Zamfara State Ministry of Budget and Planning
Presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly

The Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, today joined His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, at the JB Secretariat, Gusau, for the formal presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

The proposed 2026 Budget, with an estimated size of ₦861.3 Billion, reflects the administration’s commitment to restoring economic stability, strengthening governance systems, and accelerating infrastructural and human capital development across the State. This is evident in the historic allocation of over 714 billion naira (83% of the total budget) to Capital Expenditure. In a remarkable show of prioritizing the education and health sectors of the state, the 2026 budget proposal allocates over 150 billion naira (17%) to these two critical human capital development sectors. The agricultural sector, being the main economic sector of the state, was allocated 86 billion naira (approximately 10%) to revitalize the economy of the state. The 2026 budget proposal also allocated a whopping 195 billion naira (22.6%) to infrastructural development, as no economy or social development is possible without the critical infrastructure required for its realization.

In his remarks, the Commissioner emphasized that the budget is strategically designed to improve service delivery, enhance security, boost economic resilience, and ensure transparency in public financial management. He reiterated that the Ministry remains dedicated to coordinating sustainable development planning in line with the Governor’s vision for a prosperous Zamfara.

The Ministry extends its appreciation to the Governor for his leadership and to the State House of Assembly for their continued collaboration in advancing the development agenda of Zamfara State.
