PROFESSOR ADEOLU AKANDE: THE BOY WHO GREW INTO A MAN OF PURPOSE. Part 1.

.

Every great journey has a beginning, and behind every remarkable man is a story of growth, determination, sacrifice, and grace. Looking at this childhood photograph of Professor Adeolu Akande,Esq one cannot help but reflect on the beautiful journey from boyhood to becoming a man of purpose. In this picture, we see a young boy whose future was still unfolding, a little child whose dreams and aspirations were yet to find their full expression.

Little did the world know the heights he would attain, the knowledge he would acquire, and the responsibilities he would one day shoulder. Through the years, that young boy grew, embraced the power of education, and built a reputation as a professor, legal scholar, media guru and public figure. His journey reminds us that greatness is not achieved in a single day; it is built through years of learning, perseverance, discipline, and the courage to remain focused on a meaningful destination.

This photograph is more than a beautiful reminder of the past; it is a testament to the possibilities that lie within every child and a powerful message to young people who may be wondering what the future holds for them. Professor ’s story encourages us to look beyond where a person is today and recognise the potential of what that person can become tomorrow. Indeed, the little boy in this photograph has grown into a man whose journey speaks to the importance of purpose, personal development, and the enduring value of education.

From the innocence of boyhood in Otu,Itesiwaju Local Government to the responsibilities of adulthood, his journey tells a timeless story: a man of purpose does not emerge by accident; he is shaped by time, strengthened by experience, guided by values, and propelled by the determination to make his life count.

Here is what Alhaja Ameenat Adebayo-Sh*ttu said about Professor Adeolu Akande.

These were her words... .

"The morning of Tuesday,12th, October was a funny one."

"I usually do impromptu travels due to last minute activities."

"I had planned to arrive Abuja enroute lagos by Air. At 2am, I received a call that there's a seat on Overland Airways. Meanwhile, Overland is one Airline I dislike with passion."

"I can say it's no different from the Moule transiting from berger to eko idumota in lagos. It makes a lot of embarrassing noise."

"But the stress of commuting between Ibadan to Lagos is a heck itself. So I obliged."

"On getting to the Airport I sighted my big Uncle on the queue at the screening centre , we exchanged warm pleasantries and he took some steps backwards and asked that I join( you know this "ladies first thing"). He paved way for me to beat the stress of having to join the queue from behind. I then told him I'm still with the protocols so I wouldn't be able to join the queue yet."

"When I was done at the checks, I saw him again at the VIP lounge. And he told me that he saw me recently on TV speaking about Housing deficit in Nigeria. I then replied that people said they saw the programme on AIT and NTA."

"He said, that was brilliant. And I replied that I took after all of them - The brilliant and intellectuals around me."

"We got talking about politics. I stated my concern- something I heard from a friend while we were discussing Oyo politics. And he gave a clear analysis that cleared all my concerns".

"When it was time to board, I was supposed to pay a certain amount to the attendant at the lounge but I didn't have any cash on me. So I asked for her account details..."

"Prof had a small laptop bag. As a well trained yoruba lady, I made move to collect the bag from him, he refused, and then I whispered " I insist" . He released the bag. The lady I was to make a transfer for, ran to me and said "please don't worry ma, he has paid". I thanked him and we proceeded to the aircraft."

"Landing Abuja, as i disembarked the aircraft, I saw some elderly friends we exchanged pleasantries and got talking while we await Airport Shuttle to convey us."

"We were all standing before we were asked to trek down, so I took Prof's bag again."

"I proceeded to the luggage belt to receive my luggage, it took more than 20 minutes before luggages was released."

"Professor Adeolu Akande was standing patiently, after receiving my luggage, I asked about Prof's Luggage. He said he has none."

"Apparently, he waited for me. We stepped out of the Airport together. Outside, he said "my car is here, we are going together" I then giggled and said no problems sir. While in transit, he asked his driver if my house was closer than theirs, the driver said theirs is closer. He then told the driver he should drop me after dropping him at home."

"Arriving his home, I stepped out of the car to appreciate his kind gesture and entered the car back. Only for Professor Adeolu Akande to open the car door and dropped something in my bag. Before I could say anything, I couldn't find him, he ran so fast."

"It was a heavy thing, I smiled and whispered to myself, Adeolu Akande is a darling."

Thank you sir, for the all time honour. I'm grateful sir.

Professor Adeolu Akande,Esq understands this reality and has demonstrated a forward-looking commitment to preparing young people for the opportunities of the digital age. His approach reflects the philosophy of “Catch Them Young”—the belief that children should be introduced to technology early enough to develop the knowledge, confidence and creativity needed to compete in an increasingly digital world. Rather than waiting until young people reach higher institutions before exposing them to technology, Professor Adeolu Akande recognises the importance of planting the seeds of digital knowledge at the primary school level, nurturing those seeds through secondary education and strengthening them at the tertiary level. This is the kind of vision that looks beyond the present and prepares the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

Ultimately, Professor Adeolu Akande 's understanding of the “Catch Them Young” philosophy speaks to a fundamental truth: the children of today are the innovators, entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders of tomorrow. When we introduce them to technology early, we give them more than the ability to operate computers; we open their minds to possibilities they may never have imagined.

PROFESSOR ADEOLU AKANDE,ESQ AND THE JOURNEY OF LEGACY...

IT is a common knowledge when graduating students acknowledge their lecturers at their various departments most especially those who have made an impact in their lives in the cause of their studies.

At the same time, students come on social media to appreciate their tutors for the sacrifices they have made in their lives that helped them to be what they're. I mean those who are still serving in that academic Community.

Last night,at around 9:35pm,I stumbled on DIAMOND FM 101.1,a community radio station of the University Of Ibadan. Very unusual!. A caller identified himself as 'Tobi,a fresh graduate of the institution in the department of Political Science. An anchor of the program asked him to SHOUT OUT to two people who made his academic journey years to be stress-free.

To my utmost surprise,he mentioned Professor Esq and a Fellow, Corporate Institute of Strategic Research whose works in the department has make his defense and dissertation to be so easy. These were his words "I want to shout out Dr. Adeolu Akande (then) whose academic papers and works in the library of the department of Political Science has made my defence and dissertation to be so easy..." THAT'S LEGACY.

I personally believe that true leadership in any position is revealed through service, not just words. No doubt, Professor Adeolu Akande has embraced the power of leading by example and making a positive impact through every act of service. An action of today is a legacy of tomorrow.

One day, just like today,a compendium shall be launch to the credit of an exemplary leader, a role model per excellence and a benefactor of all time.

May God continue to strengthen and empower Professor Adeolu AKANDE to do more exploits. May him succeed in all ramifications.

Thank you,'Tobi.
Thank you, Ingenious Professor
