In a warm and engaging morning chat held at his residence in Ndoni on Monday, 12th October, 2026, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) candidate for Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Enebeli Afam Reginald, through his Director-General of Campaign, Mr. Chukwunonso Frank, expressed profound gratitude to the good people of ONELGA Constituency II for the confidence and trust reposed in him ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Enebeli described the people of Constituency II as exceptionally peaceful, law-abiding, hardworking, and accommodating, noting that their hospitality and communal spirit remain outstanding qualities worthy of appreciation and preservation.

He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to YPP members from Ndoni Kingdom, Egbema Kingdom, and Usomini Clan of Ogbaland, alongside non-party members who joined the gathering. He acknowledged their presence as a demonstration of unity, shared aspirations, and a collective desire for a better future for the constituency.

A NEW DAWN OF PEOPLE-ORIENTED REPRESENTATION

The meeting was marked by lively, constructive, and forward-looking discussions centred on the development priorities of ONELGA Constituency II. Participants expressed optimism about the prospect of a new chapter of purposeful representation, responsive leadership, and tangible democratic dividends.

Key areas of discussion included:

- Education: Promoting access to quality education and creating opportunities for students and young people to thrive.
- Youth empowerment: Supporting skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and initiatives that will enable youths to become economically independent.
- Care for the elderly: Recognising and appreciating the sacrifices of senior citizens who laid the foundation for the present generation, while advocating policies and initiatives that promote their welfare and dignity.
- Healthcare: Encouraging improved access to affordable and quality healthcare services for constituents.
- Infrastructural development: Advocating improved roads, basic amenities, and other essential infrastructure that will enhance the quality of life across the constituency.

These discussions reinforced the need for leadership that listens, consults, prioritises the people's needs, and remains accountable to those it represents.

ONELGA YPP CHAIRMAN REAFFIRMS CONFIDENCE IN THE CANDIDATE

The amiable Chairman of ONELGA YPP, Hon. Ogbowu Alwell Chinedu, was also present at the meeting. In his remarks, he encouraged Hon. Enebeli Afam Reginald to remain focused, humble, accessible, and committed to the aspirations of the people.

He called on the good people of Constituency II to give the candidate their support, expressing confidence in his capacity to pursue the political expectations of the people and champion meaningful development for the constituency.

OMOKU MUST PLAN TODAY FOR THE MEGA CITY OF TOMORROW.

A New Month Call for Sustainable Urban Planning, Proper Drainage and a Flood-Free Omoku.

October 1, 2026.

As we welcome the beautiful month of October, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to the good people of Omoku, ONELGA, Rivers State, and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

October is particularly significant to us as Nigerians as we celebrate our nation's 66th Independence Anniversary. Nigeria attained independence on October 1, 1960, and today, 66 years later, we are reminded not only of our journey as a nation but also of our responsibility to build communities that future generations will be proud to inherit.

For me, however, this October must also be a moment to look closely at Omoku and the direction in which our rapidly growing town is heading.

Having moved around different parts of my hometown in recent times, one issue has become increasingly difficult to ignore: Omoku is growing rapidly, but our physical development and urban planning must grow with it.

Omoku is gradually transforming into a major urban centre. New houses, businesses, roads and other developments are emerging every day. This growth is encouraging and should be celebrated. However, growth without proper planning can create problems that become extremely difficult and expensive to correct in the future.

One of the most pressing concerns is flooding and inadequate drainage infrastructure.

In several parts of Omoku, buildings and other developments appear to have obstructed natural waterways and drainage routes. Consequently, whenever there is heavy rainfall, water struggles to find its natural passage, resulting in flooding that damages properties, disrupts businesses, affects roads and creates unnecessary hardship for our people.

This should concern every stakeholder who genuinely cares about the future of Omoku.

Omoku is blessed with rivers and natural water channels. Instead of allowing rainwater to remain stagnant within our communities, we should develop a properly planned drainage system that connects strategically to suitable natural waterways and allows stormwater to flow away efficiently.

This is not merely about managing today's flooding.

It is about planning Omoku for the next 20, 30, 50 years and beyond.

A CALL FOR A STANDARD OMOKU COMMUNITY PLANNING TEAM

In this regard, I respectfully call on the Chairman of the Omoku Communities Development Committee, Hon. Amua Harcourt I., and other relevant community stakeholders to give serious consideration to establishing a standard Omoku Community Planning and Development Team made up of qualified professionals and credible stakeholders.

