IFELODUN LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL ENGAGES SUPERVISORS, HoDs AND CDC ON SERVICE DELIVERY, POLICY IMPLEMENTATION AND COMMUNITY SECURITY

In its continued commitment to effective governance, accountability, and grassroots development, the 6th Legislative Council of Ifelodun LCDA, led by Hon. Ilesanmi Elijah Oluwatosin (JP), convened a strategic engagement meeting with Supervisors, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and executives of the Community Development Committee (CDC). The meeting was aimed at strengthening service delivery, assessing policy implementation, and discussing pressing security concerns within the Ojo axis of the council area. The House Leader emphasized the need for collaboration among government officials and community stakeholders to ensure sustainable development and improved welfare for residents. He noted that the Legislature remains committed to promoting policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of the people.
Present at the meeting were Hon. Ramon Ademola Ajao, Supervisor for Education and Library Services, accompanied by Mrs. Yetande; Hon. Idiat Bode, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), with her departmental representative; and Alhaja Biola Olaiya, Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure, accompanied by the Council Engineer. Also in attendance were the CDC Chairman, Alhaji Bolaji Jimoh, and the CDC Secretary, Mr. Nurudeen Mofebe. The gathering provided an avenue for stakeholders to discuss ongoing projects, departmental performances, emerging challenges, and practical solutions that would further improve governance and community development across Ifelodun LCDA.
A major focus of the engagement was the improvement of service delivery across all departments of the local government. Hon. Ilesanmi charged the Supervisors and HoDs to remain committed to excellence, professionalism, and accountability in the discharge of their duties. He stressed that public office is a call to service and that residents deserve efficient and quality services from government institutions. The House Leader further assured participants that the Legislature would continue to perform its oversight responsibilities diligently to ensure that government policies and programmes are effectively implemented for the benefit of the people.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of policies and programmes under the administration of Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo. Participants acknowledged the Chairman's commitment to people-oriented governance through initiatives in education, healthcare, infrastructure, social welfare, environmental sanitation, youth empowerment, and community security. The Legislature urged all departments to align fully with the administration's vision and ensure that approved programmes are properly executed and monitored. It was agreed that stronger collaboration among departments would enhance policy outcomes and accelerate development across the council area.
Security issues within the Ojo axis featured prominently during the discussions. The CDC leadership briefed the House on concerns raised by residents and highlighted areas requiring urgent attention. Participants examined various factors contributing to insecurity and proposed measures aimed at maintaining peace and order within the community. The Legislature emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and called for stronger cooperation among residents, community leaders, security agencies, and government institutions. The House assured the CDC of its readiness to support efforts that would promote safety and peaceful coexistence throughout the area.
Speaking further, Hon. Ilesanmi Elijah Oluwatosin (JP) reaffirmed the Legislature's commitment to protecting the interests of residents through effective representation, legislation, and oversight. He commended the Supervisors, HoDs, and CDC leadership for their contributions and encouraged them to sustain their efforts toward community development. Participants also applauded the developmental strides of Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, noting that his commitment to peace, inclusiveness, and grassroots development has earned him widespread admiration and the popular title of "The Peace Ambassador." The House pledged its continued support for the administration's developmental agenda.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed satisfaction with the discussions and resolutions reached on governance, service delivery, and security matters. The House Leader thanked all attendees and urged them to remain committed to the shared goal of building a safer, more prosperous, and progressive Ifelodun LCDA. He disclosed that the engagement forms part of a broader oversight and consultation initiative of the 6th Legislative Council. According to him, invitations and engagements with other Supervisors, Heads of Departments, and stakeholders will continue in the coming weeks to strengthen accountability, improve institutional performance, and ensure the continued delivery of democratic dividends to the good people of Ifelodun LCDA.
