It’s been one year since Bashir Abdu Muzakkari, PhD was appointed as the pioneer Director-General/CEO of the Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA).

In just one year, his leadership has helped lay a strong foundation for Kano’s digital future. From driving strategic public-private partnerships and expanding digital infrastructure to strengthening innovation, supporting startups, improving digital public services, and creating opportunities for young people, the impact is evident.

Staff of the Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA) paid a familiarization visit to Mamuda Group Nigeria Limited⁠ as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between government and industry. The visit provided an opportunity to explore potential areas of partnership in digital transformation, innovation, and workforce development. The delegation also gained insights into the company’s operations and discussed how technology can further drive industrial growth in Kano State. The visit reflects KASITDA’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that advance the state’s digital economy agenda.

The Director-General/CEO of KASITDA Bashir Abdu Muzakkari, PhD. participated as a panelist at the Digital Transformation Summit (DTS) 2026 organized by Galaxy Backbone as part of activities marking its 20th Anniversary celebration in Abuja.

Speaking during the panel session titled “Digital Transformation in Sub-national Governments: Progress, Challenges & Global Best Practices,” he highlighted Kano State’s progress in digital governance, policy development, digital public infrastructure, innovation ecosystem growth, and technology-driven service delivery. He also shared insights on the opportunities and challenges facing sub-national governments in accelerating digital transformation across Nigeria.

The Summit, themed “Powering Nigeria’s Digital Future,” convened senior government officials, policymakers, technology leaders, development partners, and industry stakeholders to explore practical pathways for advancing digital governance, strengthening public service delivery, and building an inclusive digital economy.
