Kogi L-PRES Holds First Quarter 2026 State Steering Committee Meeting

The Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project has convened its first quarterly State Steering Committee (SSC) meeting for 2026, bringing together key stakeholders to review progress and outline strategic priorities for the year.

The meeting, a critical decision-making platform for the project, focused on evaluating the current stage of implementation and assessing milestones achieved to date.

Deliberations highlighted notable progress across various components of the project, with emphasis placed on sustaining momentum while addressing emerging challenges.

A major highlight of the session was the review and approval of the 2026 Annual Work Plan. The Committee carefully examined proposed activities, ensuring alignment with the project’s core objectives of improving livestock productivity, strengthening resilience, and enhancing food security across Kogi State.

Speaking at the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner for Livestock Development and Chairman of the State Steering Committee, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, underscored the importance of coordinated stakeholder engagement in achieving the project’s goals. He commended the progress recorded so far and called for sustained commitment towards meeting established targets.

On his part, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Otaru Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza, highlighted the significance of the meeting in advancing project implementation. He reiterated that the committee play a pivotal role in reviewing project activities and ensuring that all interventions are aligned with the Project Development Objective (PDO) and the Kogi State Development Plan.

The meeting also provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on key operational and strategic issues, ensuring that implementation remains efficient, responsive, and impactful.

In attendance were senior government officials, project implementing partners, and other critical stakeholders whose contributions remain essential to the success of the L-PRES initiative in the state.

The State Steering Committee reaffirmed its commitment to providing effective oversight and strategic guidance, ensuring that the project continues to deliver sustainable benefits to livestock farmers and communities across Kogi State.
