NIGER STATE FLAGS OFF 2026 WET SEASON AGRICULTURAL INPUTS & ASSETS DISTRIBUTION UNDER NG-CARES 2.0

The Niger State Government has flagged off the distribution of 2026 wet season agricultural inputs and productive assets to beneficiaries under the NG-CARES 2.0 Result Area 2 programme.

The intervention is designed to strengthen food production, protect livelihoods, support vulnerable households and stimulate economic activities across communities in Niger State.

A total of 15,922 farmers will benefit from the programme, with 15,800 farmers receiving production inputs and 122 farmers receiving individual agricultural production assets.

The inputs include:

🌾 2,350 metric tons of fertilizer
🌱 21.61 metric tons of improved rice seeds
🌽 102.95 metric tons of improved maize seeds
🧪 15,600 litres of herbicides
🧴 15,600 litres of insecticides

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Minna, the Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to making agriculture a pathway to food security, wealth creation, employment and sustainable economic development.

The State Government has also supported farmers across all 25 Local Government Areas, including the provision of 132,000 bags of fertilizer at subsidized rates and 10 tractors to each LGA to boost agricultural production.

This is more than an agricultural intervention — it is an investment in the livelihoods, productivity and economic future of Niger State.

FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO FLAGS OFF RENEWED HOPE FARM INPUT SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR NORTH CENTRAL ZONE

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has flagged off the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme (FISP) for the North Central region in Minna.

The programme, under the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), will support over 20,000 smallholder farmers across Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kwara States with 80,640 bags of NPK fertilizer.
Governor Bago described the intervention as timely and impactful, reaffirming Niger State's commitment to increasing agricultural production to 2.5 million metric tons of grains this year.

The event also featured the signing of an MoU between NADF and the benefiting states, alongside the symbolic presentation of fertilizers to beneficiaries.

Together, we are strengthening food security, empowering farmers, and advancing sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria.
