Long before conversations about economic transformation, industrial clusters, and investment opportunities became commonplace, there were visionaries who dared to build.

One of such men was Chief (Dr.) David Adebayo Amao-Alata, a pioneering industrialist whose name became synonymous with enterprise and industry in Ogbomosoland.

Born in 1938 in Ogbomoso, Chief Alata rose from humble beginnings to build one of the most remarkable business empires in the history of our city. After returning from Ghana in 1969, he established a diverse conglomerate that included Alata Flour Mills, Alata Motors, Alata Candles, Alata Brewery, and Alata Supermarket, creating thousands of jobs and stimulating economic activity across the region.

At its peak, his business empire employed over 10,000 people, making him one of the foremost industrialists of his generation. Through his ventures, he demonstrated that Ogbomoso was not only a city of traders and farmers, but also a city capable of producing world-class manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
Chief Alata’s story reminds us that economic transformation is not a new dream for Ogbomoso. It is a vision that has been carried by generations of builders, innovators, and risk-takers who believed in the potential of our land.
