PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP), PLATEAU STATE CHAPTERNO 2O/22, YAKUBU GOWON WAY JOS.September 7, 2017.PRESS STATEMENT

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received with consternation very credible information on illegal strategies being implemented right now at the offices of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), under the direction of its Chairman, Miskoom Fabian Ntung in conjunction with the Plateau State Government and the APC to conduct the much-awaited Local Government election in near secrecy. In this never-heard-of back door arrangement, the PLASIEC Chairman is secretly preparing for an election to take place across the local government areas as some sensitive materials have already been transported to some identified local government areas. As a party that believes in the rule of Law, and that also represents the interest of majority voters on the Plateau, PDP is sending very strong words of caution to PLASIEC, the state government and the APC that any act of illegality and injustice will face appropriate resistance from the people of Plateau. The people will no longer allow themselves to be oppressed by ungodly minds which are filled with ungodly values and by an architect of injustice in leadership position. PDP wants to make it clear that anything short of the Rule of Law and due process from the APC led PLASIEC in the conduct of local governement election will not only be vehemently rejected but will be fought to a standstill. PDP therefore advises the leadership of PLASIEC and the state government to maintain the current peaceful and persevering nature of the people by doing the right thing in accordance with the Law and the Electoral Act.We propose instead the following transparent steps to PLASIEC:

1: Invite all political parties in the state for interaction on its plans; the relevant stakeholders have not been informed of any plans to conduct the local government election which by law must allow a ninety (90) time-line for parties to conduct their primaries as stipulated in the Electoral Act.

2. Security agencies must also meet with political parties concerned before any commencement of election. This is to avoid the breakdown of law and order by a people who are increasingly feeling cheated and shortchanged by a tyrannical administration;Governor Lalong should for once try to salvage what remains of his tattered legal image and pretentious democratic disposition by upholding the rule of law - even if it this once. Plateau has never had it this bad politically. The Governor has no need for an arrangee local government election if he feels his administration is riding high in the estimation of Plateau people.
In conclusion, PDP calls on the people of Plateau to remain alert to the antics of this desperate and incompetent government and expose them at every point as the stealers of our democratic hope.

As for Miskoom Fabian Ntung, we may be seeing the fulfillment of this proverb that says, "A man in authority who oppresses the people is like a driving rain that destroys the crops".

Any leader or institution that has no regard for the rule of law is obviously on a wicked mission of destruction and the people will certainly have no option than to revolt against him.PDP Members must remain at a heightened state of surveillance to frustrate the plans of the wicked through PLASIEC.

State Publicity Secretary PDP.

THE DOSSIER OF A QUINTESSENTIAL POLITCIAN ( RELOADED)

A Plethora Of attributes distinguish senator victor Rampyal Lar, PDP senator, Plateau South Senatorial District from the crowd, making him irresistible endearing to you on first encounter.
In more ways than one, your first encounter with him would indelible impart you with a memorable and humbling experience, an experience that is akin to a study in humility and ingenuity.
Lars life style is like a study in exemplary character, his political sagacity a study in exemplary leadership.
His distinct and dignified mien, clear focus and confident carriage, high intelligence quotient with an uncanny ability to grasp issues that are presented to him at the speed of light, are second to none, thereby, making him a primus inter pares.
His cool, calm and collected character coupled with a disarming smile and down –to-earth personality, immediately arrests you and resonates long after you have left him.
The totality of his personality, indeed underscores a man unimpressed by combined grandeur, prestige, prospect and paraphernalia of office position as a distinguish senator of the federal republic of Nigeria and, perhaps, the next executive governor of plateau state.

Many say he is not an overtly ambitious person, they are correct, others say he is a fine gentle man, now turned pastor, they too are correct.
Hear him:
‘’I believe that a call to service is a trust and a covenant with the people, which cannot be divorced from service to God,’’ he said.

A great number a plateau political demagogues and observers alike believe that given his excellent political tract record he was the right successor to the then Governor Jang in 2015, his longtime political ally.

Lar said that he came into the gubernatorial race with agendas which borders around the state’s tourism, mining, education, youth empowerment, agriculture, health just to mention a few, which can move the state forward if carefully planned and executed .
He said that his ambition to govern the state is guided by these agenda, as well as his impatience with injustice and his being a stickler for equity.
‘’ I am impatient with injustice and a stickler for equity and justice’’, were his words when asked about his general philosophy in life.

Senator Lar rose from the position of secretary, Langtang North Local Government Council, where he learned the rudiments and later bestrode the grassroots political landscape like a monstrous colossus.

He thereafter proceeded to the House of Representatives, where he distinguishes himself as a vocal, focused and go- getter legislator for eight years.
He went on to contest for the governorship of the state in 2007 and narrowly missed it, though some say he won the election but was rigged out.
Notably, that was notwithstanding the minority status of the ANPP in the state on which platform he contested the election.

In 2011, he jettisoned or, perhaps, suspended his gubernatorial ambition and, instead, vied for the senate.
Observers say the decision was simple and strategic, perhaps, realization of the understanding that base on the rotational principle of the state governorship of the PDP, the governorship ticket will go to plateau north senatorial zone.

The election was later won by now Distinguished Sen Jonah Jang, his erstwhile ally in the then ANPP for whom he indirectly or inadvertently stepped down
By this no mean feat, senator Lar has succeeded in sending political goose pimples and shock waves down the spine of many a plateau political observer about his arrival on the state political scene.

In 2015, he made a second attempt to run for governorship but came third behind the then deputy governor Amb. Ignatius Longjang (southern zone) and his colleague in the senate, Late Sen GNS Pwajok (northern zone) who clinched the Party governorship ticket for the PDP.

Once again, the governorship race for 2019 is around the corner and Senator Lar has been under intense pressure from the masses to run for office, should he agree to respond to the call, many say he is just the right man to beat the incumbent Governor Simon Lalong and return his party, the PDP back to power in the state after being displaced by the now ruling APC in 2015.

Is destiny already beckoning on Rampyal, the “one who strives for progress” as his middle name literally translates to come salvage plateau state and lead her once again to the path of greatness?

The people of plateau state are watching, praying and waiting for a God anointed Governor who will come and deliver them from the chains of hardship being imposed on them by the APC led government in the state.
