Birthday Tribute to Comrade Samuel Jimoh

Today we celebrate a man of conviction, courage, and commitment to the people, Comrade Samuel Jimoh, as he marks another year of impactful life. As Chairman of the African Action Congress, Alimosho Chapter in Lagos State, your leadership continues to inspire hope and action at the grassroots. You have carried the weight of service with integrity, speaking truth to power and standing firm for the rights of ordinary Nigerians. Your dedication to justice, accountability, and community development sets a standard for political leadership that is both principled and people-centered.

Comrade, your birthday is not just a personal milestone but a moment for Alimosho and the entire AAC family to honor your sacrifices and vision. Justice Served for an Alimosho Resident

The African Action Congress, Alimosho Chapter, has successfully facilitated the recovery of N230,000 illegally collected by a house agent from an unsuspecting tenant in Alimosho Local Government, Lagos State. The agent, working in collaboration with a landlady, had imposed unlawful charges outside the standard legal tenancy requirements. Upon receiving the complaint, AAC Alimosho Chairman Comrade Samuel and Lagos State Deputy Chairman Comrade Ayinde Olawale took swift action to confront the injustice and ensure the rights of the innocent citizen were protected.

Standing Against Exploitation
Comrade Samuel and Comrade Ayinde Olawale engaged directly with all parties involved, insisting that the extortionate demand had no basis in law or fairness. Their intervention exposed the unethical practices of the house agent, who had taken advantage of the housing pressure faced by many Lagosians. The AAC leaders made it clear that exploitation of tenants under the guise of agency fees and hidden costs would not be tolerated in Alimosho, and that the party would continue to stand as a watchdog for the vulnerable.

Commending the Lagos Mediating Center
We express profound appreciation to the Lagos Mediating Center, Alimosho Chapter, for its decisive role in resolving this matter. The Center’s professional mediation brought the uncultured house agent to account and compelled a full refund of the N230,000 to the affected citizen. This outcome reinforces the importance of strong, accessible dispute-resolution institutions that can check abuse and restore confidence between landlords, agents, and tenants across Lagos.

Call for Structural Housing Reform
While this recovery is a victory, it also highlights a deeper problem. Too many Lagosians are forced into the hands of criminal actors parading as house agents because affordable housing options are scarce. We call on the Lagos State Government to urgently expand its affordable housing scheme and strengthen regulation of real estate practice. Every resident deserves safe, lawful, and affordable shelter without fear of extortion. Until then, AAC Alimosho will continue to defend citizens against exploitation and demand that the resources of Lagos work for all Lagosians.

Signed
Ayinde Olawale
Deputy Chairman Lagos West,AAC Lagos.

‎The recent fire at Ikotun Market early hours on New year day has destroyed livelihoods, businesses, and the hard earned sweat of our traders. AAC Alimosho Chapter stands in solidarity with every business owner affected, your loss is our loss, and your pain resonates with the entire community.

‎This tragedy is not just a misfortune; it exposes recurring patterns of negligence and weak enforcement of safety standards in our markets. We call on Lagos State Government, Ikotun-Igando LCDA, and all relevant agencies to take immediate action, to enforce fire prevention measures, and stop these preventable disasters from becoming a recurring nightmare across the state.

‎The people of Alimosho deserve safer markets, functional infrastructure, and protection for their livelihoods. AAC Alimosho will continue to hold authorities accountable and ensure the voices of our traders are heard.

‎To all affected, We mourn with you, we stand with you, and together we will rebuild stronger.
