HON. PETER NYAM G*I, Esq. HANDS OVER TO HON. PETER KANANG GWOM AS NEW COMMISSIONER FOR LANDS, SURVEY AND TOWN PLANNING.

The Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, Esq, has officially handed over the affairs of the Ministry to the newly appointed Commissioner, Hon. Peter Kanang Gwom, as he bows out of the ministry to take up a new responsibility as Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.

The handover ceremony, held at the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning, brought together members of the ministry’s management, staff and key stakeholders within the built environment.

In his remarks, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i congratulated his successor and assured him of his continued support as he assumes the responsibility of steering the affairs of the ministry. He said his doors would always remain open to offer advice, guidance and support whenever the new Commissioner encounters challenges or requires clarification on issues relating to the ministry.

Hon. Nyam G*i urged Hon. Peter Kanang Gwom to remain focused on the task ahead and avoid distractions that could hinder the achievement of the ministry’s objectives. He particularly encouraged him to sustain the drive for increased internally generated revenue, effective land administration and improved service delivery for the benefit of the people and the Plateau State Government.

He expressed confidence that with commitment, focus and the cooperation of the staff and stakeholders, the ministry would continue to make progress and contribute significantly to the development of the state.

In his response, the newly appointed Commissioner, Hon. Peter Kanang Gwom, appreciated Hon. Peter Nyam G*i for his service and the significant achievements recorded during his tenure.

Hon. Gwom acknowledged the structures and initiatives put in place by his predecessor and pledged to build on the foundation already established. He promised to continue from where Hon. Nyam G*i stopped, with a determination to take the ministry to greater heights and achieve the desired goals.

He also expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for finding him worthy of the responsibility and promised to give his best in discharging the mandate entrusted to him.

The new Commissioner further called for the support and cooperation of the ministry’s management, staff and stakeholders, stressing that their collective efforts would be essential to achieving the vision and objectives of the ministry.

HON. PETER NYAM G*I,Eqs BIDS FAREWELL TO STAFF OF THE MINISTRY OF LANDS, SURVEY AND TOWN PLANNING.

The Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, Esq., on Monday, 31st August 2026, bid farewell to the staff of the Ministry ahead of his resumption at his new ministry on 1st September 2026.

The farewell interaction brought together both the permanent and ad-hoc staff of the Ministry, providing an opportunity for the Honourable Commissioner to appreciate the staff for their support and commitment throughout his tenure.

Addressing the staff, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i encouraged them to remain dedicated to their duties and to extend even greater support and cooperation to the incoming Commissioner and the new management of the Ministry.

He urged the staff to embrace the new leadership with the same, or even greater, commitment, noting that the progress and success of the Ministry depend largely on the collective efforts, professionalism and cooperation of its workforce.

The Honourable Commissioner expressed his appreciation for the support, friendship and cooperation he received from the staff during his time in the Ministry. He also encouraged them to continue working together towards achieving the mandate and objectives of the Ministry.

In an emotional response on behalf of the ad-hoc staff, one of the staff members expressed deep appreciation for the Honourable Commissioner's fatherly disposition, kindness and concern for their welfare.

The staff member particularly acknowledged the Commissioner’s gesture towards improving the welfare of the ad-hoc staff, including the increment of their stipends, describing the gesture as one that demonstrated his genuine concern for their wellbeing.

He expressed that the ad-hoc staff would greatly miss the Honourable Commissioner and prayed that the Almighty God would continue to guide, protect and prosper him in his new place of assignment.

The farewell ended on a note of gratitude, goodwill and prayers, as staff wished Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, Esq. success and fulfilment in his new assignment, while pledging their continued commitment to the service of Plateau State.

*PLATEAU STATE MINISTRY OF LAND SURVEY AND TOWN PLANNING HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS ROUNDTABLE ON SLTR AND GIS.*

The Plateau State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning has held a stakeholder consultative roundtable meeting with members of the built environment and other key stakeholders to sensitise participants on the importance of Systematic Land Titling and Registration (SLTR) and the Geographic Information System (GIS) in strengthening land governance and improving land administration in the State.

The meeting provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the need for a more efficient, transparent and accessible land administration system, while also sharing experiences and lessons from the Ministry’s recent peer-learning visit to Kano State on the implementation of Systematic Land Titling and Registration.

The engagement, organised in collaboration with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), was aimed at deepening stakeholders’ understanding of SLTR and GIS, promoting collaboration among professionals in the built environment, and exploring practical approaches that can be adapted to improve land administration in Plateau State.

Speaking during the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, Esq., highlighted the importance of adopting systematic land titling and registration as a critical step towards securing land rights, improving land documentation and enhancing confidence in the land administration process.

The Commissioner also emphasised the need for a functional and modern Geographic Information System, noting that GIS would play a significant role in improving spatial data management, planning, property identification, land documentation and decision-making within the State.

Hon. Nyam G*i stressed that the successful implementation of SLTR and GIS requires the collective support and participation of relevant stakeholders, particularly professionals within the built environment. He called for sustained collaboration, knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement to ensure that the reforms deliver meaningful benefits to residents, investors and the government.

