Ogunlende Attends Groundbreaking of Lagos NYSC Secretariat as Governing Board Chairman

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, has reaffirmed the Lagos State Government's commitment to youth development and the welfare of corps members at the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Lagos State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Secretariat in Yaba.

Ogunlende, who also serves as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Lagos State NYSC, joined government officials, stakeholders and members of the scheme at the ceremony held at the project site on No. 1 Industrial Avenue, Yaba.

Taking to his social media after the event, the Commissioner said, "This landmark project is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Lagos State Government to the welfare of corps members and the continuous strengthening of the NYSC Scheme.

"The new secretariat will provide a more conducive environment for effective administration and improved service delivery, ultimately enhancing the experience of corps members serving across the state."

He explained that the proposed secretariat is expected to provide a more conducive environment for effective administration and improved service delivery, thereby enhancing the overall experience of corps members posted to Lagos State.

Ogunlende commended all stakeholders whose commitment and collaboration contributed to the commencement of the project, noting that the facility represents another milestone in the state's investment in youth-focused infrastructure.

Ogunlende Named Patron of Man O’ War Nigeria, Lagos Command

Honorable Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, has been decorated as the Patron of the Lagos State Command of Man O’ War Nigeria, a reaffirmation to his commitment to youth development and leadership in the state.

The decoration took place as part of activities marking the first 100 days in office of the organisation's Lagos State Command.

Ogunlended described the paramilitary youth organisation as "dedicated to promoting discipline, patriotism, leadership and community service among young Nigerians."

Receiving the honour, Ogunlende described the conferment as a distinguished honour and said it aligns with his ongoing engagement with youth-focused organisations aimed at creating inclusive opportunities for young people across Lagos State.

"As part of my continuous engagement with youth-focused organisations and my commitment to creating an inclusive platform for young people, I am delighted to be associated with Man O’ War Nigeria and honoured to receive this conferment.

“I receive this honour with great humility and a renewed sense of responsibility,” the Commissioner stated.

He further pledged his continued support to the organisation, its programmes and activities.

Ogunlende Announces Ministry's Partnership with BEB On Child Care Automation And Digitalization

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, has announced a major step towards the automation and digitalisation of child care services in the state, following a strategic stakeholders' meeting on adoption, guardianship and fostering.

The meeting, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD), brought together key stakeholders and development partners to advance plans for a digital child care system.

Among those in attendance was the Country Manager of Better Evidence for Better Care (BEB), Mr. Silas Gyang.

According to Ogunlende, the initiative is part of reforms earlier unveiled during the ministry's ministerial briefing and has now progressed with stronger collaboration between the Lagos State Government and BEB.

The Commissioner disclosed that the partnership stemmed from discussions initiated during his participation as a Lagos delegate at the US-Africa Summit in Dallas, where he first engaged with the organisation.

"I am delighted that we have now taken another significant step towards its actualisation. This meeting is particularly important as it builds on our partnership with BEB, an organisation I encountered during my trips as a Lagos Delegate at the US-Africa Summit in Dallas," he said.

"Since that initial engagement, we have continued discussions and collaboration, which have now culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the digitalisation of our child care system."

He noted that the partnership is expected to improve efficiency, strengthen accountability, enhance data management and create a more transparent, accessible and responsive system for adoption, guardianship and fostering processes in Lagos State.

Reaffirming the ministry's commitment to innovation, Ogunlende said the reforms are designed to ensure that the best interests, safety and wellbeing of every child remain at the centre of government policies and programmes.

"We remain committed to embracing innovation and building systems that place the best interests, safety and wellbeing of every child at the centre of our policies and programmes."

The planned digitalisation of child care services is expected to modernise the administration of adoption, guardianship and fostering processes, while improving service delivery and oversight within Lagos State's child protection system.

Ogunlende Commends Fair Compensation for Landowners at Lagos Cheque Presentation

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, has lauded the Lagos State Government's commitment to transparency and fairness in infrastructure development following the presentation of compensation cheques to Project Affected Persons (PAPs) whose lands were acquired for public projects.

Ogunlende joined the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, and other dignitaries at the ceremony organised by the Lagos State Lands Bureau at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

The event featured the presentation of compensation cheques to landowners whose properties were acquired by the government in the overriding public interest to facilitate infrastructure and development projects across the state.

Speaking to media personnel after the event, Ogunlende said "the presentation of these compensation cheques reaffirms the Lagos State Government’s commitment to due process, fairness, and people-centred development.

Ogunlende Reaffirms Lagos Commitment to Fostering Inclusive Development at European Policy Dialogue

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, has emphasized the importance of international collaboration in addressing migration and human trafficking challenges following his participation in a cross-border policy dialogue held across Belgium and the Netherlands.

Ogunlende joined other Lagos State officials, European policymakers, law enforcement agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organisations under the Stronger Futures: Survivor-Centered Reintegration and Cross-Border Policy Dialogue initiative.

The engagement focused on migration governance, reintegration strategies, and anti-trafficking efforts.

Describing the visit as a valuable platform, the Commissioner said it enabled Lagos State to showcase its ongoing interventions while learning from global best practices to strengthen local systems.

“Our engagements with the European Commission and other key stakeholders highlighted the critical role of subnational governments like Lagos State in shaping migration governance and development outcomes,” he said.

He noted that discussions during the visit reinforced Lagos State’s position as Nigeria’s economic hub and its commitment to policies centred on youth empowerment, social protection, and the localisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"These discussions reinforced the importance of sustained partnerships, policy dialogue, and international cooperation in addressing the complex realities of migration and reintegration," he said.

According to Ogunlende, a major highlight of the trip, was interaction with law enforcement agencies and frontline organisations supporting victims of human trafficking.

"These engagements provided valuable insights into trafficking trends, victim identification, and the need for coordinated responses between law enforcement, social services, and civil society actors.

"They further underscored the importance of adopting survivor-centered approaches that prioritize psychosocial support, protection, and sustainable reintegration pathways for returnees."

He further disclosed that meetings with academic institutions revealed the need for research-driven policymaking, noting that evidence-based strategies are critical for designing effective social programmes targeting vulnerable populations.

Ogunlende said the visit ultimately reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to strengthening reintegration systems and fostering inclusive development through sustained international partnerships.
