Rapid Response Squad - RRS RRS is an arm of the Lagos State Police Command. It was set-up to speedily respond to emergencies within Lagos state.

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) is an arm of the Lagos State Police Command. It was set up to speedily respond to emergencies within the state. It carries out regular patrols of the state and has various 'pinning-down' points across the city. The RRS responds to distress calls made to 767 and 112.

Yesterday, the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) around 11:30 a.m. arrested a suspected vandal, Safiyanu Abubakar, 20 years old.

He was caught moving from house to house removing aluminum windows and electricity cables from residential buildings in Eyita Estate, Itamaga Ikorodu.

He has been charged to court.

Around 8:00 p.m. on 24th May, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives monitoring Ojota Bridge caught Asiru Tukor, 27 years old in the act removing cables from electric pole in Ojota.

He made significant confessions. Efforts to arrest his accomplices and buyer still in progress.

He has been charged to court for prosecution.

POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR IMPERSONATING LAGOS LASAMBUS OFFICIALS

The operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two suspects for impersonating officials of Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) and exploiting unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspects, Nuche Joseph, 34 years old and Lawal Rofiat, 29 years old, were arrested by RRS operatives on 29th April, 2025 while posing as officials of Lagos State Ambulances Service (LASAMBUS).

The suspects, working with BrainGrace Ambulance service, have been impersonating Lagos Ambulance Service and fleecing accident victims of various sums of money for pre – hospital care which is rendered free of charge to accident victims in the state.

The fraudulent activity of the suspects was exposed on social media by relatives of an accident victim who BrainGrace Ambulance forced to cough up N150,000:00 for pre-hospital care but the victim died before getting to the hospital.

The relatives of the deceased, realizing the service was designed by Lagos State Government to be rendered free of charge felt exploited. They took to social media to expose BrainGrace Ambulance erroneously claiming that they were defrauded by Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) officials.

The two suspects have made confessional statement to the police and have been charged to court.

RRS ROLLS OUT MORE PATROL TEAMS TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY

Stemming from the injection of more patrol vehicles into Rapid Response Squad (RRS) fleet by the Lagos State Government, the Squad has created more patrol teams to strengthen security in the state.

The creation of the patrol teams by the Commander, Lagos RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye was in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh.

The patrol teams created are: Highway Patrol teams, to secure all the entry and exit points in Lagos; Metro patrol teams, to shore up the inner city’s patrol, and Alpha Squad, to speed up RRS’s response to emergencies in the state.

CSP Jejeloye also noted that power bikes have been deployed as directed by the Commissioner of Police to complement the squad’s patrol of the city, adding that enhancing the security of the state is work in progress.

Lagos State Government added to RRS fleet about two weeks ago with Toyota hilux pick-up trucks to enhance the squad’s capacity to fortify security in the state.

The State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on 19th December, 2024 handed over 250 new patrol vehicles, hardware, communication gadgets, and protective gears to security agencies as part of efforts to enhance security operations across the State.

Again, FOUR HUNTERS FROM KANO ARRESTED WITH ARMS, AMMUNITION IN EDO

The Edo State Police Command on Saturday said operatives of the Edo Security Network had arrested another set of four hunters who came from Kano State with arms and ammunition when they arrived in the state.

The apprehended hunters are Yusuf Abdulkarim, Mujaheed Garba, Sh*ttu Idris, and Jamilu Habibu.

In a statement by the Command spokesperson, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, on Saturday night, the command said the statement became necessary in order to dispel the misinformation on social media that four herdsmen armed with guns were arrested at a hotel in the state and handed over to the police.

The command disclosed that contrary to the report, those apprehended were hunters and not herdsmen.

The command added that when they were apprehended, items recovered from them were three dane guns, six empty cartridges, three half-filled cartridges, four cutlasses, and two daggers.

The statement reads: “The Edo State Police Command is aware of misinformation on social media that four herdsmen armed with guns were arrested at Americanus Hotel on Osemwenkhae Street after Big Joe Motors, Ramat Park, Orogbeni Quarters and handed over to the police.

“The command wishes to inform the general public that four suspects: Yusuf Abdulkarim, Mujaheed Garba, Sh*ttu Idris, and Jamilu Habibu, intercepted by a member of the Edo Security Network with three Dane guns, six empty cartridges, three half-filled cartridges, four cutlasses and two daggers were swiftly taken over by officers from the Ikpoba Hill Police Station.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that they are hunters, not herdsmen. They were from Doguwa in Kano State, heading to Uvbe community in Orhionwon Local Government Area of Edo State. Meanwhile, an investigation is ongoing.

“The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, wishes to use this opportunity to discourage residents of the state from circulating wrong information capable of causing unnecessary tension.”

LNSC ARRESTS COUPLE FOR CHILD ABUSE

The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LSNC) has arrested a couple for child abuse in Ikorodu area of the State.

The couple were arrested today at No 4/5 Oreagba Street, Olowu CDA, Grammar School, Ikorodu by LSNC officers attached to Grammar School, Igbogbo, Ikorodu for child abuse and inflicting injuries on the victim serially for 18 months.

The suspects, Mrs Abanishe Temitope, 35, and her hubby Mr Abanishe Taofeek were alleged to have constantly abused their 15-year old son (Names withheld) for 18 months.

The suspects and the victim were taken to the Ikorodu Command of the agency in company of two CDA chairmen and a community member.

The suspects in their confessional statement confirmed the allegation and pleaded for leniency.

The victim was taken to Ita-Elewa Primary Health Centre for first aid while the case has been transferred to Ikorodu Police Division, Igbogbo, Ikorodu for further investigation.

POLICE UNCOVER BABY FACTORY IN LAGOS

Lagos State Police Command on Monday, said it uncovered a baby factory in the Ijegun, Alimosho area of the state.

The operation took place on Saturday, at about 2: 00 p.m following credible information from the Afurugbin area where the factory was located.

Six adults and three children were rescued from the factory, which followed the arrests of the baby factory operator and her accomplices.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, disclosed this as part of his achievements in the past few weeks.

“On April 5, 2025 at about 1400 hours, a credible intel was received that there was a baby factory at Afurugbin, Ijegun area.

Based on the report, detectives of the Command were quickly mobilized to the scene. The operator, one Mariam Vincent (35) and two others, Orie Ruth (23) and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18) were immediately arrested.

The following victims; Precious (24) Magdalene (25) Adaobi (23) Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), Amaka (26) and three children; Destiny (7), Miracle (5) and Success (2) held in captivity, were rescued.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have abducted their victims in different area of the state for the purpose of running a baby factory.

Investigation is in progress.”
