OYO STATE AGENCY FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS WITH PROTAAN YOUTH SUMMIT 6.0 TO PROMOTE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, CREATIVITY, AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development proudly partnered with the PROTAAN Youth Summit 6.0, a remarkable gathering dedicated to empowering young people through innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and collaboration.

The summit served as a vibrant platform for young entrepreneurs, artisans, creatives, and innovators to showcase their talents and demonstrate the limitless potential of Oyo State’s youth. Participants exhibited a wide range of vocational and entrepreneurial skills, including hairdressing, shoemaking, textile production, tag making, bath and body product production, and many other creative ventures that reflect the ingenuity and resilience of our young people.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Adebowale Falana, commended the organizers of the summit for creating opportunities that inspire, equip, and connect young people. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster youth development and economic empowerment across the state.

Prince Falana also expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, for his unwavering commitment to youth-focused policies and programs. According to him, Governor Makinde has consistently created an enabling environment where young people can thrive, innovate, build sustainable livelihoods, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the state.

He emphasized that the administration’s investments in youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, education, and capacity building continue to position Oyo State as a leading destination for youth excellence and opportunities.

The Chairman further encouraged participants to remain focused, continuously improve their skills, embrace innovation, and take advantage of the numerous opportunities being created by the Oyo State Government. He noted that the future belongs to young people who are prepared to create value, solve problems, and make positive impacts in their communities.

Oyo Govt Begins Distribution of First Batch of 1,000 SAfER Rice Bags to Vulnerable Youth Groups

The Oyo State Government has flagged off the distribution of the first batch of 1,000 bags of SAfER rice to vulnerable youth groups across the state’s 33 local government areas.

The distribution, coordinated through the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development (AYD), commenced on Tuesday at the Agency’s office in Ibadan as part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Sustainable Actions for Economic Recovery (SAfER) initiative aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship.

Speaking during the flag-off, the Chairman of the Agency, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, stated that the intervention reflects the Makinde administration’s continued commitment to improving the welfare of young people. He explained that beneficiaries were carefully selected from vulnerable youth groups across the state to ensure transparency, fairness, and equitable distribution.

The rice was presented to the Agency by the Chairman of the Oyo State SAfER Committee and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Segun Ogunwuyi, for onward distribution.

Hon. Falana encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the support, assuring them that the state government remains committed to implementing people-centred policies and programmes that empower youths and improve their socio-economic well-being.

Beneficiaries described the intervention as timely and appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritising the welfare of young people. Distribution will continue in phases until all designated vulnerable youth groups across Oyo State receive their allocations under the SAfER programme.

The 3rd Oyo State Youth Parliament was inaugurated on Friday, 26 June 2026, at the House of Chiefs Chamber, Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, Ibadan.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, Governor Seyi Makinde charged the 32 members to uphold integrity, discipline, accountability and selfless service, and to choose dialogue, ideas and service above personal interest.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development through investments in education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, technology, sports and youth inclusion in governance, while urging the Parliament to serve as a platform for leadership development and policy innovation.

Goodwill messages from Hon. Adebisi Yusuff, Dr. Abimbola Adekanmbi, Hon. Sikiru Sanda and other stakeholders called on the parliamentarians to promote good governance, legislative excellence and effective representation of young people across the state.

A charge by the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, urging the newly inaugurated members to prepare for future leadership responsibilities while assuring them of continued mentorship and capacity-building support from the Agency.

The emergence of Oyekola Marvelous O., representing Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency, as Speaker of the 3rd Oyo State Youth Parliament, while Afolabi Fathia emerged as Deputy Speaker.

In his inaugural address, Speaker Oyekola Marvelous pledged to provide purposeful, transparent and inclusive leadership, foster unity among members, promote constructive legislative engagement and strengthen collaboration with government and relevant stakeholders to advance youth development and good governance across Oyo State.

The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing responsible, visionary and impactful young leaders as the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development (AYD) officially held the valedictory ceremony for the 2nd Oyo State Youth Parliament Assembly.

Held at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, Ibadan, the ceremony celebrated the remarkable journey and contributions of the outgoing Assembly while welcoming a new generation of youth leaders who will continue to strengthen youth participation in governance.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, commended members of the 2nd Assembly for their dedication, legislative engagements and unwavering commitment to advancing youth development across Oyo State.

Hon. Falana also appreciated His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for his continued investment in youth leadership and for creating opportunities that empower young people to actively contribute to governance and policy development.

He reminded both the outgoing parliamentarians and members-select of the 3rd Assembly that leadership is a lifelong responsibility that extends beyond holding public office.

“Leadership does not end when your tenure ends. While titles may change, the responsibility to serve, inspire and create positive impact remains. Continue to be ambassadors of good leadership and agents of development wherever you find yourselves,” he charged.

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, formally inducted the 32 Members-Select of the 3rd Assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, reaffirming the Oyo State Government’s commitment to youth inclusion, leadership development, and participatory governance.

The induction ceremony brought together government officials, youth development stakeholders, parliamentary experts, and the newly selected youth lawmakers from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Agency, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, charged the inductees to embrace purposeful leadership, unity, innovation, and legislative excellence. He emphasized the need for members to prioritize the interests of young people across Oyo State while championing policies and initiatives that promote sustainable development.

The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Mrs. Mustapha K.O., congratulated the Members-Select on their successful emergence and urged them to uphold the values of integrity, accountability, and service throughout their tenure.

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, under the leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, hosted the leadership of the Association of Graphic Artists and Sign Writers of Nigeria (ASGAS) Youth Wing, Oyo State Chapter, in a productive stakeholder engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and addressing concerns within the signage and advertising sector.

During the meeting, the ASGAS Youth Wing leadership commended the Agency for creating a platform for dialogue and pledged its commitment to peaceful engagement and partnership with government institutions. The association also expressed its readiness to contribute meaningfully to economic growth, regulatory compliance, and revenue generation in Oyo State.

In his remarks, Hon. Falana reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to inclusive governance, stakeholder engagement, and youth empowerment. Oyo Agency for Youth Felicitates Muslim Faithful on Hijrah 1448AH

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, under the visionary leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Oyo State and beyond on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448 AH.

In a goodwill message commemorating the new Islamic calendar year, released on Tuesday by the Head of the Media Unit to the Chairman Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates, the Agency Chairman Falana, described the Hijrah as a significant event in Islamic history that symbolizes faith, sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering commitment to noble ideals.

Falana urged young people to draw inspiration from the lessons of the historic migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), emphasizing the importance of moral uprightness, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and dedication to community development.

According to the him, the commencement of a new Hijrah year presents an opportunity for reflection, renewal of purpose, and recommitment to values that promote unity, progress, and societal advancement.

While congratulating the Muslim faithful on witnessing the beginning of the year 1448 AH, the Agency prayed for divine guidance, abundant blessings, good health, and prosperity for all residents of Oyo State.
