COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: CP NAZIRU ABDULMAJID PSC HOSTS RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS, KEKE NAPEP RIDERS IN STRATEGIC MEETINGS
In furtherance of the Borno State Police Command’s commitment to inclusive policing, community partnership and enhanced public safety, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, has held separate strategic engagements with the Association of Retired Police Officers, Borno State Chapter, and the Association of Keke Napep Riders, Borno State Command.
During the meeting with the Association of Retired Police Officers, the Commissioner of Police, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, called for strengthened collaboration between the retired officers and the serving police personnel.
The CP emphasized the importance of the welfare of retired police officers, noting that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring that the contributions and sacrifices of its retired personnel are acknowledged and respected. He further encouraged members of the association to continue upholding the values of professionalism, discipline and integrity, while assuring them of the IGP open door policy through the State Command for constructive dialogue and the prompt consideration of legitimate concerns. He urged them to channel their grievances and concerns through the appropriate channels and in a responsible manner that would not compromise the interests of national security.
Responding, the association, led by RTD. CSP Yusuf Yari, expressed its commitment to supporting the Command and contributing its wealth of experience toward strengthening policing in the State. The association also pledged continued adherence to professional standards, discipline and responsible engagement with the serving police personnel.
In a separate engagement with the Association of Keke Napep Riders, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid called for greater cooperation and information sharing between the riders and the Police Command.
The Commissioner described commercial tricycle operators as important stakeholders in community safety, noting that their daily movement across communities places them in a unique position to observe developments and provide useful information capable of assisting the Police in preventing and detecting crime.
He therefore urged the riders to remain vigilant, law abiding and responsible, and to promptly report suspicious movements, persons or activities to the Police and other appropriate security agencies.
In his response, the Chairman of the Keke Napep Riders Association, Mr Ahmed Goni Sanda, assured the Command of the association’s full support and cooperation. He also raised concerns affecting the association and reaffirmed the commitment of its members to responsible conduct, information sharing and partnership with the Police in maintaining peace and security across Borno State.
The meetings underscore the Borno State Police Command’s commitment to community oriented policing, stakeholder collaboration, professional conduct and intelligence-led policing, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security, public confidence and the safety of residents across the State.
