MINISTER OF STATE FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT, NEDC MD VISITS TARABA, COMMISSIONS KEY PROJECTS
The Minister of State for Regional Development, Barr Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission NEDC, this Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, at the Executive Chamber, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
The visit was aimed at informing the Governor about the Commission’s mission to the state, which includes the inspection and commissioning of infrastructural projects executed by the NEDC across Taraba State.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of Governor Agbu Kefas, the Chief of Staff, Government House Administration, Dr. Jeji Williams, emphasised the importance of synergy between federal and state institutions in addressing developmental gaps and improving the living conditions of the people.
He noted that sustained collaboration and support in critical sectors would accelerate the delivery of infrastructure and social services across the state.
Speaking earlier, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Barrister Uba Maigari Ahmadu, said the team was in Taraba to inspect and commission various projects implemented by the NEDC.
He disclosed that the Commission has provided street lighting, water projects, and other humanitarian interventions across 15 local government areas of the state.
He added that the delegation would also assess ongoing streetlight projects.
The Minister requested the state government to appoint a liaison officer to work closely with the team during the exercise.
He appreciated the Governor for the warm reception and commended him for his cooperation with the Commission, as well as his recent political movement to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
From Government House, Jalingo, the delegation proceeded to Zing Local Government Area, where the Minister commissioned a hospital ward, a three-bedroom flat, fenced staff quarters, solar-powered street lights, and three boreholes at the General Hospital, Zing.
The projects were subsequently handed over to the Taraba State Government for use.
The Taraba State Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon Saviour Noku, who spoke on behalf of the state government, expressed appreciation to the Commission for executing the projects, describing them as timely and impactful.
In Jalingo, the Minister also commissioned an Institute of Entrepreneurship constructed by the NEDC at Taraba State University.
The Entrepreneurship Centre is expected to enhance the training of students in various vocational and entrepreneurial skills, contributing to economic growth and self-reliance.
The state government commended the NEDC for what it described as a valuable contribution to educational and economic development in Taraba State.
