PRESS RELEASE
Equity, Justice, and Inclusion: Why Kwara North Deserves the Governorship in 2027
Distinguished Members of the Press
We address this conference today with deep respect to the leadership of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the Executive Governor of Kwara State and the Chairman of Nigerian Governors' Forum, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, CON, Sardauna of Ilorin.
We speaks as a Coalition of Kwara Central Political Associations who are committed to the principles of loyalty, equity, fairness, justice and winning that underpin our democracy. We are loyal card-carrying members of the APC, voting in various Polling Units across Kwara Central Senatorial District.
As Kwara State approaches another critical political transition in 2027, the question of fairness, equity, and balanced representation among the three senatorial districts has become not just relevant, but urgent.
In the past seven election cycles since the return of democratic governance in 1999, Kwara North Senatorial District has never had the opportunity to produce a Governor of the state. In contrast, Kwara South has held the governorship for two election cycles of eight years, while Kwara Central, by 2027, would have occupied the position for five election cycles, a cumulative period of 20 years.
This imbalance is not merely political, it is a question of justice.
For a state that prides itself on unity, peaceful coexistence, and shared progress, it is only fair and morally right that power rotates to Kwara North. Equity demands it. Justice requires it. Inclusion makes it sustainable.
A government that reflects all parts of the state strengthens trust, deepens a sense of belonging, and fosters genuine development across all regions. Denying Kwara North this opportunity any further risks reinforcing a sense of marginalization that is neither healthy for democracy nor beneficial for long-term stability.
As the second-largest voting bloc in the state, Kwara North has played a decisive role in supporting and delivering electoral victories to Governorship candidates from Kwara Central and Kwara South respectively. Even in 2023 when an opposition party in Kwara State, the PDP, fielded a Kwara North son of repute and capacity in person of Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, Kwara North still voted massively for the incumbent Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON from Kwara Central.
There is no gainsaying the fact that there is no any senatorial district that can win election on its own without the votes of the other two zones.
It is in the light of the above reasons that this coalition calls on well-meaning sons and daughters of Kwara Central Senatorial District, irrespective of their political affiliation, to support power shift to Kwara North Senatorial District. This is the least we in Kwara Central can do to earn the respect, trust and goodwill of the remaining two senatorial districts in the state.
We also respectfully urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, CON, and the leadership of our dear party, the APC, to consider this passionate appeal in the spirit of justice and fairness and strategic victory come 2027.
Makama of Lafiagi: Proven Impact Without Public Office
It is within this context that the candidacy of Alhaji Tajudeen AbdulKadir Audu, FCA, the Makama of Lafiagi, becomes not only relevant but compelling.
Alhaji Tajudeen AbdulKadir Audu, widely known as the Makaman Lafiagi, stands out as a remarkable example of service, leadership, and measurable impact achieved without ever holding any formal political office.
Born into the respected family of Alhaji AbdulKadir Audu (Alhaji Oba), a former Chairman of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in Edu Local Government Area from 1978 to 1983, Makama inherited a legacy of leadership and community service and upheld this tradition with dignity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the people.
Makama’s strength lies not only in his strong educational and professional background, holding a degree from Ahmadu Bello University, an MBA from the University of Ilorin, and fellowships from ICAN, CITN, and other professional bodies but, more importantly, in his consistent and self-driven contributions to society without the luxury of government power or public funds.
As the Founder of the Makama Initiative for Nation Development and Support (MINDS), established in 2010, he has directly impacted thousands of lives across Kwara State, particularly in Kwara North.
In education, Makama has sponsored over 8,000 indigent students for JAMB examinations since 2022 alone. He has also supported numerous students throughout their academic journeys from secondary school to university, ensuring that financial hardship does not cut short their dreams. Many of such beneficiaries are currently studying in institutions such as Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; University of Ilorin; Ahman Pategi University, Patigi; Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai; and Edusoko University, Bida, including students in critical fields like medicine, demonstrating a strategic investment in human capital development.
In youth empowerment, he has trained young graduates in practical vocational and professional skills, provided certifications, and supported them with startup grants to build sustainable livelihoods.
In healthcare, his interventions have been life-saving. From funding critical surgeries and treatments to sponsoring medical outreach programs, including specialized eye care services, Makama has consistently stood in the gap for those who lack access to quality healthcare.
More importantly, these achievements are not mere claims. They are backed by verifiable records, documented beneficiaries, and physical evidence including hospital records, academic sponsorship lists, training certificates, and testimonies. These can be made available for public verification when required.
Beyond philanthropy, Makama has demonstrated grassroots leadership as the President of the Lafiagi Descendants Development Union (LADDU) from 2010 to 2014, promoting unity, development, and social cohesion.
A Leader Whose Impact Speaks Volumes
What makes Makama exceptional is that he has delivered results without ever holding any political office.
He has changed lives without public resources.
He has led without the instruments of state power.
His life is a testament to integrity, compassion, and capacity, the qualities that define true leadership.
Acknowledgement of National and State Leadership
We commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his bold and forward-looking Renewed Hope Agenda, which continues to inspire confidence in Nigeria’s future through reforms aimed at economic recovery, national unity, and sustainable development.
We also appreciate His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his leadership in Kwara State and his commitment to inclusivity and balanced development across all senatorial districts, including Kwara North. His support for fairness and equitable governance remains vital to the unity and progress of the state.
Conclusion
The call for power shift to Kwara North is not driven by sentiment, but by fairness, historical reality, and the need for inclusive governance.
The time for equity is now.
The time for Kwara North is 2027.
Thank you and God bless.
