Zamfara State was created on 1st October 1996, out of the then Sokoto State. The Deputy Governor observed that the creation of the state was driven by aspirations for development, peace, identity and prosperity for its people.

He stressed that the anniversary should not only focus on the past but should also provide a platform for setting a clear vision for the future and inspiring renewed commitment to the development of the state.

He explained that the committee, which comprises more than 40 distinguished personalities, was deliberately constituted to reflect broad representation across different sectors and generations of leadership in Zamfara State.

The committee includes former Deputy Governors, former Secretaries to the State Government, former Heads of Civil Service, serving government officials, members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, traditional and religious stakeholders, academics and other prominent citizens.
