The Kano State House Assembly has passed the Kano State Electricity Bill 2026. The Bill will recognized, reform the framework and model the entire Kano State electricity value-chain.

The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy wishes to extend our appreciation to KSHA under leadership of RT. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore for the great job. And to other stakeholders who participate to enriched the document.

*Installation of a New Transformer at Mandawari*

Today, Sunday, 19th July 2026, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Kano State, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, PhD, alongside the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Board (REB), Engr. Sani Bala Dambatta, supervised the installation of a new distribution transformer at Mandawari.

The project is part of the Kano State Government's ongoing commitment under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to strengthen electricity infrastructure, improve power supply, and enhance the living standards of residents across the state.

COMMISSIONER FOR POWER DECLARES OPEN 2-DAY STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ON PROPOSED RENEWABLE HYBRID POWER PROJECT FOR KANO

The Kano State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu today declared open a 2-Day Stakeholder Engagement on the proposed Renewable Hybrid Power Project for Kano State.

The engagement is organized by the Kano State Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy in collaboration with Royal Niger Emerging Technologies Limited and CET Power Limited, with support from KAN-INVEST held at BON Hotel, Nassarawa GRA, Kano
The theme is to "Unlocking Reliable Power for Kano’s Industrial Growth

The meeting brings together manufacturers, industrialists, investors, traditional rulers, development partners, and community representatives to deliberate on project scope, implementation strategy, and partnership models.

In his Welcome address, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu described the project as a strategic addition to the state’s energy infrastructure, designed to complement existing initiatives such as the Tiga and Challawa Hydro Power Plants.

Reliable power is the engine of industrialization. Under the ‘Kano First Agenda’ of His Excellency, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, we are committed to expanding access to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy, the Commissioner stated.

This Renewable Hybrid Power Project will reduce production costs for our industries and SMEs, create jobs, and position Kano as the preferred investment destination in Northern Nigeria.

The present administration will continue to support all policies and programs aimed at improving infrastructure and the well-being of our people.

Dr.Gaddafi Sani daid the 2-day engagement will focus on key technical areas including Energy Demand Assessment, Reliability Gaps, Off-taker Model, Power Challenges, Demand Profile, and Stakeholder Willingness to Off-take

In their separate remarks Mr. Shagon representing Royal Niger Emerging Technologies Limited, and Chairman Obiora Nwizu of CET Power Limited, noted that the proposed hybrid solution aligns with global best practices in renewable energy.

They affirmed their commitment to work with the state government to ensure robust technology transfer, local capacity building, and long-term sustainability.

Also speaking, the Director General of KAN-INVESTDr. Naziru Halliru and the Managing Director of Kano Hydr and Energy Development Company Engr. Ibrahim Ado Duguwa, stated that Kano is ready to support any development aimed at advancing energy supply, and noted that unlike some other states where industries are concentrated in one area, Kano has companies spread across different areas such as Dakata, Sharada,Bampai, Tokarawa, and others.

They assured stakeholders of continued support in facilitating investments and easing the process of doing business around the project.

The engagement is expected to produce a clear roadmap for project delivery, define stakeholder roles, and establish regulatory frameworks to fast-track implementation.

The Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Kano State, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, has extended warm congratulations to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on the successful completion of three impactful years in office.

In a statement issued to mark the Governor’s third anniversary, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi described the administration as one of the most productive and people-oriented governments in the history of Kano State.

He applauded Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his “unmatched dedication, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the progress and welfare of the people of Kano State.”

According to the Commissioner, the remarkable transformation witnessed across the state in the last three years stands as clear evidence of purposeful governance and responsible leadership focused on delivering the dividends of democracy.

He stated that the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration has executed numerous developmental projects cutting across critical sectors including Education, Healthcare, Road Construction, Water Supply, Agriculture, power supply,Youth Empowerment, Women Development, Transportation, and Social Welfare.

Engr. Dr. Gaddafi further noted that the Governor’s projects and policies have positively impacted all 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State, ensuring that no community is left behind in the drive for sustainable development.

“Without exaggeration, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has redefined governance in Kano State. His administration has touched every sector that is essential to the growth and development of society,” he said.

The Commissioner disclosed that the scale of projects and reforms implemented within just three years clearly demonstrates the Governor’s passion, sincerity, and love for the people.

Eid-el-Kabir: Gaddafi Urges Muslims to Embrace Sacrifice and Peaceful Coexistence

The Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, has felicitated with Muslims across Kano State and Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.

In his Sallah message, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi urged residents to sustain the virtues of spirituality, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence.

He also extended warm greetings to His Excellency Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Governor Honourable Murtala Sule Garo, the Muslim Ummah, and called on the people of Kano to continue promoting unity, tolerance, and harmony during and after the festive period.

“I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters in Kano and Nigeria a happy and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, he said.

The Commissioner prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
