: FORMER OSUN SPEAKER BECOMES FIRST ADC GUBERNATORIAL ASPIRANT TO SUBMIT FORM

In a historic move within Osun State politics, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Najeem Folasayo SalaamSalaamNajeem Folasayo Salaam officially submitted his expression of interest form to contest as a aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The submission, which took place at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja this evening, marks Dr. Salaam as the first aspirant from the party to take this significant step.

The event drew notable political figures from across the state, demonstrating growing support for Dr. Salaam’s ambition. Among those present were Senator Adelere Adeyemi Oriolowo and Honourable Rasaq Salinsile, who accompanied the former Speaker during the submission of his forms. Their presence underscores the strong political backing and alliance forming around Dr. Salaam ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial primaries.

Dr. Salaam, widely respected for his tenure as Speaker and his contributions to legislative governance in Osun State, is expected to leverage his experience and network to galvanize support among party members. Political analysts have described his early submission as a strategic move aimed at consolidating influence within the ADC and setting the pace for other aspirants.

Expressing his vision for the state, Dr. Salaam emphasized the need for inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, signaling his commitment to delivering transformative leadership if elected. Sources close to the aspirant indicate that further political engagements and consultations across the state are already being planned as part of his campaign strategy.

With Dr. Salaam’s formal entry, the ADC gubernatorial race in Osun State officially kicks off, positioning him as a frontrunner and setting the tone for what promises to be a competitive primary process.

ADC Picks Dr. Najeem Salaam as Osun 2026 Governorship Candidate After Lagos Decision

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam as its governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun election, following a decisive vote held in Lagos on Friday.

The party’s apex leadership, after a closed-door deliberation, voted in favour of the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, thereby edging out fellow contender Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, a former Secretary to the State Government.

According to party insiders, the Lagos meeting was convened to settle lingering divisions within the ADC and produce a single, consensus-backed candidate ahead of the 2026 polls.

The decision ultimately swung in Dr. Salaam’s favour, marking a significant shift in internal party dynamics.

Although Adeoti lost the bid, party stakeholders have urged both camps to maintain unity as the ADC prepares to confront a competitive political field in the coming months.

The party is expected to present Dr. Salaam formally to its Osun chapter and unveil its roadmap for the 2026 election season soon.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS SCORED A1 IN POLITICS AND F9 IN GOOD GOVERNANCE

I thank the thousands of loyalists, supporters and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro Federal Constituency of the State of Osun who, on Tuesday, trooped out to receive me and the party hierarchy in the country as we visited the area to kick off the inauguration of party officials and structures across the nine federal constituencies of the state.

We went to Ila to reawaken the consciousness of our people to the state of things in our country and to seek their unflinching support and solidarity.

I informed them that the ADC will restore responsible leadership and good governance to our country.
We are the friends of the masses. The policies of the current administration have sent thousands into the shackles of poverty, hunger and bad governance.

This government has scored A1 in Politics and F9 in Good Governance. This is what our party is determined to address.

There are 37,000 kilometres of federal

PRESS BRIEFING BY THE CHAIRMAN OF OMOLUABI PROGRESSIVES ON THE IMPOSITION OF THE ILLEGAL LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN AND DIVERSION OF GOVERNMENT FUNDS INTO PRIVATE ACCOUNT, HELD AT ORANMIYAN HOUSE OSOGBO ON 6/ OCTOBER/2025

Ladies and gentlemen of the press,

We have called you here today because democracy in Osun and in Nigeria is under direct attack.

You will recall that the Osun Local Government election of October 15, 2022 was conducted in total disregard of the Electoral Act. A Federal High Court has already nullified those elections. The appeal filed by APC was struck out. That judgment stands today — valid, binding, and unchallenged.

The Omoluabi Progressives view with grave concern the ongoing brazen assault on democracy, rule of law, and the sanctity of our Constitution by the APC-led Federal Government.

It is a matter of judicial record that the Osun State Local Government elections conducted on October 15, 2022, under the so-called OSSIEC Law 2022, have been nullified by a subsisting judgment of the Federal High Court in the Action Peoples Party (APP) suit. That judgment remains valid, binding, and unchallenged since the APC’s appeal was struck out for want of diligent prosecution. By operation of law, therefore, those parading themselves as council chairmen and councillors are YES OR NO ILLEGAL CHAIRMEN. They have no lawful mandate, no constitutional backing, and no electoral legitimacy.

To state the facts of the issue:

1.The State High Court (Ilesa) earlier had Ordered OSSIEC to conduct elections in Osun State after the APC YES/NO sham.

2.You will recollect that there are two Courts of Appeal interventions in the matter. The suit no_ (CA/AK/270/2022) was a pre-election case filed by the PDP which challenged the election on the ground that it did not fulfil the provisions of the Electoral Act on the number of days notice to be given before an election could be held. Although the case was struck out on technical grounds BUT the substa
