Today, 19th August 2026, marks the official flag-off of campaigns for the 2027 General Election. I, Engr. Toyin Okoro, the APC flag bearer for Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1, stand before party leadership, stakeholders, members and the good people of Ekiti South with deep gratitude and a firm commitment to service. I commend the APC leadership at all levels for their dedication to building a stronger party. This campaign is bigger than an election it is about securing a mandate for progress. Ekiti South deserves a representative who will be present, accountable and vocal in the National Assembly long after the votes are counted, and that is the leadership I offer.

I present myself not for personal ambition, but as a son of Ekiti South ready to serve with integrity, courage and accessibility. Our people need strong representation that will attract development, create opportunities for youth, support women and entrepreneurs, and defend our community interests in Abuja. We must build a stronger APC and a stronger Ekiti South by standing united. I fully support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and all our APC candidates. At this point in our nation’s journey, Nigeria needs continuity, stability and purposeful leadership to deliver the Renewed Hope Agenda at every level.

To our party leaders and stakeholders, I pledge loyalty to the party and respect for its structures. I will work with ward executives, local government teams and grassroots networks to run a disciplined, organized and victorious campaign. To our youth and women, you are not just supporters, you are central to this movement. We will expand opportunities for young people and strengthen women’s participation in politics and business because an inclusive Ekiti South is a stronger Ekiti South. To our supporters, you are the engine of this campaign. Take our message to every ward, town and household, mobilize with facts and conviction, and encourage eligible voters to participate.

As we begin, I call for peace, unity and Omoluabi values. Politics should never turn us into enemies. I reject thuggery, intimidation, hate speech and violence in all forms. The choice before Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 is clear: representation that is present, purposeful and accountable. With God’s guidance, your support and the strength of the APC, I will work tirelessly to make our voice louder in Abuja and ensure Ekiti South gets the attention and opportunities it deserves. Let us unite behind the APC, mobilize every community, and vote massively. Together, we will move Ekiti South forward.

DEMOCRACY DAY MESSAGE TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF EKITI SOUTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY I, EKITI STATE AND NIGERIANS AT LARGE.

Dear Esteemed Constituents and Fellow Nigerians,

As we commemorate another anniversary of our nation's democracy, I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to the resilient, hardworking, and patriotic people of Ekiti South Federal Constituency I and all Nigerians across the globe.

This occasion reminds us of the sacrifices of our founding fathers, the strength of our democratic institutions, and the collective responsibility we share in building a prosperous and united nation. Despite the challenges confronting us as a people, we must remain steadfast in our faith, hopeful in our aspirations, and committed to the ideals of peace, justice, and development.

Democracy thrives when good leadership is sustained and progressive policies are allowed to mature. As citizens, we must recognize the importance of continuity in governance, especially when such leadership has demonstrated commitment to development, accountability, and the welfare of the people.

As we approach the Ekiti State Governorship Election scheduled for 20th June, 2026, I urge all lovers of progress and development to support the re-election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO). His administration has brought stability, infrastructural development, economic growth, and inclusive governance to our dear state. Continuity will ensure that the gains already achieved are consolidated and expanded for the benefit of present and future generations.

Let us therefore use this democracy day celebration to renew our commitment to democracy, peaceful coexistence, and the collective advancement of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.

Together, we can build a stronger Ekiti and a greater Nigeria.

Happy Democracy Day.

RE: MISCHIEVOUS CLAIMS ABOUT THE IDENTITY OF ENGR. TOYIN ZACCHAEUS OKORO

Our attention has been drawn to misleading reports and sponsored propaganda attempting to falsely portray Engr Toyin Okoro as “an Igbo man” in a desperate bid to undermine his overwhelming acceptance and victory at the just concluded APC primary election for Ise/Orun, Ikere, and Ekiti South West Federal Constituency I.

Ordinarily, Engr. Toyin Okoro would not dignify such baseless ethnic blackmail with a response, but for the purpose of setting the records straight and preventing the deliberate distortion of facts, it has become necessary to address the controversy being mischievously sponsored by political opponents who are uncomfortable with the massive support he enjoys among the people.

First and foremost, Engr. Toyin Okoro is a bona fide indigene of Ise-Ekiti in Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State. He was born in Ise Ekiti, then Ekiti South local Government in the old Ondo State and now Ise/Orun Local Government, Ekiti State, to the family of Late Lawrence Owoseni Okoro of Odo Ise Quarters, Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State and Chief Mrs Deborah Omolara Okoro from Oraye Quarters, Ise-Ekiti,Ekiti State. His late father, Lawrence Owoseni Okoro, served as the Secretary of Ebi Onisa-Odu, Odo Ise Quarters, Ise-Ekiti, while the present High Chief Onisa-Odu remains the third in command to the Arinjale-in-Council. His maternal roots are equally prominent within Ise-Ekiti, further confirming his deep ancestral and communal ties to the town. These well-known family backgrounds and longstanding traditional affiliations clearly establish Engr. Toyin Okoro’s identity as a true son of Ise-Ekiti, making the recent attempt to falsely portray him otherwise nothing but a mischievous and politically motivated narrative sponsored by opponents unsettled by his growing popularity and overwhelming acceptance among the people.

His paternal and maternal roots are firmly established in Ise-Ekiti, where his family has lived for generations. His ancestry, lineage, and community identity are well known to the people of Ise-Ekiti and beyond. The attempt to suddenly question his identity after his emergence as APC candidate only exposes the desperation of those behind the smear campaign.