Such a team should have a clear mandate to:

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive physical development plan for Omoku.
- Identify and protect existing waterways, drainage routes and natural flood channels.
- Establish appropriate drainage corridors across developing areas.
- Discourage or prevent construction that blocks waterways and drainage channels.
- Promote orderly residential, commercial and industrial development.
- Work with relevant government authorities, engineers, surveyors, environmental experts and other professionals.
- Consider the future expansion of Omoku before approving or supporting community developments.
- Educate property owners and residents on the dangers of blocking waterways.
- Develop long-term strategies for flood prevention and environmental management.
- Preserve public spaces and community infrastructure for future generations.

This should not be viewed as an attempt to stop development. Rather, it is a call to make development more responsible, organized and sustainable.

We must not wait until Omoku becomes completely congested before beginning to ask difficult questions about planning.

The time to plan Omoku is NOW.

OUR CHILDREN DESERVE A BETTER-PLANNED OMOKU

We must begin to think beyond our individual houses, plots and immediate interests.

The Omoku of tomorrow will belong to our children and grandchildren. What we build today will determine the kind of environment they inherit.

If we allow waterways to be blocked today, our children will pay the price tomorrow.

If we fail to provide adequate drainage today, future generations will inherit flooding.

If we develop without a proper master plan today, tomorrow's Omoku may face avoidable congestion, environmental challenges and infrastructure crises.

But if we plan wisely today, Omoku can become a modern, beautiful, organized and economically vibrant city.

Let us therefore embrace a culture of development with responsibility, construction with planning and growth with foresight.

MY OCTOBER MESSAGE TO OMOKU AND NIGERIA

As we celebrate the 66th anniversary of Nigeria's independence, let us remember that nation-building begins from our communities.

A better Nigeria is built through better communities.

A better Omoku is built when its sons and daughters refuse to remain indifferent to the challenges around them and instead contribute ideas, solutions and responsible leadership.

I therefore encourage the good people of Omoku to remain peaceful, constructive and united in demanding development that serves the present while protecting the future.

Let us make this new month a month of hope, reflection, responsibility and renewed commitment to Omoku's development.

May October bring peace, prosperity, good health, progress and renewed opportunities to every household in Omoku and beyond.

And as Nigeria celebrates 66 years of independence, may God continue to bless our great nation, strengthen our unity and guide those entrusted with leadership at every level.

Happy New Month of October to the good people of Omoku, ONELGA, Rivers State and Nigerians everywhere.

ONELGA MUST NOT BLEED AGAIN: A CLARION CALL FOR PEACE, UNITY AND RESPONSIBLE POLITICAL CONDUCT.

“NO ELECTION IS WORTH THE BLOOD OF AN ONELGA SON OR DAUGHTER”

I, Hon. Ogbowu Alwell Chinedu, Chairman, ONELGA YPP, hereby make this solemn and patriotic appeal to the good people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), particularly our revered traditional rulers, political leaders, candidates, youths, security agencies, media practitioners and all stakeholders, to collectively rise above partisan interests and make peace the foundation of the forthcoming electioneering season and elections in ONELGA.

Our dear ONELGA has, in the past, witnessed unfortunate political tensions, violence, destruction of properties and, tragically, loss of lives during election periods. We must not allow history to repeat itself.

No political ambition is worth the life of a brother. No elective position is worth the blood of an innocent citizen. No candidate should win an election only to inherit a community that has been destroyed by the process of winning it.

Politics should be about service, ideas, development and the welfare of the people—not warfare.

A SPECIAL APPEAL TO THE THREE GREAT TRADITIONAL AUTHORITIES OF ONELGA.

I respectfully call upon our revered traditional institutions, whose moral authority transcends political party lines, to take the lead in this historic peace initiative:

1. His Eminence, Barr. Nwachukwu Nnam Obuohna Obi III, Oba (Eze Ogba) of Ogbaland;

2. His Royal Majesty, Nzeobi Evaritus Amida, Nze-Obi of Egbema Kingdom;

3. His Royal Majesty, Ijeoma Okwuchukwu Samuel, Awor of Ndoni;

and the

Executive Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Shedrach Ogbogu, Esq., DSSRS.

I humbly urge these distinguished leaders to jointly convene a PEACE ACCORD OF ONELGA, bringing together all candidates and political parties participating in the forthcoming elections and electoral activities in the Local Government Area.

This should not merely be another political gathering or ceremony. It should be a historic covenant for peace—a solemn commitment by all political actors that the people of ONELGA shall not be sacrificed on the altar of political ambition.

