Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki is a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and politician from Ilorin, Kwara State. He is the Founder, Board Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Kursi Investments Limited, a diversified conglomerate with core operations in mining, and interests spanning agriculture, construction, real estate, financial services, IT, and commodity trading. He is a 2027 gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.
Early Life and Education
Born on 8 October 1975 into the Ilé Olọpa family of the Seriki Gambari compound in Ilorin, Kwara State, Seriki was raised in a modest household that emphasized hard work, humility, and community responsibility. His formative years were spent in Jos, Ilorin, and other parts of northern Nigeria. He completed his primary and secondary education in northern Nigeria. The cultural and communal values of the Ilorin Emirate shaped his approach to business and public service.
Business Career
Seriki founded Kursi Investments Limited in 2005 as a mining, processing, and trading company. Under his leadership, Kursi has grown into one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous gold mining, processing, and refining entities, with a processing capacity of 8,500 tons of ore per day. The company holds mineral titles across 22 of Nigeria’s 36 states and trades in gold, lithium, lead, zinc, tin, columbite, tantalite, monazite, manganese, wolframite, graphite, and fluorite for global off-takers.
Kursi Investments employs over 1,000 workers of diverse nationalities and maintains its headquarters in Abuja, with operational sites nationwide. Seriki has driven international expansion and sustainability efforts, including participation in the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh (January 2025) and the 12th Annual Mining Series in Cape Town. Kursi served as Diamond Sponsor for Nigeria Mining Week 2024 and is a member of the Responsible Jewelry Council, underscoring commitments to ethical sourcing, worker safety, and environmental preservation.

He is credited with establishing Africa’s first mobile phone repair assurance company prior to Kursi’s founding.
Political Involvement
Seriki entered politics in 2007, contesting for the House of Representatives under the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) in Kwara State. He later became a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In 2018, he obtained the APC nomination form for the 2019 Kwara governorship but was the first aspirant to step down to ensure party unity, endorsing Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. He subsequently served as Director-General of the APC Campaign Council in Kwara for both the 2019 and 2023 elections, contributing to the party’s victories. He also contested the APC senatorial primary in 2023. He remains a prominent APC chieftain and has declared interest in the 2027 Kwara governorship.
His political agenda emphasizes mining revival, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, investment attraction, youth empowerment, and digital inclusion. He is a vocal advocate for strengthening subnational economies and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Philanthropy & Community Service
Seriki is President and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Yahaya Seriki Foundation (YSF), established to support underprivileged rural populations and youth. Key initiatives include:
- Economic Empowerment: Disbursed ₦250 million in November 2023 and ₦320 million by August 2023 in cash grants to 1,800+ artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs in Kwara for poverty alleviation and business growth.
- Healthcare: Organized free medical camps for diagnostics, treatment, and awareness in underserved communities, serving thousands. Covers hospital bills and supports widows.
- Education: Provides scholarships that have produced PhD graduates and has donated school buses.
- Infrastructure: Provides motorized and hand-pump boreholes in communities like Jebba, Bode Sa’adu, and Okutala; supports staffing at health centers and teacher employment.
- Other Support: Large-scale food relief for vulnerable families; ₦100 million donated to Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union in December 2024 for welfare projects.
Through Kursi Investments, he has directly employed over 500 individuals in Kwara and over 1,000 nationally. He is also founder of Araba FC, promoting youth sports development.
