PDP Ward Suspends Former Governorship Aspirant, Ladi Hassan Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities in Kwara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Magaji Ngeri Ward, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, has suspended a party member, Mr. Hassan Ali Oladimeji, over alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct.

In a suspension letter dated June 2, 2026, and signed by the Ward Chairman, Prince Aliyu Mohammed Kolawole, alongside the Ward Secretary and Chairman of the Ward Disciplinary Committee, Mr. Taofeek Jimba, the party accused Ladi Hassan of engaging in acts deemed contrary to the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

According to the letter, the Ward Executive Committee had earlier issued a query dated May 30, 2026, detailing allegations of anti-party activities against him and directing him to appear before a seven-man disciplinary committee within 48 hours.

The ward leadership stated that Ladi Hassan acknowledged receipt of the earlier correspondence but allegedly failed to honour the invitation, an action it said amounted to an admission of guilt.

“As stated in the said letter, you were directed to appear before a seven-man committee set up by the Ward Executive Committee within 48 hours of receipt. Your failure to comply constitutes an admission of guilt of anti-party activities, acts of indiscipline, and gross misconduct,” the letter stated.

Citing Sections 57 and 59(1) of the party’s constitution, the Ward Executive Committee announced a one-month suspension from all party activities and functions with immediate effect.

The suspension bars the affected Alhaji Ladi Hassan from participating in meetings, programmes, and activities of the party at ward, local government, state, and national levels during the period.

The committee also warned that failure to comply with the suspension terms could attract further disciplinary actions in line with the PDP constitution.

Meanwhile, political observers note that the development comes within the context of lingering political realignments in the Kwara PDP following the party’s last governorship primary election.

Alhaji Ladi Hassan, a former PDP governorship aspirant in the state, had participated in the party’s governorship primary after signing the consensus agreement among aspirants but eventually lost the ticket to Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu.

Kwara PDP Chairman Praises Saraki for Facilitating Federal Appointments, Charges Beneficiaries to Excel

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Isa Adamu Bawa, has congratulated indigenes of the state who recently received federal appointments, noting that the achievement was made possible through the influence and commitment of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Bawa described the appointments as another demonstration of Saraki’s dedication to creating opportunities for Kwarans and ensuring that qualified individuals from the state are adequately represented at the federal level.

In a statement issued on the development, the PDP chairman explained that the appointments align with a broader agenda aimed at increasing Kwara’s presence in national institutions while opening doors for professional advancement and public service engagement.

He stated that the initiative reflects a leadership philosophy centered on talent development, capacity enhancement, and long-term empowerment of the people.

“This is part of the transformational vision of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki. The process has been ongoing, it remains active, and even greater opportunities lie ahead for Kwarans,” Bawa said.

According to him, true leadership is measured by its ability to uplift people and create meaningful opportunities. He added that Saraki has consistently demonstrated this through his efforts in securing appointments, employment opportunities, scholarships, and empowerment programmes for many citizens of the state.

Bawa encouraged those who benefited from the appointments to live up to expectations by carrying out their duties with dedication, professionalism, and integrity, while representing Kwara State positively.

He also reiterated the PDP’s resolve to continue supporting programmes and policies that promote youth empowerment, employment generation, economic growth, and improved living standards for residents of the state.

The chairman expressed confidence that more opportunities would become available to Kwarans through the commitment of leaders who prioritize service, progress, and the overall development of the state.

2027 is not just another election — it's a decision about the future of Kwara's youth.

For too long, many young people have waited for opportunities, jobs, quality education, and a government that truly understands their struggles and aspirations.

Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka (SBK) represents a new opportunity to build a Kwara where talent is rewarded, businesses can grow, and young people are empowered to succeed.

SBK's vision is centered on development, innovation, youth empowerment, quality education, economic growth, and inclusive governance. His engineering background reflects a mindset focused on solving problems, building infrastructure, and delivering practical results.

The future belongs to those who participate in shaping it. As young people, our votes are our voices. If we want a Kwara that creates opportunities instead of excuses, a Kwara that invests in its youth instead of neglecting them, then we must stand up and be counted.

2027 is about progress. 2027 is about hope. 2027 is about building a better Kwara together.

Support the vision. Support progress. Support Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka (SBK) for Governor of Kwara State.

The future starts with us.

Today in Ilorin, I joined young women from across Kwara at the Young Women Symposium organised by Saraki Young Women in Politics, led by Barr. Omotosho Monsurat Peace.

These are young women interested in learning skills, improving themselves and taking a more active role in society and politics.

I reminded them that education, vocational training, and civic participation remain among the strongest tools any young person can have today. I was also glad to see that many of them are already registered voters, ready to play their part in the democratic process.

We also distributed empowerment materials and work tools to participants across different trades and vocational areas, practical things they can put to use right away.

I commend the organisers for putting together an initiative built on real support and genuine opportunity for young women.

Act Wisely, Our Brothers and Sisters!

In every generation, there comes a time when people must pause, reflect, and choose the path that will shape their future. Today is one of those moments. Our communities, our nation, and our future depend greatly on the decisions we make now. That is why we must all act wisely, our brothers and sisters.

Wisdom is not only about intelligence; it is about understanding consequences, valuing peace, and choosing unity over division. In times of tension, confusion, or political uncertainty, many voices will try to influence us. Some will spread hatred, falsehood, and bitterness for personal gain. But as responsible citizens and members of society, we must not allow emotions to control our actions.

Our strength has always been in our unity. Whether we come from different tribes, religions, cultures, or political backgrounds, we all share the same desire for progress, peace, and a better future for our children. Division only weakens us, while understanding and cooperation strengthen the foundation of our society.

Acting wisely also means speaking with respect and behaving with maturity. Words are powerful. A single careless statement can create conflict, while wise words can heal wounds and build bridges. We must learn to disagree without hatred and support our beliefs without destroying relationships.

As youths and future leaders, we carry a great responsibility. The future of our communities lies in our hands. We must reject violence, manipulation, and destructive behavior. Instead, let us embrace education, dialogue, patience, and positive engagement. Progress cannot be achieved through anger and chaos but through wisdom and collective effort.

To our brothers and sisters everywhere: let us think beyond today. Let us choose actions that will bring honor, stability, and development tomorrow. Let us support peace over conflict, truth over propaganda, and unity over division.
History remembers those who acted wisely during difficult times. May we be counted among those who chose wisdom, peace, and progress for the sake of humanity and future generations.

Together, with wisdom and understanding, we can build a stronger and brighter tomorrow for all.
