PUBLIC AWARENESS STATEMENT
CONDEMNATION OF THE UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT IN ORIIRE, OGBOMOSO
The Hausa Community of Sabo, Ibadan, under the leadership of Alhaji Auwalu Nalado Bawa, Wambai Hausawan Oyo State, strongly condemns the unfortunate security incident that occurred in the Oriire area of Ogbomoso.
We express our deepest sympathy to the affected families, the people of Oriire, Ogbomoso, and the entire Oyo State. We share in the pain of those affected and pray for the safety, recovery, and well-being of all victims.
As a peace-loving community that has lived harmoniously with our Yoruba brothers and sisters for generations, we wish to make it clear that criminality has no tribe, religion, or ethnic identity. The actions of criminals should never be used to stereotype or stigmatize any ethnic group.
The Hausa community in Oyo State has always been known for peaceful coexistence, commerce, community development, and respect for the laws of the land. We remain committed to supporting all lawful efforts aimed at strengthening security and maintaining peace across Oyo State.
We call on members of the public, especially the youth, to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, reject hate speech, and continue promoting unity among all communities. This is a time for cooperation, vigilance, and solidarity—not division.
We also commend the efforts of the Oyo State Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders working tirelessly to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Together, we can defeat criminality through unity, intelligence sharing, mutual trust, and collective responsibility.
May peace continue to reign in Oyo State and throughout Nigeria.
Signed:
Alhaji Auwalu Nalado Bawa
