UPDATES ON DRAINAGE SYSTEMS ACROSS AMUWO-ODOFIN

Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, has commenced follow-up interventions on critical drainage concerns across the Local Government.

Today, 6 October 2026, the Executive Chairman, Prince Lanre Sanusi, joined the Director of Drainage, Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, Engr. Ajadi, to inspect the abandoned drainage project at Jakande Estate, Mile 2, which had been stalled for over a year. Following an assessment of the site and discussions on the way forward, the Ministry assured that the necessary support and collaboration would be provided to facilitate the resumption and completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe. The Local Government will continue to monitor the process and follow up on the commitment.

The inspection also extended to Apple Junction and Agidimo Road, where the drainage systems were assessed and areas requiring attention identified. Assurances were received that the necessary interventions would commence immediately.

The Local Government appreciates the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment for its prompt response and continued collaboration. We also thank residents for bringing these concerns to our attention. Improving drainage infrastructure and reducing flood risks remain priorities as we work towards safer roads, protected communities and a healthier Amuwo-Odofin.
