PRESS RELEASE.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE GRUESOME MURDER OF COMR. IFEANYI ISHMAEL AZUAZU, PRESIDENT OF OMOKU YOUTH FEDERATION (OYF).

February 8th, 2026

The ONELGA Young Progressive Party (YPP) is shocked and outraged by the brutal murder of Comr. Ifeanyi Ishmael Azuazu, President of the Omoku Youth Federation (OYF), and the killing of his aide, Mr. Chigozie Olowu. We condemn this heinous act in the strongest possible terms and extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the OYF, and the entire Omoku community.

We call on the Rivers State Governor, as the Chief Security Officer of the State, to intervene and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. We appeal to all sons and daughters of Omoku to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.

We urge everyone to avoid spreading false rumors that may escalate tensions and compromise the ongoing investigation. This is crucial not only for maintaining peace but also for protecting Omoku's economy. False news can drive away investors, harm local businesses, and deter future investments. Let's assure everyone that Omoku is a peaceful place and will remain so. We must work together to attract investors, drive development, and boost productivity.

To prevent similar incidents, we recommend enhanced security measures, community policing, and collaboration between security agencies and the community. We also call for increased youth engagement and empowerment programs to address underlying issues.

The ONELGA YPP sympathizes with the OYF, the bereaved families, and the entire Omoku community. We will continue to work with security agencies to ensure that justice is served and peace is restored in Omoku.

Signed:

Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu.

PRESS RELEASE.

A Plea to the Youths of ONELGA: Don't Let Politics Turn Our Land to a Bloodbath.

29th January, 2026.

To the Youths of ONELGA,

The ink is barely dry on our New Year resolutions, but the scent of blood and destruction is already in the air. As politicians negotiate for power and office in Rivers State, especially here in ONELGA, we are being dragged back to the dark days of 2015.

Do you remember the tears, the screams, and the gunshots? Do you remember the burnt homes, the destroyed businesses, and the lives lost? We thought we had turned the page, but the politicians are rewriting the script.

We're being asked to take up arms, to kill and be killed, all for the sake of a politician's ambition. But what's the gain? A few pieces of silver, a fleeting moment of power, or a lifetime of regret?

Oh, youths of ONELGA, don't let them use you as pawns in their game of power! Don't let them trade your lives for their victory! They will come and go, but we will remain, bearing the scars of their greed.

We're still counting the cost of 2015. Mothers still weep for their lost children, wives for their husbands, and communities for their destroyed homes. Must we relive that nightmare?

I implore you, dear youths, say no to arms deals, no to killings, and no to destruction. Say yes to peace, yes to progress, and yes to a better future.

To the politicians, I say: have mercy on our people! Think of the blood you will shed, the lives you will ruin, and the communities you will destroy.

To the security agencies, I urge you: be our shield, protect our people, and prevent another catastrophe.

To the youths of ONELGA, I say: let's stand together for peace, for our future, and for our very lives. Let us say no to violence and yes to a brighter tomorrow.

Enough is enough! Let's not trade our future for their ambition!

Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu.
Chairman, ONELGA YPP.

OPEN LETTER TO BARR. SHEDRACK OGBOGU, ONELGA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN.

January 18th, 2026

We acknowledge your initiative to purchase JAMB forms for Onelga students, but question the timing and prioritization. How can we support students with this gesture when we've neglected their needs throughout their studies?

Is this a genuine attempt to empower or a political move? We've seen such "empowerment" before, with no follow-up or support for students post-JAMB. What's the plan to ensure these students succeed?

We urge you to invest in meaningful projects that create opportunities for our youth. Equip them with skills, prepare them for university life, and support their future. That's development.

To the Chairman's PAs and SAs, advise him wisely. You're paid to guide him towards decisions that benefit Onelga, not just score political points. The people are watching.

Let's work together for a productive future.

Best Regards,

Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu.
Chairman, ONELGA YPP.

PRESS RELEASE.

OYF ELECTION: A CALL FOR UNITY AND PROGRESS.

January 16th, 2026

The Onelga Young Progressives Party (YPP) commends the Omoku Youth Federation (OYF) for conducting a peaceful election on January 14th, 2026. We appreciate the sportsmanship displayed by all aspirants, despite some irregularities observed during the process, particularly in the General Secretary and President positions.

We acknowledge the concerns raised by various stakeholders and caution the OYFECO members to ensure transparency and fairness in future elections. While we have questions unanswered, we choose to move forward, prioritizing peace and progress in Omoku.

The 2026 OYF election was one of the most peaceful in Omoku's history, with contestants demonstrating a strong desire to serve. We congratulate Mr. Ifeanyi Azuazu, the newly elected OYF President, and urge him to be inclusive, engaging all aspirants and interest blocs in his administration.

