Announcement from Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development.

Following the sustained efforts by the Administration of Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura to ensure regular supply of water to urban areas of the state, the turn-around maintenance on the Mada Water Works have just been completed and Water now produced and supplied 24 hours to Akwanga, Gudi, Garaku, Kokona, Keffi and surrounding towns. However, new challenges are now being faced in the form of pipe bursts and massive leakages along the pumping mains and private lines resulting from vandalism and illegal connections. The Commisioner for Water Resources and Rural Development Dr. Abdulkarim Kana has approved the shut down of the keffi line for 5 days to enable maintenance to be carried by officers of the water board. All connections to farms and car wash along Gudi- Garaku and Keffi pumping mains are to be disconnected immediately and anyone caught reconnecting the lines will be prosecuted. This is a notice to the general public benefiting from this service that at completion of the repairs, any private line left unsupervised and leaking will be disconnected and the owners made to pay penalty for the waste. Furthermore, any one caught tempering with or illegally benefiting or connected to the service will be prosecuted for theft and vandalism. Our customers are also advised to proceed to the nearest water board office to pay their bills or report leakages or illegal and criminal activities on the lines. Signed. Dr Abdulkarim A. Kana Commisioner of Water Resources and Rural Development Nasarawa State.
