DEMOCRACY DAY MESSAGE BY HIS EXCELLENCY, ALHAJI AHMED USMAN ODODO, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE

1. On this auspicious occasion of Democracy Day, I heartily congratulate all Nigerians on another milestone in our collective democratic journey. Today offers us an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of our heroes and the enduring strength of the democratic ideals that continue to shape our nation.

2. As the renowned American statesman, Abraham Lincoln, once said, "Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people." This timeless truth reminds us that the power of democracy lies not only in electing leaders but also in the active participation of citizens in shaping the destiny of their nation.

3. Democracy remains the most credible platform through which the people exercise their sovereign will, choose their leaders, and hold governments accountable. Despite the challenges that have confronted us as a nation, democracy has continued to provide the framework for peace, development, participation, and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms.

4. As we celebrate today, I urge all Nigerians to remain committed to the preservation and protection of our democracy. The gains we enjoy today were secured through years of struggle, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment by patriots who believed in a better Nigeria. We must reject actions capable of undermining our democratic institutions and instead strengthen the values of tolerance, dialogue, unity, and responsible citizenship.

5. As former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan aptly noted, "Good governance is perhaps the single most important factor in eradicating poverty and promoting development." Democracy provides the foundation upon which good governance can thrive, and we must continue to nurture and strengthen that foundation.

6. I particularly congratulate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose life and political journey embody the triumph of democratic struggle. As one of the foremost champions of democracy in our nation, President Tinubu stood firmly with other patriots during some of the most difficult periods in our democratic evolution. Today, democracy has afforded him the opportunity to serve the nation at its highest level, a testament to the enduring rewards of commitment to democratic ideals and service to the people.

7. As citizens, let us continue to support and pray for our country, the President, and leaders at all levels of government. Nation-building is a collective responsibility, and our prayers, patriotism, and positive contributions are essential to the realization of a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.

8. The late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR will continue to remain the pillar of our democratic consciousness. He was wealthy enough to ignore service to his people. He was powerful enough to reach compromises and bury our democracy. But he chose to fight for us and his fight birthed our modern democracy. He will continue to be remembered as the foundation of our greatness as a nation.

9. On behalf of the Government and people of Kogi State, I wish all Nigerians a memorable Democracy Day celebration. Let us remain united in our resolve to build a stronger nation where democracy continues to deliver hope, opportunity, justice, and prosperity for all.

Happy Democracy Day.

HE Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA

*DEMOCRACY DAY: A CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM, UNITY AND GOOD GOVERNANCE*

As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, I, Hon. Eunice Oluwawemimo Olukomogbon, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State on Community Peace Building, join millions of Nigerians in celebrating the resilience of our democracy and the enduring spirit of our people.

Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our heroes and heroines who fought tirelessly to ensure that the voices of citizens remain the cornerstone of governance. It is a day to reflect on our collective journey, appreciate the progress we have made, and renew our commitment to the principles of justice, equity, peace, and development.

In Kogi State, under the purposeful leadership of Ahmed Usman Ododo, efforts continue to be geared towards fostering inclusive governance, strengthening peace among communities, and creating opportunities for sustainable growth. These achievements are only possible in a democratic environment where citizens actively participate in shaping the future of their society.

As a peace-building advocate, I recognize that democracy thrives best where peace, unity, and mutual understanding exist. Therefore, I urge all citizens, especially the youth, to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and civic responsibility as we work together to build stronger and more prosperous communities.

Let us use this Democracy Day celebration to reaffirm our faith in Nigeria, support good governance, and contribute positively to nation-building. Together, we can strengthen democratic institutions and leave a legacy of peace and progress for future generations.

On this special occasion, I extend my warmest wishes to the people of Kogi State and all Nigerians. May our democracy continue to flourish, and may our nation experience greater unity, peace, and prosperity.
Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria!

*Happy children's Day to the Wonderful Children of Kogi State*

Today, we celebrate your laughter, your boundless energy, and the pure joy you bring to our homes and communities.
You are not just the future of Kogi State; you are the vibrant present that reminds us why our work matters so deeply.
As we celebrate this special day, my office remains committed to building a peaceful, safe, and harmonious environment where every child in Kogi State can play without fear, learn with dignity, and dream without limits.

Peace is not just the absence of conflict; it is the presence of a secure environment where our children can thrive. By fostering unity across our diverse communities, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous Confluence State that you will be proud to inherit.
Our Message to Parents and Educators,
Let us remember that peace is a habit taught early. Let us shield our children from division, mentor them in tolerance, and lead them by good example.
The harmonious Kogi State we desire begins with the love and unity we cultivate in our homes today.
"Children are the ultimate symbols of peace and unity. When we invest in their safety and well-being, we secure the future of our entire society."
To our incredible children: keep shining, keep learning, and keep spreading joy. We believe in you, we love you, and we are working every day to protect your peace.
Happy Children's Day!

Dear Good People of Kogi State,
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh.
As we mark the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, I extend my heartiest congratulations to the Muslim Ummah across Kogi state. This Eid-el-Fitr is not just a celebration of breaking the fast; it is a victory for the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and self-discipline that we have cultivated over the past 30 days.
In my capacity as SSA on Community Peace Building, I urge us all to use this festive period to reflect on the "Kogi Project"—a vision of a state where our rich diversity is our greatest strength. Peace is the essential ingredient for the development we all desire.
Our Commitment to You:
Under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the state government remains resolutely committed to your safety. We are working tirelessly with traditional rulers and local vigilantes to ensure that every inch of Kogi land remains a haven for peace and progress.
My Call to Action for Every Kogite:
Embrace Unity: Let us look beyond artificial divisions of tribe or religion. We are one family, united by our shared hope for a prosperous state.
Be Vigilant: Security is a collective responsibility. I enjoin you to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious movements within your communities.
Practice Charity: In the spirit of Eid, remember the less privileged, the widows, and the orphans. A hand of love extended today is a seed of peace planted for tomorrow.
May the blessings of Almighty Allah fill your homes with joy and your hearts with the spirit of forgiveness. Let us emerge from this Ramadan more united and determined to build a greater Kogi State.
Eid Mubarak! Barka da Sallah!
Signed,
Mrs Olukomogbon Oluwawemimo Eunice
