaya also presented a paper titled, “Enhancing Tax Compliance Through Trust-Building: Winning Taxpayer Confidence and Its Implications for Gombe State Revenue.”

During the training, Prof. Bala commended the Executive Chairman of GIRS, Aisha Adamu, FCNA, for what he described as the laudable “Tax for Service” initiative demonstrated through the recent free medical outreach conducted by GIRS in Hina Community, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.

According to him, the initiative would help strengthen voluntary tax compliance and build public trust in the tax system.

“Hajiya, with this free medical outreach, tax compliance can become more voluntary because people will trust the government with their taxes. This initiative should be replicated in other communities, as it will help reduce enforcement challenges,” Prof. Bala stated.

Participants at the training expressed their appreciation for the initiative introduced by the management, particularly in the area of staff training and retraining.

They pledged to apply the knowledge gained from the training towards the development of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
