Ogoshi Onawo, 14 Other Senators Voted for Mandatory Real-time Transmission Clause

Senator Onawo Ogwoshi, representing Nasarawa South, was among 15 senators who voted in favour of making mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results part of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, 2026 during a recent Senate division.

The Senators are;

1) Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central)

2) Enyinnaya Abaribe (ADC, Abia South)

3) Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central)

4) Aminu Tambuwal (PDP, Sokoto South)

5) Ireti Kingibe (ADC, FCT)

6) Seriake Dickson (PDP, Bayelsa West)

7) Onawo Ogwoshi (ADC, Nasarawa South)

8.) Tony Nwoye (LP, Anambra North)

9) Victor Umeh (APGA, Anambra Central)

10) Ibrahim Dankwambo (PDP, Gombe Central)

11) Austin Akobundu (PDP, Abia Central)

12) Khalid Mustapha (PDP, Kaduna North)

13) Sikayo Yaro (PDP, Gombe South)

14) Emmanuel Nwachukwu (APGA, Anambra South)

15) Peter Jiya (PDP, Niger South)

The vote came amid intense debate over Clause 60(3) of the bill, which deals with how results from polling units should be transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s result portal. Opponents of the Senate’s position argue that requiring real-time digital uploads is critical for transparency in future elections.

However, the majority in the Senate opted to retain a version of the clause that permits manual transmission where electronic networks fail, effectively rejecting the proposal to make real-time transmission compulsory.

The bill will now proceed to harmonisation with the House of Representatives before it is sent for presidential assent

Senator Onawo Extends Goodwill Messages to the People of Nasarawa State as Muslims and Christians observe Ramadan and Lent Periods

Beloved members of the Muslim and Christian communities,

As we approach the sacred observances of Ramadan and Lent, I, Senator Onawo, extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. It is a time of profound spiritual significance, a period dedicated to reflection, prayer, and acts of kindness. I pray that these holy seasons bring you immense blessings, inner peace, and a deepening of your faith.

Ramadan, a time of fasting, prayer, and community, calls upon our Muslim brothers and sisters to engage in heightened devotion and self-discipline. It is a month of immense spiritual growth, marked by acts of charity, compassion, and the strengthening of bonds within the community. May your fasts be accepted, your prayers answered, and your hearts filled with the light of Allah.

Lent, observed by Christians worldwide, is a period of introspection and penitence, leading up to the celebration of Easter. It is a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, a period of spiritual renewal and a deeper connection with God. May your Lenten journey be one of profound reflection, spiritual growth, and a deepening of your faith in Jesus Christ.

These two observances, though rooted in different faiths, share a common thread: a commitment to compassion, empathy, and the pursuit of a more just and loving world. They remind us of the importance of unity, understanding, and respect for all people, regardless of their background or belief.

In these challenging times, it is more crucial than ever to come together in solidarity and support one another. Let us embrace the values of peace, tolerance, and understanding, and work together to build a society where all can thrive.

May the spirit of Ramadan and Lent inspire us to be more generous, compassionate, and mindful of our neighbors. May we reach out to those in need, offering comfort and support to those who are struggling.

I wish you all a blessed and fulfilling Ramadan and Lent. May these seasons bring you closer to your faith, strengthen your bonds with loved ones, and fill your hearts with hope and joy. May peace and goodwill prevail throughout this special time and beyond.

With heartfelt sincerity and warm regards,

Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo

The Unyielding Pillar: Ciroman Doma’s March to Rebuild Nasarawa

In the heart of Nigeria, where the soil is rich with promise and the people resilient with hope, a movement is stirring—one built on the bedrock of unwavering strength and proven commitment. Distinguished Senator Mohammad Ogoshi Onawo, the Ciroman Doma, is not just a leader; he is a testament to what true service means. As the 2027 gubernatorial race in Nasarawa State draws near, his vision stands as a beacon of transformation, ready to turn aspirations into reality.

Senator Onawo’s strength lies not in words alone, but in deeds etched into the communities of Nasarawa. From the halls of the Senate to the grassroots of Doma, he has championed causes that matter—education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and agricultural revival. His legislative record speaks of a man who fights tirelessly for his people, turning challenges into opportunities and obstacles into stepping stones. In times of difficulty, he has remained a steadfast voice, a defender of the vulnerable, and a builder of bridges across divides.

