ONGOING DRAIN DESILTING AND CANAL CLEARANCE CONTINUES AT WAREHOUSE ROAD

In line with the directive of the Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, the Environmental Health Services Department has continued its ongoing drainage desilting and canal clearance exercise across strategic locations within the Local Government.

Today’s operation focused on Warehouse Road, where officials commenced the opening of covered drainage slabs to provide access for comprehensive desilting works. The Department also deployed heavy equipment, including a Swamp Buggy, alongside environmental personnel to clear overgrown vegetation, remove accumulated silt and debris, and restore the flow of water through both surface and underground secondary drainage channels leading towards the Sifax Junction outfall.

These proactive interventions are aimed at improving stormwater discharge, reducing flood risks and promoting a cleaner, healthier and more resilient environment, particularly during the rainy season.

Apapa Local Government remains committed to creating a cleaner and safer environment for residents and businesses, while encouraging everyone to play their part by keeping drains free from indiscriminate waste disposal.

The exercise continues tomorrow as we move to other critical locations across Apapa.