THE PROPOSED ONELGA PEACE ACCORD

Under the leadership of our traditional rulers and the Local Government Chairman, I appeal that every candidate and political party be encouraged to publicly commit themselves to:

- Free, fair, peaceful and credible campaigns and elections;
- Rejection of killings, intimidation, political thuggery, cultism and all forms of violence;
- Respect for the dignity, rights and safety of every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation;
- Refraining from the destruction of campaign materials, properties and businesses belonging to political opponents;
- Rejecting the use of youths as instruments of violence before, during or after elections;
- Respecting the outcome of lawful electoral processes and seeking redress through legitimate and constitutional channels where disputes arise;
- Ensuring that political differences do not destroy existing family, community, friendship and business relationships;
- Protecting women, children, the elderly and other vulnerable members of our communities from political violence;
- Promoting issue-based campaigns focused on development, employment, education, security, healthcare, infrastructure and the wellbeing of ONELGA people.

A WORD TO ALL POLITICAL CANDIDATES

To every candidate, irrespective of political party, I appeal to you as sons and daughters of ONELGA:

Please educate your supporters.

Your supporters must understand that an opponent is not an enemy.

In particular, candidates must properly orientate their media aides, spokespersons, social media handlers and campaign teams to desist from unnecessary attacks, insults, abusive language, character assassination, provocative publications, ethnic insinuations and reckless name-calling.

Political communication can be firm without being destructive.

Disagree with ideas, not people's humanity. Challenge policies, not people's families. Campaign vigorously, but campaign with dignity.

Let our media spaces become platforms for ideas rather than battlefields of insults.

Let us compete politically and still remain brothers and sisters.

We can campaign against one another without becoming enemies. We can contest elections against one another and still shake hands after the election. We can win without humiliating the defeated and lose without destroying the winner.

That is the kind of political culture ONELGA deserves.

OUR YOUTHS MUST NOT BE USED AS TOOLS OF DESTRUCTION

Our youths are the future of ONELGA. They should not be recruited, armed, paid or manipulated to fight political battles for people who will eventually reconcile after the damage has been done.

The young person who is sent to fight may lose his life.

The family that loses a son may never recover.

The property destroyed in a moment of political anger may have taken decades to build.

Let no politician sacrifice the future of our youths for temporary political advantage.

A SPECIAL APPEAL TO SECURITY AGENCIES

I equally call upon all security agencies operating in ONELGA, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), OSPAC and other lawful security and community-safety structures, to remain professional, impartial and proactive throughout the electioneering period.

Of particular importance is OSPAC, because of its closeness to our communities and its understanding of the local environment.

I appeal that OSPAC and other security outfits should work closely with the traditional institutions, political parties, community leaders and statutory security agencies to prevent violence rather than merely respond to it after lives and properties have been lost.

Security must be for everyone—not for one political party, candidate, ethnic group or community.

LET ONELGA SET A NEW STANDARD

This is an opportunity for ONELGA to write a new chapter.

Let the forthcoming electoral season be remembered—not for killings, destruction and bitterness—but as the period when our traditional rulers, political leaders, candidates, youths, security agencies and citizens collectively decided that ONELGA would never again be a theatre for political bloodshed.

Let the proposed ONELGA Peace Accord become a landmark initiative that subsequent generations and future election cycles will continue to uphold.

Let other Local Government Areas look to ONELGA and say:

“They showed us how politics can be practised without destroying the people.”

MY MESSAGE TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF ONELGA

To the people of Ogba, Egbema and Ndoni, I appeal to you:

Do not allow anybody to use your emotions to make you fight your brother.

Do not allow political propaganda to turn neighbours into enemies.

Do not allow temporary political disagreements to destroy permanent relationships.

Before you share an inflammatory message, ask yourself whether it will promote peace or provoke violence.

Before you insult another candidate, remember that he or she is someone's brother, sister, father, mother, husband, wife or child.

Before you pick up a weapon for politics, remember that your life is more valuable than any political office.

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW

I therefore respectfully urge our three revered traditional rulers and the Executive Chairman of ONELGA to use their respected offices and moral authority to bring all political actors together and establish this ONELGA PEACE ACCORD before political activities escalate.

Let every candidate sign it.

Let every political party endorse it.

Let every traditional institution support it.

Let every security agency enforce the law fairly.

Let every youth understand it.

Let every media aide respect it.

And let every citizen defend it.

Together, we can disagree without destroying ourselves.

Together, we can compete without killing.

Together, we can win elections without losing our humanity.

And above all:

LET ONELGA LIVE. LET ONELGA PROSPER. LET ONELGA REMAIN PEACEFUL.

No election is worth the blood of an ONELGA son or daughter.

I am therefore appealing for peace in ONELGA before, during and after the campaigns and elections.

