As Kano Assembly Resumes Today, More Quality Bills and Motions Presented at Plenary Session
The Kano State House of Assembly, at a plenary session presided over by the Rt. Honourable Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, received and deliberated on several motions aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and community development across the state.
Among the motions presented:
- Hon. Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, Member representing Makoda Constituency, called on the state government to construct a road linking Wailare–Gagarawa–Yallada and Kwarkiya in Makoda Local Government.
- Hon. Sulaiman Muktar Ishaq of Madobi urged the government to establish CBT/ICT centres across the 44 Local Government Areas in line with the new national policy on WAEC and NECO, to ensure children become computer literate.
- Hon. Yunusa Haruna Kayyu of Gwarzo called for the completion of electrification projects in Garun Madadi and Yanguruza communities in Gwarzo LGA.
- Hon. Engr. Murtala Kadage of Garko requested the rehabilitation of Buda Dam in Kwas Ward, Garko LGA.
Additionally, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Butu Butu of Rimin Gado/Tofa presented a report on judiciary matters, specifically the Kano State Sharia Court Bill, 2026, and the Kano State Sharia Court of Appeal Bill, 2026.
The Speaker also read a letter from the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kano State Chapter. The letter, pursuant to the standing rules of the House, announced new nominations for minority leadership positions following recent changes in Assembly leadership:
- Minority Leader: Hon. Usman Abubakar Tasiu, representing Kiru Constituency
- Minority Whip: Hon. Yusuf Bello Aliyu, representing Nasarawa Constituency
The nominations were based on the lawmakers’ experience and commitment to the party.
