Average temperature is about 320c but humidity can be as high as 95% , there are about 25-30 semi-urban areas and 860 villages and hamlets in the local government area and the people the people are pre –dominantly Egba who have their home and farms and in the area but mostly reside in Abeokuta. Others are the lgedes, ljeshas and other minority groups, it is remarkable to be note that the local government play host to university of Agriculture, Abeokuta Federal College of Education, Osiesle, Ogun Osun River Basing Development Authority and state Headquarters of Nigeria Police Eleweran.

INTRODUCTION Odeda local Government is one of the twenty local governments in ogun state of Nigeria. The headquarters is at Odeda located at Abeokuta Ibadan road which is about 20 Kilometers from the state capital Abeokuta. It was created out of Egba Division council in October 1955 by the Action group control western Nigeria government of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo the first premier of the region. The council area has an extensive landmass mostly grassland with an area of 1263.45sqkm and a population of 109,449 according to the 2006 population census figure with an annual growth rate of ten percent and upward increase of 10,334 to that 1991 population consensus figure, of 99,115 people. OCCUOATION The people of Odeda local government are predominantly famers. Who engage in small scale farming the major food crops of the area including cassava, yam, cocoyam, plantain, maize and vegetable, while cocoa is the major cash crop, in the recent ties however, the people of the area engage themselves in quarry business, trading, craft and artisan works, however, agric – based industries take a lead among know economic activities. There is also the presence of herds and herdsmen in the local government area as result of availability of grassland. The major markets in the local government area include Olodo, Olugbo, kila, Alabata and Osiesle. These markets are patronized every 5day by traders who come from neighbouring towns and states. RELIGION Islam and Christianity are the major religion in the local government. As there are Muslims so also are Christians, who worship in various mosques and churches scattered all over the local government area. However, there still remain pockets of committed traditional worshipers who are given freehand to operate as they go about their normal business unhindered. There is religious harmony in the local government area. CULTURE The people of Odeda local government share common cultural traits with other Yoruba found in the south western Nigeria. Their woman normally dress in buba and Iro, and sometimes with Gele (Headgear) and Ipele to match, the men folk dress in Buba and Sokoto, and at times of festivities in Agbada and fila (cap) to match. Food items associated with them are Eba, fufu, lafun (white Amala) derived from cassava. Black Amala and Iyan (pounded yam), others are cocoyam and plantain etc. prominent festivals like yam festival, Egungun, Orisa which are celebrated intermittently attract indigenes and visitors from far and near. ADMINISTRATION Since inception, Odeda local government has been blessed with capable and experienced hands in the running of affairs of the local government, the council invested in human resources development as the pivot for setting the stage for industrial take-off, the present administration of the local government is anchored on and spear headed by a group of carefully selected seasoned professionals with knack for excellence, A special scheme for manpower training and development is in operation to acquaint staff members with modem techniques of management in collaboration with the local government service commission. AREA OFFICES The Administrative set-up of the local government is systematically structured to enhance efficiency and speedy actualization of set goals and objectives. For this reason, the local government is divided into three administrative zones to bring government and development to the door step of each and every household in the local government area. Each zone comprises of a number of towns and villages administered through Area offices. The principal assignment of the Area officer who is the administrative head of the area office is to co-ordinate local government programme and projects in his/her area of operation and send feedback on the needs of the people to the local government chairman/management. The area officer also doubles as the chief revenue collector for the local government in his/her area. All area officers are supervised by the Director of General Service and administration to whom they send monthly reports of their activities. (1) ODEDA LOCAL GOVERNMENT HEADQUARTERS: Comprising Odeda, Olugbo, osiele, Baale ogunbayo, oluga, ilagbe, Balogun itesi, Camp, Irogun Church, Eweje, Isolu and itesi Ajegunle. (2) ILUGUN AREA OFFICE: Comprising Orile llugun, Egbeda, Olugbemi, Mosafejo. Ajegunle, Seeni Adetunji, Fagbohun, Itako Fadipe, Kojoku, Orile Gbadun, Jaguna Ayelagba and itese ligigun. Others are Olorode, Apesin, Agunrun, Olosan and Akintoye. (3) OPEJI/BODE OLUDE AREA OFFICE: Comprising Opeji, mawuko village, lldo, ajoyo, Aberense, Agiya Olope, Efunsoro, Amusango, Baginode, Ewuji, Ajakan, Arobo, llao/Baleekan, Aigbede, Babaleja, lkija-igbolorun, Owu-Sotan, Asu, Adisa, Abule-Opeji, Elemo and ilupeju Opeji others are Bode-olude , Adalo, Isope, Abu, Arono, ijoagbe, Ewuji, Ogo-Olu, Elemo and Oniyanrin. (4) OBATONKO AREA OFFICE: Comprising Obatonko, Awobienu, lakere, onibode, Akala, Oke, Ogunjobi, Otunba kemta, Ayetutu, Iyanbu, Morekete, Akepe, Gangudu, Sogbanmu, Gbagura Erinmarun, jaguna Ake, erinwo kemta, Gbonagun and ikereku, others are lgbefun Olu, Kereku, Surulere Oke- odo, Araromi Ayegunle, Abolade Oke-odo, Olorunsogo , Akingbala, Ogbagba, iporo Egbatedo, llupeju Okodo, ltako Abayomi and Oluwo ltesi.