This is not a call for any political party.

This is not a campaign for any candidate.

This is a call for ONELGA.

This is a call for our people.

This is a call for peace.

The leadership of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, ONELGA Chapter, heartily sends warm greetings to the good people of ONELGA.

As we approach the season of election campaigns and the election proper, YPP is appealing to all sons and daughters of ONELGA to maintain peace, order and dignity. Peace is the only atmosphere that can attract positive attention, investment and development to ONELGA.

We must conduct ourselves as a people known for peace, hospitality and generosity. The world is watching, and we must not allow politics to paint us as hostile.

To all YPP members, supporters and indeed all political actors in ONELGA:
1. Avoid abusive words and character assassination against any opposition candidate.
2. Sell your candidates carefully and confidently based on capacity, track record, and vision for ONELGA.
3. Respect one another in all rallies, campaigns, social media engagements and door-to-door activities.

We have passed the era of election bitterness. Whoever emerges from this election is still a son and daughter of ONELGA. That bond is stronger than party differences. Let us not destroy our brotherhood for the sake of politics.

Other LGAs, especially our Ikwerre brothers and other neighboring LGAs, are setting examples by playing politics of brotherhood. They celebrate their children who go into politics without bringing trouble home. Why can’t ONELGA do better? In fact, we must lead by example.

YPP also reminds all stakeholders that security is paramount to everyone in ONELGA. We urge our youths, community leaders, security agencies, and political actors to work together to ensure that campaigns and the election are free, fair and devoid of violence.

LET PEACE REIGN: A CALL FOR DEVELOPMENT AND UNITY IN OMOKU MEGA CITY

The people of Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, are a resilient and enterprising people. Omoku has grown into a Mega City because of trade, business, and the unity of our people. But today, that growth is threatened if urgent steps are not taken.

OUR PRESENT CHALLENGES
1. Flooding and Poor Roads: Every rainfall turns Omoku into a flood zone. Houses are submerged because we lack good roads and deep constructed drainages to channel water into our natural river. Our people should not suffer every time it rains.
2. Epileptic Power Supply: Power was one of the key factors that brought investors and businesses to Omoku. Today, the epileptic power supply is killing businesses and forcing people to relocate. If we lose stable power, we risk losing the life of this growing Mega City.
Just to mention but a few.

APPEAL TO OUR YOUTHS AHEAD OF 2026 ELECTIONS
As we approach the 2026 General Elections, and with none of our sons or daughters on the ballot for President or Governor, I appeal to all youths of Omoku and ONELGA:

Shun violence. Shun thuggery. Shun all social vices.
Do not allow anyone to use you to cause insecurity in our land. When there is chaos, it is our mothers, fathers, and old parents who suffer most. They have nowhere else to go.

Let us protect our land, our parents, and our future by choosing peace.

CALL TO OUR LEADERS
I call on our Traditional Rulers, Political Leaders, and Opinion Leaders to speak with one voice and attract development to Omoku Mega City. The coming days demand productivity, and our city must be prepared to accommodate it.

I also make a direct appeal to the Executive Chairman of ONELGA, Hon Dr. Shadrack Ogbogu Esq. DSSRS.
Sir, Omoku is the headquarters of ONELGA. The eyes of the world are on us. I urge you to prioritize the developmental framework of Omoku. Invest in roads, drainage, and security. Play your role to ensure that Omoku is developed and secured for generations to come.

CONCLUSION
Development follows peace. No investor will come to a land of crisis. No business will thrive where there is no light or good roads.

Let us choose peace. Let us choose development. Let us build the Omoku Mega City that our children will be proud of.

A CALL FOR PEACE, JUSTICE AND CONSTITUTIONAL ORDER IN OMOKU YOUTH FEDERATION (OYF)

It is with great disappointment and deep concern that I address the people of Omoku on the current state of our beloved Omoku Youth Federation.

Following the painful loss of our OYF President, the Federation was thrown into a vacuum that demanded immediate constitutional action. To the surprise of many, the current Youth Administration has refused to call for a by-election to elect a new President from the rightful zone as enshrined in our constitution — the Obakata Zone.

What on earth will make someone hold on to what is not his, to the detriment of the people? It is laughable that those who claim to be educated and experienced in internal politics are the same ones trampling on the very rules meant to guide us.

This silence and disregard has led to tension, protests, and provocation among our youths. Our leaders, who should be "parents" to the youths, are instead provoking them to anger. The Holy Book warns that parents should not provoke their children to anger. Today, we are dangerously close to that line.

