Governor Radda Hails Tinubu’s Support for Katsina’s Development, As NEC Monitoring Team Storms Katsina

Team Impressed by Katsina’s Agricultural Mechanisation, Other Development Projects

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has hailed the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda for the development recorded across the State.

Governor Radda made this known on Thursday when the National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee stormed Katsina to assess the implementation of key projects and resolutions across the State.

The delegation was led to the Governor by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Malik Anas, while the NEC team was led by Mr. Daniel Ikara of the NEC Secretariat.

Mr. Ikara briefed the Governor on the objectives of the monitoring exercise, explaining that the team was in the State to assess the implementation of NEC resolutions and flagship projects, as well as their impact on the people.

Welcoming the delegation, Governor Radda expressed delight over the visit, saying, "Four days in Katsina will not be enough to see all the works we have done."

He said his administration had recorded significant progress across various sectors, adding that the field visits would enable the team to inspect some of the projects and assess their impact on the people.

Governor Radda attributed the achievements to the support of President Tinubu and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

"What we have achieved in Katsina would not have been possible without the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda," he said.

The Governor highlighted the completion of more than nine major road projects in Katsina metropolis, alongside urban renewal programmes in Daura and Funtua.

He also disclosed that more than 250 of the State’s 361 primary healthcare facilities had been renovated, while several General Hospitals had been established or upgraded to strengthen healthcare delivery.

"We have also employed more than 11,000 workers, including teachers and healthcare personnel, as part of our efforts to strengthen human capital and improve service delivery," he added.

On agriculture, Governor Radda said the State had established an Agricultural Mechanisation Centre equipped with more than 400 tractors to promote mechanised farming and support farmers across the State.

He added that the administration had implemented fertiliser interventions and the Community Development Programme (CDP) to expand economic opportunities and accelerate development at the grassroots.

On renewable energy, Governor Radda said his administration had revitalised the Lambar Rimi Wind Farm and added a 10MW solar plant to the existing 10MW wind facility.

He added that over 30MW of renewable energy had been deployed across public hospitals, schools and water facilities, with 1MW solar plants and mini-grids installed at the Government House, State Secretariat Complex and General Muhammadu Buhari House.

According to him, the interventions were designed to reduce dependence on diesel-powered generators, cut operational costs and ensure more reliable electricity supply to critical public facilities.

Governor Radda further disclosed that solar lighting systems had been provided at various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), General Hospitals and other public facilities across the State.

He added that Katsina General Hospital had been equipped with a dedicated 300KW solar power system as part of the broader mini-grid deployment to provide uninterrupted electricity for healthcare services and critical hospital operations.

The Governor further listed pipeline water projects, the Katsina Dialysis Centre and major investments in education among the key interventions of his administration.

Governor Radda also highlighted KASEDA, KATDICT and public service reforms aimed at supporting businesses, driving digital transformation and improving service delivery.

"These are only some of the projects we have implemented. There are many more interventions across the State which the Committee will have the opportunity to see during its field visits," he noted.

On security, Governor Radda said the administration had strengthened the Katsina Community Watch Corps through the provision of operational equipment, including nine armoured personnel carriers and several Hilux patrol vehicles.

He welcomed the monitoring exercise, saying it would strengthen cooperation between the Federal and State Governments while helping to identify areas requiring further attention.

Earlier, Mr. Ikara commended the Katsina State Government for the projects and interventions inspected by the team.

"We have seen some of the projects on the ground, and we are impressed with what we have seen, particularly the agricultural mechanisation initiatives and other development interventions," Mr. Ikara said.

He explained that the exercise was designed to assess the implementation of NEC resolutions and flagship projects while strengthening engagement between the Federal and State Governments.

The NEC-IMC team is in Katsina as part of the Council’s fifth-phase monitoring exercise covering States and the Federal Capital Territory.

The meeting was attended by the Coordinator of the Community Development Programme (CDP), Kamaladdin Kabir, and other top government officials.

2027: Governor Radda Deepens Business Support as 80 Trade, Transport Groups Declare Support

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding opportunities for traders, transport operators and small businesses across the state, urging organised groups to take advantage of government-backed economic support programmes.

Governor Radda gave the assurance while receiving the Coalition of Trade Groups and Transport Unions, led by Hon. Tanimu Sada, on a solidarity visit to Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina.

The coalition, comprising about 80 trade and transport associations with an estimated 30,000 members, declared support for the Governor’s leadership and his 2027 re-election bid.

Receiving the delegation, Governor Radda thanked the groups for their cooperation with his administration and said the government would remain faithful to the mandate entrusted to it by the people.

“We will continue to tell the truth and serve the people of Katsina without betrayal. We will continue to work in the interest of our people and fulfil the trust they have placed in us,” the Governor said.

Governor Radda stated that his administration had delivered between 80 and 90 per cent of its campaign promises, despite the security challenges confronting the state.

He explained that insecurity had not stopped the government from pushing ahead with projects and programmes in education, agriculture, human capital development, water supply and other critical sectors.

The Governor particularly highlighted the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) as one of the administration’s major vehicles for supporting businesses, creating jobs and strengthening the economic capacity of residents.

According to him, the administration has injected more than ₦5 billion into KASEDA to widen access to financial support and other opportunities for small and medium-scale businesses.

“We established KASEDA because of the nature of organisations like yours and the businesses you represent. We have injected over ₦5 billion into the agency to support businesses and create opportunities for our people,” Governor Radda said.

He therefore challenged leaders of the coalition to work directly with KASEDA, understand the requirements for accessing its programmes and ensure that eligible members benefit.

The Governor disclosed that funds were still available through the agency for additional beneficiaries, stressing that government interventions would have greater impact when organised groups actively connect their members with available opportunities.

Governor Radda also spoke on the Community Development Programme (CDP), describing it as part of the administration’s approach to taking development closer to communities by allowing people to identify and implement projects that respond to their immediate needs.

On the 2027 elections, the Governor welcomed the coalition’s declaration of support but challenged its members to translate their commitment into genuine grassroots mobilisation.

“We appreciate everything you have done and, particularly, this solidarity visit. You have come to express your support, and we expect that support to translate into mobilisation at the polling-unit level. Ultimately, it is the results that we are looking forward to,” he said.

The coalition presented Governor Radda with an Entrepreneurship and MSME Development Award in recognition of his administration’s interventions in entrepreneurship, business development and economic empowerment.

Earlier, leader of the delegation, Hon. Tanimu Sada, said the coalition had consulted widely and assessed projects and programmes being implemented by the administration before the visit.

He noted that a large number of its members operate small businesses and could contribute more significantly to Katsina’s economy through stronger engagement with government programmes.

Chairman of the Coalition of Trade Groups and Transport Unions, Alhaji Musa Garba Yandoma, also reaffirmed the coalition’s support for Governor Radda, saying its membership cuts across motorcycle and tricycle operators, livestock traders and several other business associations.

Yandoma commended the administration’s interventions in security, agriculture, education and support for small and medium-scale enterprises, assuring that the coalition would take information about available government programmes directly to its members.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, members of the Katsina State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
