Girls' Secondary School, Igbo-Ukwu Welcome to our world. This is the official page of G.S.S. Igbo-Ukwu Okeke (Ogene Igbo-Ukwu). She draws her students from all the states of federation.

Girls' Secondary School Igbo-Ukwu is one of the Girls' Secondary Schools in Anambra State established in 1977 the Igbo-Ukwu Development Union (IDU) under the leadership of Chief Sir S.O.N. Subsequently, smaller parcel of land owned by certain humanitarian and patriotic members of NGO village Igbo-Ukwu were donated to the land. The college is designed to train young girls for moral and academic ex

cellence achieved through docility, hard work, self control, fear of Good and determination. The college continued to be blessed with seasoned, dedicated, disciplined and industrious administrators and pleading staff which radiated through the students' performance in SSCE (WASCE, NECO) and BECE. Most of the land on which the school now stands was previously known as "Ezurukwu forest". G.S.S.I has provided education four girls in Nigeria thus creating equal gender opportunities in various professional fields. The School Motto: In Cantate et Justitia Laboremus

GOODBYE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION!

Today, 31st July, 2026, Girls' Secondary School, Igbo-Ukwu joins other public secondary schools across Anambra State in officially bringing the 2025/2026 Academic Session to a successful close.

As our joyful students wave goodbye to another remarkable school year, we celebrate the knowledge acquired, friendships built, achievements recorded, and valuable lessons learned. It has indeed been a session filled with growth, hard work, discovery, and memorable experiences.

We give thanks to Almighty God for His guidance, protection and blessings throughout the session. We also express our sincere appreciation to our dedicated teachers, hardworking students, supportive parents and guardians, esteemed Old Girls and all stakeholders whose contributions made the session a resounding success.

A special appreciation goes to the members of the Education Club for their commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to be nurtured academically and socially. Your dedication, active participation, and sense of responsibility have kept the Club vibrant and progressive. Through your passion for learning and self-development, you have demonstrated that education extends beyond the classroom and serves as a foundation for responsible leadership and positive societal impact.

As we proceed on the long vacation, we encourage all our students to remain disciplined, engage in productive activities, continue learning, and be worthy ambassadors of the school wherever they find themselves.

Looking ahead to the 2026/2027 Academic Session, we are greatly encouraged and fully convinced that it will bring even greater opportunities for all-round development through enhanced academic excellence, social growth, moral uprightness, extramural participation, leadership development, and civic engagement. SHE NEVER ASKED TO BE NOTICED, BUT HER BRILLIANCE COULDN'T BE IGNORED

Today, we celebrate Ikenwa Mmesoma Perpetual, one of the bright minds from Girls' Secondary School, Igbo-Ukwu, who has successfully completed her SS3 journey.

Mmesoma is the kind of girl who lets her results speak for her. Quiet, focused and exceptionally intelligent, she never chased attention or recognition. Yet, through her outstanding academic performance, good character and consistent dedication, she earned the respect of everyone around her.

She is not just brilliant in the classroom; she is humble, respectful and well-mannered. Her calm nature and disciplined lifestyle have made her a source of pride to her teachers, classmates, parents and the school community.

WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!!

The Children's Day Art Competition and Exhibition held today, 2nd June, 2026, at the NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART, Igbo-Ukwu, was a huge success for our school.

Competing alongside several schools, our students displayed excellence, creativity and discipline, bringing home notable achievements.

1st Position – Marching Competition

Okeluo Jennifer Chioma: 2nd Position – Textile Design (Junior Category)

These achievements reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers who continue to bring out the best in them.

We especially appreciate our Biology Teacher, Mrs Chibugo Okeke for taking time to prepare them and Fine Art Guru, Mr. Arinze Kyrian , for his tireless efforts in nurturing our students in art and culture, helping them develop their talents and confidently showcase their creativity on a larger stage.

We thank the management, staff, parents and students whose support contributed to this success.