The meeting further provided a platform for stakeholders to share observations, experiences and recommendations on how Plateau State can strengthen its land administration system and build on the lessons learned from the Kano peer-learning experience.

The Ministry's commitment is to embraced modern technology, improving service delivery and strengthening land governance in line with the administration’s vision for a more efficient, transparent and sustainable land administration system in Plateau State.

‎GOVERNOR MUTFWANG URGES PUBLIC SERVANTS TO PRIORITIZE QUALITY SERVICE AND INTEGRITY

‎Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang ESQ, has charged public servants to demonstrate gratitude to God through integrity, fairness and responsible service to the people.
‎
‎The Governor gave the charge on Sunday, August 23, 2026, when he served as guest preacher at the Annual Thanksgiving and Appreciation Service of Mrs. Margaret Peter G*i, wife of the former Commissioner of Lands and Survey, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, at COCIN Church, Kabong, Jos North Local Government Area.
‎
‎Speaking from Psalm 136, the Governor described thanksgiving as an expression of faith and a practical demonstration of confidence in God's enduring mercy and faithfulness.
‎
‎According to him, “One thing we must do in appreciation to God is that when we appreciate God, it reflects in the way we live. It reflects in the way we conduct ourselves.”
‎
‎Governor Mutfwang said the testimony of Mrs. G*i's recovery from illness was a reminder of God's power to transform difficult circumstances, urging the congregation to recognise and appreciate the blessings they often take for granted.
‎
‎He noted that people could have different testimonies, ranging from healing and deliverance to provision and the restoration of families, stressing that “there's nothing God cannot do.” saying thanksgiving should not only be expressed through words but demonstrated through daily conduct.
‎
‎“Today you may look small. Today you may look little. But as you walk with God, as you continue to appreciate what God has done and is doing, you are going to see an increase in your life,” he said.
‎
‎He added that God could take people “from glory to glory,” pointing to the biblical promise that “the glory of the latter shall be greater than the glory of the former.”
‎
‎Governor Mutfwang also used the occasion to challenge public servants, particularly those entrusted with responsibilities in the Ministry of Lands and Survey, to ensure that the administration's reforms translate into fairness, efficiency and justice for citizens.
‎
‎He said the administration was focused on building sustainable institutions rather than personalities, emphasising that public institutions must continue to deliver even when those currently occupying leadership positions leave office.
‎
‎“We are building systems. We are building institutions. We are not building theatres,” the Governor declared.
‎
‎Earlier, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, expressed gratitude to God for the recovery of his wife and appreciated Governor Mutfwang for the support and confidence given to his ministry.
‎
‎Nyam G*i highlighted reforms undertaken by the ministry, including the reduction of processes required for obtaining Certificates of Occupancy from six stages to three, which he said had significantly improved service delivery.
‎
‎He disclosed that the ministry had processed about 7,000 Certificates of Occupancy within three years under the Mutfwang administration, compared with about 3,000 processed in the past.
‎‎
‎He attributed the progress to the support and policy direction of the Governor, assuring that the ministry would continue to strengthen land administration, title registration and revenue generation.
‎
‎Nyam G*i also spoke about the ministry's mediation mechanism for resolving land disputes, saying the initiative had helped several citizens obtain justice without prolonged litigation.
‎
‎He thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate his wife's recovery, noting that the thanksgiving service would have been a profoundly different occasion had the family not witnessed the intervention of God.
‎
‎The service brought together government officials, members of the church, family members, friends and well-wishers, who joined the G*i family in celebrating God's faithfulness and giving thanks for Mrs. Margaret Peter G*i's recovery.

FORMER PERMANENT SECRETARIES HONOURED BY PLATEAU STATE MINISTRY OF LANDS, SURVEY AND TOWN PLANNING.

The Plateau State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning held an interactive session with former Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry as part of activities marking the three-year anniversary of the Commissioner, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, Esq.

The initiative was organised by the Honourable Commissioner in collaboration with the management of the Ministry to provide an opportunity to interact with the former Permanent Secretaries and, most importantly, appreciate them for their selfless service and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the Ministry.

The former Permanent Secretaries expressed deep excitement and sincere joy over the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of respect and recognition for those who had served the Ministry before. Their appreciation was further expressed through prayers of thanksgiving to God for the life and leadership of the present Commissioner, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i, Esq.

Speaking during the occasion, Hon. Peter Nyam G*i emphasised the importance of recognising those who have contributed to the development of the Ministry, regardless of when they served.

“Let those who have contributed to the growth of the Ministry be appreciated, no matter when they served. We must recognise and honour the contributions of those who laid the foundation upon which we are building today.”

The Commissioner noted that the progress being recorded in the Ministry is a product of collective efforts and that the sacrifices, dedication and achievements of past leaders and staff should never be forgotten.

The interactive session therefore served not only as an avenue for appreciation but also as a bridge between the past and present leadership of the Ministry, reinforcing the importance of continuity, institutional memory and collective service to Plateau State.
