Episode Eighty-one
Liam was in his office talking on the phone with Kevin.
📞"I still don't know how to convince Mom to have a change of heart...her hatred towards Isadora and her mother is still building up".He sighed tiredly. "I don't know what to do anymore; the other day, Isadora called to tell me two suspected people were hanging around their house, and she suspects it's my mom's doing....." He sighed and talked for a while before he hung up.
Meanwhile, Mrs.Elena was happy to welcome Ericka back from her visit to her father's place, Although she convinced Ericka to come back because of her son. Both were seated in the living room chatting.
"I am so happy you came back; you don't know what this means to me," Elena said excitedly.
"It's a pleasure, Aunt; I had to go stay with my Dad for a while to get over the heartbreak from Liam".Ericka said.
"Do you still love my son?".
"Yes, Aunt, with my whole being, all I want is a second chance".She said sadly.
"Not to worry, now that you are back, I will make sure you and my son come back together".She said.
"What about Isadora? I heard they are together now."
"Don't let them bother you, that thing will never get to my son again. I have given her a serious warning, and she won't dare come near my son".
"You did?".Ericka asked excitedly.
"Yes, soon my son will be yours".
"How is that going to be possible? Liam doesn't love me."
"I will make that happen; just leave everything for me."She said and they laughed.
"Hey Aunt".Mara said as she entered with some shopping bags.
"Hey, you are back".
"Yes".
"How was your shopping?".
"Great".She smiled and looked at Ericka, wondering who she was.
"Um, Mara, meet Ericka; she is Liam's fiancee," Elena said and Mara was confused. "Ericka, meet Mara; she is my sister's daughter."
"Nice to meet you, Mara".She said, smiling at her, and Mara returned the smile.
"Um, excuse me".She said and left for her room.
"Anyway, I have taken permission from your mother that you will be staying with us for a while."
"You want me to stay here?". Ericka asked.
"Yes, if Liam keeps seeing you every day, he will have a change of heart...Do you want to?".
"I would love to".
"Ok, you can move in today".
"Ok, let me get going to pack my things".She stood up and walked away while Elena smiled after her.
"Aunt, what are you doing?".Mara interrupted her from the stairs.
"What does it look like I am doing?".
"Aunt, who's that lady? I am sure that lady is not Liam's fiancee you claim she is".
"She is; Isadora is the reason why Liam ended his relationship with her."
"Aunt, since their relationship ended, why did you still ask her to come leave here with us? Do you think Liam accepts her back?".
"He will, and I will make sure of that."She said as she stood up to leave.
"Aunt, this is not fair; you are only going to bring problems to this house," Mara warned.
"I am ready for it".She climbed the staircase to her room and Mara sighed tiredly at her.
Some hours later, Ericka brought her things over. She left to enter Liam's room, and Mara interrupted her as she came out of her room.
"What are you doing?".She asked, and Ericka turned to her.
"Hi, Mara; we meet again."She said, smiling, and turned to open the door, but it was locked. She tried again, and it didn't open; Mara scoffed, staring at her. "Where is it locked?". She wonders.
"I wouldn't bother if I were you".Mara said, and Ericka turned to her confusedly.
"Meaning?".
"I know my Aunt asked you to move in here, but I will advise you to go back; Liam will get pi**ed off if you find you here."
"And why will you say that?".
"Is it obvious! You are his ex; I see no reason why you are here. Do you think he will want you back now that he has someone he truly loves with his dear heart?".She said, and Ericka frowned.
"It seems you don't like me?".She asked and Mara scoffed. "But, not to worry, you will see I am not a bad person, but the nicest person on earth".She smiled and continued trying to open the door.
"You won't be able to get in because the keys are with me".She said and walked away, and Ericka stared hard at her.
"This little d.e.v.i.l is going to be a problem".
Liam came to pick Isadora up from school, and they decided to hang out in a restaurant where they sell local meals.
"How do you know a place like this?". Isadora asked.
"Just some people talking about it, and it's a secret hideout."
"Hmm, nice".She said, and they continued eating. Just then, the thunder clapped, and it became windy. "Is about to rain".
"Yeah, we should hurry up".Liam said.
Some minutes later, they were done and they hurried to the car to avoid being beaten by the rain.
Meanwhile, Ericka was preparing dinner for everyone with the help of the cook.
"That smells nice".Mrs.Elena said as she stepped into the kitchen.
"Thanks Aunt".She smiled.
"I am sure my son will love it".
"I hope so too...when is he coming back? is going to rain heavily".
"I guess he is on his way...let me call him".She left the kitchen to her room. She took her phone and dialed Liam's number, and it wasn't connecting; she tried it again, and the same thing happened."I guess it's because of the rain." She stood up and left for the living room and then the rain started falling.
Meanwhile, Liam was driving on the road with Isadora and it started to rain heavily. Liam's tire suddenly went flat due to something he rode on.
"Oops!".
"What?".
"I guess I step on something...let me check".He stopped the car by the road and came to see the back tire of his car had gone flat. He hurried back to the car all soaked.
"What happened?".
"I just had a flat tire".He said and drove off.
"Can you manage it home?".
"I guess".
He continued to drive, but it was difficult to move fast and the rain was dropping heavily.
"Liam, find somewhere to pull over; is too dangerous to drive under this rain," Isadora said.
"Sure". He made a U-turn and located a safer place to pack. "It's safer here".
"Why does it have to rain like this today?".
"I guess it's good; I have a longer time to stay with you."He said and they smiled."Do you have class tomorrow?".
"No, just an online test tomorrow".She said.
"Ok, that's good".
"What about your car?".
"Don't worry about it; I can fix it when the rain stops falling".He said, and they relaxed on the chair.
"What if it rains till tomorrow? How are we going to make it home?". Isadora asked.
"That's not a problem, we can sleep in the car...I would have called a cab, but my phone is out of battery".
"Mine too".She said, and they sighed..."But where are we?".She looked around the place through the car and found it lonely, with no cars or humans walking around.
"I have no idea; I guess we have to wait till tomorrow morning to find out...but I can see a hut over there".He said.
Isadora leaned in her face inches from Liam's. "Where?" she asked, her eyes scanning the place.
"Right there," Liam said, his finger pointing to the hut.
As Isadora followed his finger, her cheek brushed against Jack's. They both froze, their faces suddenly too close.
In a moment of awkwardness, Liam's lips accidentally grazed Isadora's. It was a soft, fleeting touch, but it sent shivers down their spines.
