PRESS STATEMENT BY THE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION OF AVM PAUL MASIYER (RTD) ON THE PURPORTED APC PRIMARY ELECTION FOR MANGU/BOKKOS FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
The Campaign Organization of AVM Paul Masiyer (Rtd) wishes to address the general public, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), supporters, and the good people of Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency regarding the purported primary election conducted for the nomination of the Party’s candidate for the House of Representatives.
After careful review of the events surrounding the exercise, we wish to categorically reject the purported declaration of Hon. Ishaya Lalu as the winner of the APC primary election for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency.
Our position is based on the undeniable fact that direct primaries were not conducted the wards across the constituency as required by the Electoral Act 2026, the Constitution of the APC, and the APC Guidelines for the Nomination of Candidates.
Across all the wards in both Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas, party members, supporters, and agents of our principal, AVM Paul Masiyer (Rtd), assembled peacefully and waited for electoral officials and voting materials that never arrived. These loyal party members remained at the designated centres until late into the night before eventually dispersing in disappointment after no election was conducted.
It is therefore shocking, unacceptable, and contrary to every principle of democracy and internal party justice for results to emerge from wards where no voting exercise took place.
The purported outcome does not reflect the wishes, aspirations, and democratic choices of APC members in Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency. What occurred was a complete subversion of the democratic process and a grave assault on the integrity of our great Party.
We wish to assure all our supporters that appropriate steps have already been taken through the Party’s internal appeal mechanisms to challenge this injustice and defend the sanctity of the votes and rights of party members.
While we remain committed to peace, order, and party unity, we must also firmly state that democracy cannot thrive where imposition, exclusion, and manipulation are allowed to replace transparent and credible processes.
The Campaign Organization is particularly saddened by the unfortunate loss of one of our compatriots, Abba Sani Zaki of Kasuwan Ali Ward in Gindiri Chiefdom, Mangu Local Government Area, who reportedly lost his life in the course of protests arising from the widespread anger and frustration over the purported imposition of Hon. Ishaya Lalu.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of the deceased. We pray that Almighty God grants the family the strength to bear this painful and irreparable loss.
We further call on security agencies to exercise utmost restraint, professionalism, and respect for the sanctity of human life in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. The life of every citizen matters, and no democratic process should result in the loss of innocent lives.
To our supporters and party faithful across the constituency, we urge you to remain calm, law-abiding, peaceful, and steadfast. Do not allow provocation or frustration to lead to violence or breakdown of law and order. Our struggle remains one for justice, democracy, and the protection of the collective will of APC members.
We remain confident that truth, justice, and fairness shall prevail.
Thank you and God bless.
