I want to warmly congratulate our Governor His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas and every son and daughter of Taraba State as we celebrate 35 years of our state’s journey.

Looking at where we are today, I truly commend His Excellency for his dedication and leadership. The visible achievements from opening up our communities with better transport connections to pushing our local economy forward are making a real difference in the lives of our people every day. Twenty Vessels Expected at Lagos Ports with Fuel, Food, and General Goods - NPA

​Twenty ships carrying petroleum products, food items, and general cargo are scheduled to berth at Lagos ports between August 26 and August 30, according to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

​The NPA disclosed the operational schedule in its Daily Shipping Position report released in Lagos on Wednesday.

​Out of the expected vessels:

1.​ 7 ships are carrying containerized cargo containing various goods.
2. ​13 ships are carrying bulk commodities, including crude oil, aviation fuel, bulk wheat, fresh fish, bulk pallets, and general cargo.

​In addition to the incoming traffic, the NPA reported that 11 vessels—comprising ships and tankers have already arrived at the Lagos port corridors and are currently waiting to berth. These vessels are laden with petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, bulk urea, bulk wheat, bulk fertilizer, and bulk pallets.

​Meanwhile, active operations are underway at the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Apapa Port, and Tin-Can Island Port, where 13 vessels are presently discharging petrol, bulk wheat, fresh fish, containerized goods, and general cargo.

NPA Facilitates Release Of NDPHC Power Equipment Worth Billions

…NDPHC Commends Intervention, Says It Will Accelerate Critical Power Projects, Save Billions In Losses

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has facilitated the recovery and clearance of critical power equipment belonging to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) that had been abandoned and left idle at various Nigerian seaports.

The intervention, according to the NDPHC, is expected to accelerate the implementation of critical power projects across the country while helping the company avert potential losses running into billions of naira.

The NDPHC Managing Director, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, disclosed this when she led members of the company’s management team on a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, and his management team in Lagos over the weekend.

Adighije commended the NPA for its timely intervention, describing the recovery and clearance of the equipment as critical to strengthening Nigeria’s power infrastructure and ensuring the effective delivery of ongoing and planned power projects.

She explained that the equipment was required for the ex*****on of critical projects by the NDPHC, stressing that prolonged delays in recovering and clearing the consignments could have negatively affected project timelines, increased costs and undermined efforts to improve electricity supply.

According to her, the NPA’s intervention had not only facilitated the recovery of the valuable equipment but had also saved the NDPHC billions of naira in potential losses.

The NDPHC boss therefore called for stronger and sustained collaboration between the NDPHC, NPA and other relevant government agencies in the energy and maritime sectors to prevent bureaucratic bottlenecks and other challenges that could affect service delivery and the timely ex*****on of critical infrastructure projects.

She noted that timely clearance of power-sector equipment was particularly important to ensuring that contractors and project teams had unhindered access to the materials required to execute projects within schedule.

Adighije said the courtesy visit was also aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the NDPHC and NPA and deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

She expressed appreciation to the NPA Managing Director and his management team for their support, cooperation and commitment to resolving issues affecting the movement of NDPHC equipment through the nation’s ports.

She assured the NPA management that the NDPHC remained committed to further strengthening the relationship between both organisations in the interest of Nigeria’s power sector and national development.

Responding, the NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, commended the NDPHC management for the visit and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives and partnerships that promote national development.

Dantsoho congratulated the NDPHC on its contributions to the development of Nigeria’s power sector, noting that efficient and reliable electricity supply remained critical to economic growth, industrialisation and improved living standards.

He assured the NDPHC management that the NPA remained open to meaningful engagements and would continue to collaborate with government agencies and other strategic stakeholders whose activities contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy.

The NPA boss further assured that the Authority would continue to support initiatives that facilitate the smooth movement and clearance of critical equipment, particularly those required for projects capable of strengthening infrastructure and advancing national development.

NPA, Nigerian Navy Deepen Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Port Security, Trade Efficiency

In a significant move to reinforce Nigeria's maritime security architecture and improve trade facilitation, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, today received the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral A.A. Mustapha, at the Authority's Headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

The strategic meeting focused on consolidating the long-standing partnership between the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigerian Navy to strengthen security across the nation's ports and territorial waters, while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of legitimate maritime trade.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration in addressing emerging maritime security challenges, safeguarding critical port infrastructure, and creating a safer, more efficient operating environment for shipping lines, investors, and other stakeholders.

The renewed partnership is expected to further bolster confidence in Nigeria's maritime sector, enhance the ease of doing business, and support ongoing efforts to position the nation's ports as globally competitive gateways for commerce.

NPA BOSS ADVOCATES STRONGER MARITIME JUSTICE TO BOOST GLOBAL TRADE

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, on Tuesday joined heads of sister maritime agencies, senior judicial officers, legal practitioners, and stakeholders from the organized private sector at the 18th International Maritime Seminar for Judges, held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The seminar, an annual gathering designed to deepen collaboration between Nigeria's judiciary and the maritime industry, was themed "Advancing Maritime Justice: Strengthening Global Trade." Discussions centered on the importance of an effective legal system in promoting investor confidence, facilitating maritime commerce, and driving sustainable economic development.

Addressing participants, Dr. Dantsoho highlighted the increasing sophistication of global maritime operations, stressing that the rapid evolution of international shipping, trade regulations, and technology demands a responsive and efficient judicial system capable of resolving maritime disputes promptly.

He noted that the credibility of Nigeria's maritime industry depends significantly on the confidence investors and operators have in the country's legal institutions. According to him, speedy and impartial adjudication of maritime matters remains essential for improving the ease of doing business, attracting investment, and enhancing the nation's standing in global shipping.

The NPA chief further maintained that a dependable maritime justice framework safeguards the interests of stakeholders across the value chain while promoting uninterrupted trade and reinforcing Nigeria's ambition to remain the leading maritime gateway in West and Central Africa.

The event brought together judges, maritime administrators, legal experts, regulators, and private sector operators to examine emerging issues in maritime law, exchange ideas on dispute resolution, and identify strategies for strengthening the legal architecture supporting Nigeria's blue economy.