True commitment is measured not by promises made, but by promises kept. As Ciroman Doma, Senator Onawo has demonstrated an unbreakable bond with Nasarawa—a bond rooted in empathy, integrity, and action. He listens before he leads, understands before he acts, and includes before he decides. His vision for Nasarawa is clear: a state where every child has access to quality education, every farmer thrives with modern support, every entrepreneur finds opportunity, and every community enjoys peace and prosperity.

Senator Onawo embodies the resilience of Nasarawa’s people—their courage, their faith, and their unwavering hope for a better tomorrow. His gubernatorial bid is not merely a political campaign; it is a collective journey toward reclaiming Nasarawa’s potential. With him, the state will not just grow—it will flourish. It will not just advance—it will lead.

Football for Peace: Senator Onawo’s Vision Scores Big at the Edomo Unity Cup.

MARABAN UDEGE, NASARAWA LGA — The atmosphere at Pilot Science Primary School was electric this weekend as the Edomo Unity and Peace Cup reached its thrilling climax. While the players battled for the trophy on the pitch, the overarching message was clear: Nasarawa State is ready for a future defined by harmony, progress, and inclusive leadership.

Though his legislative duties kept him at the capital, Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo was there in spirit and through a powerful presence.

Represented by the energetic Senior Comrade Idris Ojoko, the Senator’s message resonated deeply with the youth and elders alike, further solidifying his standing as a bridge-builder for the state.

Comrade Idris Ojoko didn’t just deliver a speech; he delivered a commitment. Highlighting Senator Onawo’s track record, Ojoko emphasized that the Senator views sports not just as a game, but as a vital tool for conflict resolution and state-wide integration. Senator Onawo believes that if we can play together on this field, we can live together in our communities," Ojoko stated.

This tournament is a microcosm of the Nasarawa he envisions—one where our diversity is our greatest strength, the 2027 gubernatorial conversation intensifies, events like the Edomo Unity Cup serve as a testament to Senator Onawo’s grassroots appeal. Here is why his "Peace Ambassador" approach is gaining such traction:
• Proven Inclusivity: By supporting local initiatives in Nasarawa LGA and beyond, Onawo is proving he is a leader for all zones, not just his primary constituency.

• Youth Empowerment: His focus on sports and education directly addresses the state's largest demographic, offering a roadmap for engagement over restiveness.

The Edomo Unity and Peace Cup ended with trophies and cheers, but the real victory was the sense of shared purpose. For the people of Maraban Udege, the presence of Senator Onawo’s team was a signal that they are seen, heard, and valued.

As we look toward 2027, it is clear that Nasarawa State needs a governor who can unite the "Home of Solid Minerals" under a single banner of peace. Based on the outpouring of support at Maraban Udege, Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo is not just in the race—he is setting the pace.

ADC Condemns APC’s Premature Political Rally in Nasarawa, Calls for Strict Adherence to the Electoral Act 2022

Press Release
13th February, 2026

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nasarawa State Chapter, strongly condemns the recent so-called “solidarity rally” organized by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, which is clearly a premature political campaign in violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It is public knowledge that political campaigns are regulated by law and must strictly comply with the timetable and directives issued by INEC. The action of the APC in kick-starting political activities under the guise of a “solidarity rally” before the official lifting of the ban on campaigns is a bad precedent, an affront to the rule of law and a deliberate attempt to undermine democratic principles in Nigeria.

The ADC views this development as irresponsible and capable of overheating the polity unnecessarily. What the APC is doing is against the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022. It is a dangerous signal that suggests desperation and disregard for due process. The ruling party in Nasarawa State must be cautioned and called to order before its actions further erode public confidence in our democratic system.

The recent political conduct of the APC in the state clearly reveals a party that is already jittery, exposing its weaknesses and betraying its fear of losing the 2027 general elections to the fast-growing and people-oriented ADC. Rather than focus on governance and delivering democratic dividends to the people of Nasarawa State, the APC has resorted to premature political maneuvering.

The ADC therefore calls on INEC and other relevant authorities to closely monitor the activities of the ruling APC to ensure full compliance with the Electoral Act and to prevent the creation of unnecessary political tension in the state. The electoral umpire must act firmly and decisively to preserve the integrity of the electoral process.

In the event that the APC is allowed to get away with this impunity against the rule of law, the ADC will consider it a manipulative and preparatory agenda aimed at compromising and rigging the 2027 general elections.

Nasarawa State deserves a peaceful, credible and law-abiding democratic process. The ADC remains committed to issue-based politics, respect for the law and the protection of democratic values.

Signed:
Comr. Idris Ojoko
State Publicity Secretary, ADC
Nasarawa State Chapter.
