The Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, through its Adolescent Health Unit, successfully convened the Adolescent Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting as part of its commitment to strengthening adolescent health and development across the state. The meeting brought together government ministries, development partners, and civil society organizations to review progress made on adolescent health interventions implemented over the last quarter, while providing a platform to share updates, harmonize ongoing activities, and reinforce collaboration towards achieving the objectives of the Oyo State Adolescent Health Strategic Plan.
Discussions centered on mapping partner interventions to prevent duplication of efforts, identifying gaps and challenges affecting adolescent health service delivery, education, and youth empowerment, and developing practical recommendations to improve service uptake among adolescents. The meeting also emphasized strengthening coordination, accountability, data sharing, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of adolescent-focused programmes and sustainable health outcomes across Oyo State.
The meeting was attended by representatives from MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices, COSWOHI, the Oyo State Ministries of Education, Youth and Sports, and Women Affairs, Slum and Rural Health Initiative, Blessed Health Spring, Make Her Smile Africa, Adolescent Health and Wellness Foundation, LGA Adolescent Focal Persons, Foundation for Integration Care, Plan Health Advocacy & Development Foundation, One Life Initiative, Albarka Health Spring Foundation, Society for Family Health (SFH), the National Youth Council, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), and Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). Their participation reaffirmed a shared commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that will improve the health, well being, and future of adolescents throughout Oyo State.