My Sincere Appeals:

1. To the good people of Obakata Zone: Unite peacefully and demand what is constitutionally yours. Do not allow another man’s mandate to override your own. This is about principle, not conflict.
2. To the Obieti Zone (Obieti Mandate): In the spirit of brotherhood, please call your own to order. Let us seek a common path to resolve this before it degenerates.
3. To the Usomini Zone: You are not left out. As stakeholders and brothers, we need your wise intervention to mediate and restore peace between two brothers before it is too late.
4. To our Traditional Rulers, Political Leaders, and Opinion Leaders: Please do not sweep this under the carpet. Rise now and resolve this matter amicably. The provocations in the land today are real and must not be ignored.

Omoku has bled before. We cannot afford another 2015. When brothers fight and kill themselves, a stranger inherits their land.

I therefore call on every youth of Omoku to embrace peace, brotherly love, and security consciousness. There is an evil discord sown in the land that awaits harvest, and its target is the destruction of Omoku again. We must not allow it.

Let us choose dialogue over division. Let us choose constitution over chaos. Let us choose Omoku over personal interest.

May peace reign in Omoku.

YPP ONELGA COMMENDS OSPAC FOR PROFESSIONALISM, UNITY AND COMMITMENT TO SECURING ONELGA

OMOKU, RIVERS STATE – The Young Progressives Party, YPP, ONELGA Chapter has commended the ONELGA Security Peace and Advisory Committee, OSPAC, for its resilience, robust security network structure, unity, coordination and accommodating spirit in the discharge of its duties across Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, ONELGA YPP, Hon. Ogbowu, Alwell Chinedu, the party said it paid an unannounced visit to the OSPAC Headquarters on Erema Street, Omoku to quietly observe the operations of the outfit.

“After my visit, I can boldly say that OSPAC has a standard of doing things that we should all support,” Hon. Ogbowu stated. “The outfit has learned personnel who are educated and perform their duties professionally. This is the kind of local security structure our land needs.”

The Chairman applauded the Outfit Secretary who received him without prior knowledge of his identity. He also noted the morale and camaraderie among the officers on duty.
“I was with the officers outside, and the fun was something else. It shows unity and team spirit. That is what builds trust between the security outfit and the people,” he added.

YPP ONELGA urged all sons and daughters of ONELGA to support OSPAC as a people and desist from backbiting or attempts to undermine the outfit.
“OSPAC needs our support, not sabotage. Many are already working to undo them. We must not allow politics and bitterness to destroy an institution that is keeping our communities safe,” the statement read.

CHARGE TO THE COMMANDER.
The party also called on Commander Emeka Onyeocha to consistently give orientation to his officers to improve their community relations and security service delivery.
“We charge the Commander to keep training his men, uphold discipline and professionalism at all times. This will make the people even happier with them and protect the good image OSPAC has built for itself,” Hon. Ogbowu said.

ONELGA YPP Calls for Unity and Issue-Based Politics Ahead of 2027 Elections
Party Seeks Collaboration with Youth and Leaders to Restore Development in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA

Omoku, Rivers State – 28 June 2026 – The Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) has called on political stakeholders, youth leaders, and community influencers to unite for the advancement of the LGA as political activities build up toward the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued today by the ONELGA YPP Chairman, Hon. Ogbowu Alwell Chinedu, the party said it is open to collaboration with “genuine sons and daughters of ONELGA, especially the youths ready to take up leadership roles in restoring peace, development, and productivity in the land.”

“We believe ONELGA’s progress depends on constructive engagement and shared responsibility. YPP is ready to work with all active political players, analysts, and community voices who are committed to bringing back the political and developmental momentum ONELGA is known for,” Hon. Ogbowu stated.

The party also affirmed that it is open for collaboration with our people in all ramifications, aimed at attracting development and productivity to our land by supporting and electing those who can represent us genuinely at all levels.

The party further urged media aides and supporters of senior political figures in ONELGA to uphold responsible communication on social and traditional media platforms.

“Political campaigns should focus on ideas, records, and solutions, not personal attacks and defamation. The use of abusive language and name-calling only deepens division and sends the wrong signal about ONELGA to the rest of Rivers State and Nigeria,” the statement read.

YPP appealed to senior politicians across party lines to guide their supporters toward issue-based campaigning and to promote a political culture that encourages participation without hostility.

“YPP offers ONELGA Constituency I and II a platform for credible, youth-driven, and development-focused leadership. Our goal is to restore public trust and deliver tangible results for our people,” Hon. Ogbowu added.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive politics, peace, and the mobilization of young leaders for effective representation in 2027.
