Today, I received the Army Headquarters Implementation Committee and reaffirmed the commitment of the Benue State Government to provide full support for the establishment of the 5 Division Headquarters in Makurdi and other approved military formations in the State.

I deeply appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the leadership of the Nigerian Army for this historic decision, which will strengthen security, protect lives and property, and restore public confidence across Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi States.

Today, I welcomed the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and his delegation to Benue State for an operational assessment visit and a strategic town hall engagement on security.

The security of our people remains my administration’s highest priority. We will continue to work hand in hand with the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, other security agencies, our traditional institutions and community leaders to ensure that every part of Benue is safe for our people to live, farm and prosper.

I made it clear once again that the time has come to move beyond debates about whether Nigeria needs State Police. The real conversation should now be how to make it operational. Security is most effective when those protecting our communities understand the people, the terrain and the local realities.

Benue has remained steadfast in supporting security agencies with operational vehicles, motorcycles, communication equipment and other logistics. We are also strengthening intelligence sharing, inter-agency collaboration and coordinated operations to confront terrorism and criminal elements.

I appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the Federal Government’s continued support in addressing security challenges across our state. I also commend the Inspector-General of Police and the Benue State Commissioner of Police for deepening community policing and youth engagement as vital tools for sustainable peace.

I have assured the Inspector-General of Benue State’s full support for the proposed 14-day security sweep across the state. Together, we will continue to deny criminals any safe haven.

I also reaffirm my commitment to ensuring that all internally displaced persons return safely to their ancestral homes. It is encouraging that many of our people have already returned to their communities to farm this season, and our administration will continue to support them with farm inputs and every necessary security measure.

To every Benue son and daughter, I urge you to continue supporting our security agencies with credible information. Security is a shared responsibility, and together, we will reclaim every inch of our land.

We will not relent until every family can sleep in peace, every farmer can return to the fields without fear, and Benue fully regains its place as Nigeria’s Food Basket.

Yesterday, I joined the great people of Mbatiav to bid farewell to a distinguished elder statesman, Late Chief Joseph Orngudwem, whose life was defined by integrity, humility and selfless service.

In his honour, I reaffirmed our commitment to deliver key development projects for the Mbatiav community while calling on all Benue people to remain united against the forces threatening our peace.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Today, I visited Otukpo to identify with our people and personally commiserate with the families and communities affected by the recent senseless attacks in Akpachi and Otukpo-Nobi by armed herders.

The pain of every Benue family is my pain, and I remain resolute in my constitutional and moral responsibility to protect the lives and property of every citizen of our dear state.

I also visited the victims receiving treatment at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, and I have directed that the Benue State Government takes full responsibility for their medical care. No victim of this tragedy will be abandoned.

At the Palace of His Royal Majesty, the Ochi’Idoma, I reaffirmed our commitment to restoring lasting peace across every part of Benue. We have continued to strengthen our security architecture by providing logistics, motivation, and critical support to security agencies, and we will not relent until every terrorist and criminal element is flushed out of our land.

I urge all our people to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious movements. Security is a shared responsibility, and together we will defeat those who seek to threaten our peace and heritage.

To every son and daughter of Benue, I give you my solemn assurance: We will not surrender our land. We will not abandon our people. We will continue to pursue every lawful measure until peace, security, and normalcy are fully restored across our state.

Today, I addressed the Presidential State House Press Corps on how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold economic reforms are translating into real development in Benue State.

The results speak for themselves:

• Over 550km of roads undergoing construction and rehabilitation with many already completed.
• Construction of the first Underpasses/flyovers in the state transforming Makurdi and Gboko, with Otukpo next.
• Establishment of the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh.
• Over 422 new and reconstructed basic education facilities across our 23 Local Government Areas, including storey buildings.
• Construction of the Food Basket Breweries; producing Zeva Premium Beer, Zeva Malt, and Oyi Bitters, revival of Bensono Juice & Concentrate Factory, and the ongoing revival of Taraku Mills.
• Massive investments in agriculture, healthcare, and rural development.
• Provision of over 120 Hilux vehicles, 620 motorcycles, and 6 patrol boats to strengthen security.
• Implementation of the ₦75,000 minimum wage from N18,000, with consistent payment of salaries, and the gradual clearance of inherited pension and gratuity arrears. Etc

We have expanded support for our farmers, improved healthcare delivery, and created new opportunities for investment, jobs, and economic growth.

Our administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, prudent management of public resources, and ensuring that every kobo entrusted to us delivers measurable value to the great people of Benue State.
