Kagarko is a land that is blessed with immense beauty!! From the amazing hilly terrains along the Kukui axis, driving through the winding roads that leads to Kubacha and Kagarko town, nature can never be over appreciated. The flat and fertile lands at Dogon Kurmi that stretches through to Pankore, Kushe etc are some of our greatest resources. These same features are all noticeable at Kutaho, Aribi, Kurmin Jibril, Iddah and the ever busy Jere.
To say that we are not blessed as a people is the highest height of ungratefulness. Our lands are fertile and we can boast to be among the world's largest producers of the best grade of ginger.
It doesn't just end with the fertile lands and other natural resources, our people are a loving and a hardworking group of humans. We all grew up knowing how to fend for ourselves and from our sweats have we always fed. From my days as a child we have learnt to till the grounds even while our sweats mixes with the soil, our hands grew blisters but never did we stopped until we planted our seeds and ensured that they fully grew; that is the typical Kagarko person!!
The results of our hard labor is evident in our rich harvest. Come every Monday, the trucks filled with ginger at the Kubacha market is a testimony of our rich harvest. Or is it the truckload of ginger on Thursdays at the Kenyi market? So also it is at Jere, Kutaho, Kurmin Jibril, Iddah etc
We are the heart of ginger production and ginger farming is a billion dollar industry but does the standard of living of our people reflect the wealth made in ginger production? Have our people gained enough for their never ending hard work and service to humanity?
I guess our answers will all be a big NO!!
Our people have done enough and some have even tried their best to control the market so as to give us a maximum profit but the truth is that there is a limit to what we can do because only government policies can fully influence the market values and policies in ginger production.
