*Minister Balarabe Abbas Lawal Visits Forestry College in Maiduguri*

The Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, recently visited the Federal College of Forest Resources Management, Maiduguri, a constituent college of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, FRIN.

He was accompanied by Directors-General of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Environment.

On arrival, the Minister and his delegation were received by the DG/CEO of FRIN, Prof. Zacharia B. Yaduma, and the College Provost, Dr. Modu Mala. The Minister inspected facilities at the College.

*EMERALD FOREST RESERVE PARTNERS WITH FRIN TO ADVANCE BIODIVERSITY RESEARCH IN NIGERIA*

Recently, a delegation from Emerald Forest Reserve, Osun State, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, FRIN, Prof. Zacharia B. Yaduma, to strengthen research collaboration for biodiversity conservation.

Emerald Forest Reserve is a 300-acre private reserve located in Osun State. According to Dr. Dayo Abayomi, one of its Directors, the reserve was recently designated as a Key Biodiversity Area by an international body. The forest hosts rich biodiversity including plant species, wild animals, insects, amphibians, birds, and fungi.
During the visit, both teams discussed areas of mutual interest and capacity building for forest ecosystem management.

Expressing FRIN’s commitment, Prof. Yaduma and his management team welcomed the partnership and emphasized FRIN’s mandate to provide scientific solutions for sustainable forest management in Nigeria.
A Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, was signed to formalize the collaboration.

The Emerald Forest Reserve delegation included Dr. Dayo Abayomi, Dr. Dupe Ladipo, Miss Yasmin Brandrup Versi, and Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, who was represented.

This partnership aligns with FRIN’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with private and international stakeholders to protect Nigeria’s forest resources and biodiversity for future generations.