To our political elites, we appeal: allow the OYF leadership to serve the people, not your interests. Be advisors, not dictators. Your support and sponsorship are acknowledged, but respect their autonomy.

We wish the elected OYF executive council members a successful, peaceful, and productive tenure.

Best Regards,

Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu.
Chairman, ONELGA YPP.

PRESS RELEASE!

ONELGA YPP STANDS WITH COUNCIL WORKERS, DEMANDS IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF SALARIES.

January 13th, 2026

The Onelga Young Progressives Party (YPP) stands in solidarity with the courageous council workers of Onelga Local Government Area who took to the streets yesterday, January 12th, 2026, to demand their rightful salaries. For months, these dedicated public servants have been denied their hard-earned pay, leaving them and their families struggling to make ends meet.

We, the leadership and members of ONELGA YPP, condemn in the strongest terms the callous disregard for the welfare of these workers by the Local Government Chairman, Sir. Dr. Shedrack Chukwu Ogbogu. It is unacceptable and shameful that those entrusted with the responsibility to manage the affairs of Onelga LGA have failed to prioritize the payment of salaries.

The council workers are not just employees; they are fathers, mothers, breadwinners, and contributors to the development of Onelga. Their salaries are not a favor, but a right that must be respected and honored. The non-payment of salaries is not only a breach of contract but also a betrayal of the trust reposed in the leadership of Onelga LGA.

We demand that Barr. Chuks Ogbogu and the Local Government Administration take immediate action to pay all outstanding salaries and allowances owed to council workers and other employees of the Local Government. Specifically, we urge the authorities to address the issue of omitted names from the last verification exercise. These individuals, including health workers, possess valid employment letters and are not ghost workers. It is imperative that their situation is rectified and their salaries are paid without further delay.

We particularly emphasize that health workers, who are always on duty, should not be owed their salaries under any circumstance. Their dedication to providing essential healthcare services to our community deserves our utmost appreciation and timely compensation.

We call on the State Government to intervene and ensure that the rights of these workers are protected.

The people of Onelga are watching, and we will not stand idly by while their livelihoods are threatened. We urge the council workers to remain resolute and peaceful in their demands, and we assure them of our unwavering support.

We, the ONELGA YPP, will not hesitate to take further action, including protests and advocacy, to ensure that the rights of our people are respected.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

PAY THE WORKERS NOW!

Solidarity Forever!

Signed,

Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu
Chairman, ONELGA YPP.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION: SECURE ONELGA, PROTECT OUR PEOPLE.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.

I, Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu, Chairman of ONELGA YPP, urgently call on the ONELGA Council Chairman, Sir. Dr. Chukwu Shedrack O. to take immediate action to address the escalating insecurity in our Local Government Area.

As we approach the festive season, we must prioritize the safety and security of our people. I urge the Chairman to beef up security measures, particularly in supporting our local security outfit, OSPAC, with the necessary resources and gadgets to effectively combat the threats posed by terrorists and bandits.

Let us recall the proud history of OSPAC's dedication to protecting our fatherland, and I have no doubt that with our collective efforts, we can achieve success once again. I encourage the Chairman to prioritize the welfare of OSPAC personnel and provide them with the necessary support to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.

To the general public, I make a clarion call to join forces with us in this fight against insecurity. We must all play our part in providing timely and accurate information to the relevant authorities to help combat security threats. I urge everyone to be vigilant, especially in public places such as hotels and nightclubs, and to work closely with security agencies to ensure our collective safety.

In light of the current security situation, I recommend that the Chairman bans the use of fireworks and other bangers in the LGA to avoid confusion and misinterpretation of sounds. I also appeal to OSPAC to intensify their training and retraining programs to equip their personnel with the necessary skills to tackle the security challenges ahead.

Let us stand together, ONELGA YPP, OSPAC, and the people of ONELGA, to secure our land and protect our future. The safety of our people is our collective responsibility.

Recommendations:

- The Chairman should establish a security task force to coordinate efforts with OSPAC and other security agencies.
- Public awareness campaigns should be launched to educate citizens on the importance of security vigilance.
- Hotels, nightclubs, and other public places should be required to implement enhanced security measures.
- OSPAC should be provided with necessary resources, including communication equipment and intelligence gathering tools.

Together, we can make ONELGA safe and secure!

Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu.
Chairman, ONELGA YPP.

Fellow Youths of Omoku,

I am honored to extend my warmest congratulations to all the aspiring candidates who have thrown their hats into the ring for the upcoming Omoku Youth Federation (OYF) elections, scheduled for early 2026. Your decision to contest for various offices is a testament to your commitment to the growth and development of our beloved federation.

Your leadership should translate to development, employment, and growth for Omoku Youth Federation and our communities.
