BENUE APC ANNOUNCES GOVERNOR ALIA’S THANK-YOU TOUR ACROSS 11 FEDERAL CONSTITUENCIES

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State Chapter, has announced a state-wide Thank-You Tour by the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, across the 11 Federal Constituencies of the state.

The tour, which begins on Monday, August 24, 2026, is aimed at enabling the Governor to personally appreciate APC faithful, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, party elders and other critical stakeholders for their support, while further strengthening the relationship between the government, the party and the people.

The State APC therefore calls on all government appointees, members of the State Executive Committee, Local Government Area party executives, party stakeholders and members of the APC in the respective constituencies to turn out massively to welcome His Excellency.

Also expected are traditional rulers, political leaders, party elders and other invited stakeholders.

The itinerary is as follows:

Monday, August 24, 2026
• Sankera Federal Constituency: Katsina-Ala, Ukum & Logo — Katsina-Ala, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
• Kwande Federal Constituency: Kwande & Ushongo — Adikpo, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
• Jechira Federal Constituency: Vandeikya & Konshisha — Vandeikya, 5:00 p.m.

OJU LGA BANS OPEN GRAZING AND SCRAP METAL SCAVENGING AS CHAIRMAN SIGNS NEW BY-LAW

The Executive Chairman of Oju Local Government Area, Ominyi Jackson, has signed into law a by-law prohibiting the rearing of cows within Oju LGA and regulating the activities of scrap metal buyers.

The new law provides for the full implementation of the Benue State Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, 2017, as amended, within Oju LGA.

It also covers the regulation of scavenging and scrap metal activities across the LGA.

Hon. Ominyi said the move is aimed at promoting peace, security, and a cleaner environment in Oju Local Government Area.

The Benue State Steering Committee on Coal, Coalbed Methane and Allied Resources today, August 20, 2026, rediscovered another 57-year-old abandoned oil well at Okwuji in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.

Exploration of the oil deposit is expected to commence on or before December 2026.

Benue State House of Assembly during it afternoon session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, MNIQS, RQS, adopted the reports of the ad- hoc committee and approves the Suspension of Executive Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council Hon. Vitalis Terhile Neji to a period of three (3) Months pending proper investigation into the petition brought against him.

Hon. Neji is to handover to the Deputy Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council who is to act as Caretaker Chairman of the council within the period.

Just yesterday 20th August, I embarked on a congratulatory visit to makurdi, paying my leader Rt. Hon. Chief Nick Eworo a courtesy in his GRA apartment.

Today 21st August, he has again taken the oath to serve the Benue people in the State Executive Council.

GOV. ALIA SWEARS-IN NEW COMMISSIONERS, CHARGES THEM TO SERVE WITH INTEGRITY

Benue State Governor Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has sworn-in seven newly appointed commissioners with a charge on them to act with integrity and always put the public interest first.

Performing the ceremony today at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia told the commissioners that their emergence was not merely an elevation to public office, but a call to service and opportunity to contribute to the development and prosperity of the state.

As directed by His Excellency Governor Alia, the Ministry of works inspected access roads to the oil field at Opialu, Okpokwu Local Government Area with the view to open the oil field for exploration activity, Engr Wombo, Engr Mahamed of Gatami Enterprise and his Survey team.

The team was received by Chief Dr. Mathew Agaba who is an lustrous son of Ipialu community. There are Preliminary survey in progress for the commencement of construction work.
