GOBA Celebrates Patron, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, on Prestigious Global Fellowship
The Gwale Old Boys Association (GOBA) has congratulated its Patron, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, on his selection as a Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology.
In a statement issued on Monday, 13th April 2026, the President of GOBA, Mohammed Mukhtar Idris, speaking on behalf of the executives and all class chapters of the Association, described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Abubakar’s exceptional contributions to food science, research, and innovation at both national and international levels.
The Association noted that Prof. Abubakar, a former Deputy Governor of Kano State and current Chairman of the Northwest University Governing Council, has consistently demonstrated dedication, hard work, and a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge, particularly in the field of food science and technology.
GOBA further expressed pride in his achievement, stating that his recognition would serve as a source of inspiration to young academics and researchers across Kano State to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
Prof. Abubakar was among 27 distinguished scientists from 15 countries selected by the International Union of Food Science and Technology for the 15th class of the Academy. He is expected to be formally inducted in October 2026 during the World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Hong Kong.