Engr. Toyin Okoro attended St. Theresa Catholic Primary School, Erinwa Quarters Ise-Ekiti where he was the Assistant Senior prefect boy, and later Akinluse Comprehensive High School, Oraye Quarters, Ise-Ekiti before proceeding to Institute of Basic and Professional Studies, Ado-Ekiti. Toyin Okoro attended the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), where he distinguished himself in student leadership as President of the Federation of Ise Students Union (FISU) in 1995 and also the Pioneer President Federation of Ekiti State Student Union (FUTA Chapter) in 1996 immediately after the creation of Ekit State.

His political involvement and service to his people also span several years. In 2011, Engr. Toyin Okoro was the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the Ekiti State House of Assembly seat representing Ise-Orun Constituency. He also served as the former Secretary of the PDP in Ise-Orun Local Government, further demonstrating his longstanding participation and commitment to grassroots politics and community development in Ekiti State. Prior to this, He was a Pioneer member, Alliance for Democracy in 1998 as one of the core followers and loyalist of Senator Dayo Adeyeye till date.

Throughout his life, public service, and political engagement, his Yoruba identity has never been in doubt. He has remained deeply connected to his roots, culture, and the development of Ekiti State. His emergence in the political space has consistently enjoyed the support and endorsement of respected Ekiti leaders, including Senator Dayo Adeyeye, traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, and stakeholders across the constituency. It is also on record that Engr. Okoro once served as Coordinator/Youth leader of Alliance for Democracy in Ise-Orun which later earned him the position of the Coordinator of Ekiti Youth for Adebayo (EYOFA) Ise-Orun Chapter in 2003.

The current attempt to weaponize his surname for political gain is unfortunate, divisive, and alien to the values of the Yoruba people, who are known for fairness, inclusiveness, merit, and integrity. Those promoting this false narrative should understand that Ekiti people are enlightened and cannot be deceived by cheap ethnic propaganda. The overwhelming support Engr. Okoro received during the APC primary election was based on his accessibility, credibility, competence, and long-standing relationship with the people.

We therefore urge the public to disregard the false and misleading claims being circulated by desperate political interests seeking to rewrite history and distract from the clear mandate freely given to Engr. Toyin Zacchaeus Okoro by APC members and constituents.

No amount of propaganda can erase his roots, identity, contributions, or acceptance among the people of Ise-Ekiti and Ekiti State at large.

PRESS STATEMENT
From: Engr. Toyin Okoro
APC Candidate, House of Representatives, Ekiti South Federal Constituency I
On the Occasion of Eid-el-Kabir 2026
Date: 27 May, 2026.

My dear people of Ekiti South Federal Constituency I and all Muslim faithful across Ekiti State and Nigeria,

As-salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

On this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I join millions of Muslims worldwide to celebrate the Festival of Sacrifice. This sacred period calls us to reflect on the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), his obedience to Allah, and the spirit of sacrifice, love, and submission that defines this season.

Eid-el-Kabir is more than a celebration. It is a reminder that our strength as a people lies in our willingness to sacrifice for the greater good. As we commemorate this day, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) accepts our prayers, our sacrifices, and grants us peace in our homes, our communities, and our nation.

To the Muslim Ummah in Ekiti South Federal Constituency I, from Ikere, Ise/Orun, to Ekiti South-West I thank you for your resilience, your prayers for our land, and your commitment to peaceful coexistence. You embody the values of tolerance and brotherhood that make Ekiti great.

We mark this Eid at a time when Nigeria demands collective sacrifice from all of us. Inflation, insecurity, and unemployment test our faith daily. Yet, like Prophet Ibrahim, we must hold firm to hope and do the hard things required to rebuild our constituency and our nation.

I call on leaders at all levels to make the kind of sacrifice this season teaches to put people over politics, service over self, and unity over division. For my part, I reaffirm my pledge to you: to offer transparent, accountable, and people-centered representation when elected to the House of Representatives.

The spirit of Eid-el-Kabir aligns with my vision for our constituency a vision built on sacrifice for progress. This includes: Youth & Women Empowerment Sacrificing short-term gain to invest in skills, small businesses, and education for our young people and women. Infrastructure & Agriculture. Committing resources to water projects, and support for our farmers who feed us.

As you share your rams, food, and joy with neighbors, friends, and the less privileged, remember that the true essence of Eid is compassion. Let us extend hands of fellowship across religious and political lines. An injury to one is an injury to all.

May Allah (SWT) bless our land with bumper harvests, our children with wisdom, and our constituency with lasting peace. May He grant our pilgrims a successful Hajj and safe return. May He accept all our acts of worship.

Barka da Sallah. Eid Mubarak.

God bless Ekiti South Federal Constituency I.
God bless Ekiti State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Condolence Message on the Passing of the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I received the news of the transition of our revered royal father, HRM Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi (Afuntade 1) the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti South West Local Government Area

The passing of Kabiyesi is not only a monumental loss to the traditional institution but also a painful void for the entire Ilawe-Ekiti kingdom and Ekiti State at large. He was a symbol of unity, wisdom, and cultural heritage, whose reign brought peace, progress, and dignity to his people. His counsel, leadership, and fatherly guidance will be sorely missed.

On behalf of my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Alawe-in-Council, the chiefs, and all sons and daughters of Ilawe-Ekiti, both at home and in the diaspora.

May God Almighty grant Kabiyesi eternal rest and give the entire kingdom the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. May his legacy of service and devotion to Ilawe-Ekiti continue to inspire generations to come.

Signed:
Engr. Okoro Toyin
