The Abu Arief Community Development Foundation is pleased to announce the successful purchase and presentation of an electric wheelchair valued at Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N850,000) to Bashir Ishaq, a student of the School of Nursing, Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, Yobe State.

ALL ROADS LEAD TO ASABA FOR PHYSICAL SESSIONS OF SILB AFRICA 2026 AS VIRTUAL FELLOWSHIP TRAINING ENDS

The Abu Arief Community Development Foundation has concluded its participation in the virtual pre-fellowship training series of the Social Innovation and Leadership Bootcamp (SILB) Pan Africa 2026, held yesterday. The Foundation is now making adequate preparations for the physical bootcamp scheduled to hold this coming week in Asaba, Delta State, where its management staff who secured admission will be participating. The one-week intensive training marks a significant step in leadership development for the Foundation.

As a young and growing organisation, the Abu Arief Community Development Foundation considers investment in human capital development as a top priority. The Foundation is therefore investing heavily in the capacity building of its staff to ensure that all programmes and activities are implemented professionally and in strict alignment with its core mandate of community development.

The final virtual training session, which concluded the pre-fellowship series, focused on a critical theme: Monitoring, Evaluation, Impact and Sustainability. The session was designed to equip Fellows with the requisite skills to measure their interventions, demonstrate concrete impact, learn from field experiences, and think beyond immediate project implementation towards long-term sustainability.

The highly engaging session was facilitated by Amina Onyinoyi Ahuraka, a seasoned Development Practitioner working at the intersection of programmes, people, data and community impact. With expertise spanning programme coordination, monitoring and evaluation, youth development and community-focused initiatives, and a background in Software Engineering, Amina brings a systems-thinking approach to development work. Fellows are now set for the main Leadership Bootcamp in Asaba.

Developing Leaders. Building Solutions. Transforming Communities.

ABU ARIEF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION STRENGTHENS CAPACITY AS MANAGEMENT ATTENDS SILB AFRICA 2026 VIRTUAL SESSION

The Management Staff of Abu Arief Community Development Foundation has demonstrated its strong commitment to capacity development by attending the Session 3 Virtual Training of the Social Innovators and Leadership Bootcamp (SILB) Africa 2026, held today Saturday, 26th September, 2026.

The session, which commenced at 8:00 PM Nigeria Time, featured Hon. Jim Karygiannis, former Member of the Canadian Parliament and former Toronto City Councillor. Speaking from Toronto, Canada, Hon. Karygiannis delivered a keynote address on the theme “THE ARCHITECTS OF CHANGE - Developing Leaders, Building Solutions, Transforming Communities,” with a focus on the topic “FROM IDEAS TO IMPACT: Strategies for Turning Ideas into Sustainable Impact.”

In his address to over 250 emerging leaders from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and The Gambia, the former Canadian lawmaker emphasized that leadership begins with a decision to act, not a title.

He charged participants to listen before leading, mobilize people and non-financial resources, build strong partnerships, start with achievable goals, measure impact, and build sustainable institutions by developing other leaders. He noted that Africa’s greatest resource is its people, particularly its youth, and described initiatives like SILB Africa as critical to transforming communities.

For Abu Arief Community Development Foundation, participation in the session aligns with its core value of continuous learning and building a competent team for sustainable community impact.

The knowledge gained on resource mobilization, partnership building and turning ideas into sustainable action will further strengthen the Foundation’s interventions across its focus areas.
